Jeep corrosion warranty
Просмотров 10 тыс.5 месяцев назад
So I'm sure like you we had the dreaded corrosion issue with our Wrangler. Jeep and my local dealership took very good care of us. They gave us a rental for the whole time they had our vehicle as well as allowed me open access to their work area to film the whole process. We got new doors, and hood as well as new hinges for our hood and doors. The tailgate was not worked on and I was told that ...

Would love to see some videos on how you chop up the full doors to make half doors
@@ambermerefield7742 dealership didn't give me the old doors. If I was able to get them I would have made a video.
When Stellantis took all those cost cutting (shortcuts) measures...thats when these corrosion issues began among other things. I think I bought the last model year when they were still painting under the latches. I havent had the bubbling creep yet.
@@techonthemove what year do you have?
@@overlanding21 a 2019...which i think is technically in the last batch. I double checked again a few months back and zero signs of bubbling on any of the panels. Anyway that places it just outside of the warranty for the dealership to fix.
@techonthemove I've seen 2018s with paint chunks falling off, but I do hope that you don't fall into our problems.
@@techonthemoveI’ve got a 2018 and it started bubbling at 2 years old. I’m currently replacing all the doors and hinges. As I pulled the hinges off yesterday, not a single hinge was painted underneath. There also was no paint on the actual frame/body when I pulled off the bodyside hinges. Evidence that they fully assemble all the metal and then paint
@@ambermerefield7742 Yes...I've heard/seen that. Not painted underneath the hinges. That different metal contact starts the oxidation. I imagine thats where the zinc insert comes into play. Ya'll are making me so nervous i went down to the garage bay and re-checked. Technically I guess im still within the mileage limit of the warranty.
I see the problem. Not enough ducks on the dash.
@@joshuahill1246 maybe if there was a duck in the water?
Is your voltage still running at 14.0 and the next morning how low is it before you start the jeep
@xsharkinfested84 I only see 14volts when I'm at low rpms, at above 1600rpms I'm in the mid 13s. I never check my voltage before I start her.
Did you take off the f42 fuse also
@xsharkinfested84 no it's still in
What a shitbag

Outstanding video - thank you. I am thinking of doing the same. Are you still using the K&N Air Filter? Any issues? Semper Fi.

What year is your Jeep? I have a 2023 jeep Rubicon.
@@donquixote8410 21 rubicon
ON AMAZON IT SAYS DOES NOT FIT 2023 JEEP GLADIATOR JUST A FYI FOR THOSE OUT THERE
Have a 2021 Gladiator with 42,000. No corrosion issues at all. Not sure what to make of it ?
@patrickderubis4527 my 21 Had 62k miles on it without a issue than one day it did have it. It will come sadly or it's there and you haven't found it. I thought it was just on the hinges but dealership found it on seams way worse than what I seen on the hinges. I don't want it to happen. And I thought I wouldn't get it now I know it will happen to all that haven't been fixed.
My 2019 was refused for repair as it is 35 days over the warranty with only 37000km. What a joke. I was told it is being refused because I bought it out of my province. My last Chrysler product and I've been a faithful owner since I was 17 years old but no more.
@stevenash2933 sorry to hear that, I've heard Canada has different warranties as well. So I wouldn't be able to give any advice on it since I know how it is here in the states
Just got my 2020 Gladiator back today from paint fixes... all covered under warranty.. Truck was bought new in a different province. I noticed some bubbling late July, so had it assessed early August when I happened to have an oil change. My paint warranty also expired in July apparently, and service rep said that initially Jeep Canada was not going to cover it. Not sure why or how, but in the end Jeep covered it all...
@user-rp9my9ki1n glad to hearvthey covered it, on the group chats I see fca not helping the Canadian owners as much as in the states. I guess the warranty is different, but if your still within warranty they should fix the issues. Was it a replace or repair.
@@overlanding21 Just checked the invoice.. it says "repair" for hood, all doors, and windshield frame. Funny, I picked her up without tailgate emblems (JEEP and overland badge) - they said replacements are on backorder so they'll call when they're in.. However, I don't see tailgate listed on the invoice... I don't recall a problem on the tailgate, TBH.
@user-rp9my9ki1n so from what I have seen the "repaired" ones have the problem come back within months of being completed and the TSB that was released by FCA is to replace not repair because it comes back. So I would keep a very close watch so as soon as it comes back you take it in for them to replace as the hinges are different with the new ones.
We just dropped our '20 Sport off at Jeff Wyler CDJ in Canal Winchester, Ohio today. Took about a month and a half to get the parts in. 4 new doors and hood. Should be done in about 1.5 weeks. They pulled a brand-new bad ass Rubicon off the lot for a loaner car. Total nightmare finding a dealership that would help us until we found Jeff Wyler.
@jackets1001 glad you found a dealership, not many of them want to touch this issue.
I had galvanic corrosion on my 6 month old 21 rubicon. Plus the unfixable clutch recall, 2 leaky shocks that took months to replace. I dumped the jeep after less than 2 years ownership. My dealer quoted me 3 weeks for paint warranty fix with no loaner. They told me I could rent a loner for $100 a day for 21+days!!!....yeah go fuck yerself. Traded the Rubicon that day for a 23 Tacoma TRD OR and never looked back. Sad days ahead for jeep and jeep owners....stellantis is going under....writing is on the wall.
@plynch113 that's crazy that they didn't offer a rental. My rental was covered under warranty. And the repairs were done within 5 days.
Thanks for the video........
@@silverlover5817 hope it helps
I read this issue was corrected in 2022. Is this happening on vehicles after 2021?
@bearclub8334 yes I've seen 2023s with the same issue. Haven't found a 24 with it yet
@@overlanding21 Thanks, not good. Just bought a 2023..lol.
@bearclub8334 sorry for the bad news, but you have a 5 year from original purchase warranty with unlimited miles. I had trail damage on my hinges and they were still covered so atleast you know
It’s happening on my ‘22 just discovered on Friday
@GumballGarage just have to find a dealership that's will to do the claim. I just dropped my windshield and found corrosion there. So just started a new claim on the 23rd of September
Looks great…hopefully it holds up..I wonder if there’s a way to prevent the issue instead of fixing it once it happens, like to remove the hinge and paint the bare metal and or use a gasket type material between the dissimilar metals..
@@chrisschulze8081 I asked the same question and was told no, the fact that there was bare metal underneath it and exposed to the elements that it would be a matter of time even if you rhino lined the vehicle. That was my original idea when I first bought the Wrangler.
I found the same thing when I cut mine. My temps went up. I covered them back up with the underhood pad. So it does let more hot air out but still blocks the flow back down
What a shame, Jeep knew about this corrosion problem for years and never did anything to correct the problem, they only took action in late 2023 after a class action lawsuit! ......Sadly, the most long lasting durable paint comes from the factory! Jeep Rubicons cost a small fortune and this should have never happened! Maybe the engineer was a diversity hire!
Dude that Jeep is too new to have any corrosion. I have a 2013 with almost no corrosion. It is awesome they are doing all that work though.
@jackcapella2707 I've seen new 2023s on the dealership lot getting bubbled, and the salesman told me that they can't fix it till it's sold. But I agree it shouldn't be a problem if things were done correctly from the factory. My 2011 never had this issue, I got rid of it because I was getting 9mpg and wanted to do a bt4 4 swap but with the ecodiesel coming out I decided to get one. I don't regret it as it's nicer than the interior of my 11 but dang the issues that I'm having or had sucks.
I took mine to my local jeep dealer and was basically told that there was nothing they could do since they do not have any approved body shop to do the work.
@hemi7t1 I've heard of others having the same issue. I know the Wilmington nc jeep dealership refused to do body work related to corrosion. Did you try calling jeep cares? Even though they are not very useful?
@@overlanding21 , not yet,
@hemi7t1 good luck, what year is your vehicle?
It’s a 2021 grey Rubicon. It has a big bubbling spot on the drivers side hood hinge and slight spots on just about all the other hinges.
@hemi7t1 make sure no matter what you have it documented that you are trying to get it fixed now that way if you are close to your warranty expiring they have to still fix it.
My gladiator was Fine For 4 years, now all of the sudden this is exploding by all My hinges
@invictuscenturion8468 yeah that's how it happened with us
I have a 23’ High Velocity Yellow AEV Rubicon 392. I’ve been hearing more and more about this.I begrudgingly checked mine yesterday ( because I got nervous, lol ) and so far so good. But like I said, it’s a 23’. So......when/if it happens, I’m gonna lose my everloving mind! That’s some ridiculous shit right there. A stupid problem to have on a $117k Jeep! I’ve had 4 Gladiators and 3 Wranglers since 18’...I guess I’ve just not kept any long enough to see this happen! I did make it through the Mexican frame welding issue unscathed though, Hahahahaha! I went through my Bronco phase as well late last year and early this year. I’ve had 4 of those! Still have one and my 392....Jeep stays in the garage mostly. I almost traded this thing for a Z06. Maybe I should revisit that idea before this problem starts! Also in N.C. btw...Wilson.
@Sebrof3 if you need to hire someone paying your wages to afford all those toy let me know I am your guy ;) lol. But yeah doesn't matter how much the end product cost the doors are the same from a base sport 2 door to a 392. I've see people with 24s have the issue already. And when I first found out about it I ran to check my Wrangler. When there was nothing last year around Christmas I thought I was good. But around February I seen it coming in. And there are thousands of people complaining so I figure it's just a matter of time. A lot of people are just out of warranty.
HI! The first paint imperfections on my Gladiator 80º Ecodiesel were discovered last night: I'll start finding out what they do here in Italy and whether the warranty covers the damage...😭
How many miles? Is that only under basic warranty. 36kmiles?
@Yoongela it's unlimited miles, just 60 months from original purchase.
Oh that’s good, thank you!
@@Yoongela glad I can help
I bought a jeep 2years ago nd I didn't know about this😬 lol now I've nervous to go see if it has any corrosion..
@cristianbarrientos9491 don't worry it will happen. When I first found out about it last year I was like not my Wrangler... now I know it's just a matter of time till it happens. And I rather it get fixed sooner so of it happens again it can get fixed for free
Where did you purchase the rack for your tailgate?
@mtibbe it's a LOD rear bumper tire carrier system, it's nice to have but the powder coat on it sucks and started rusting days after I got mine.
@@overlanding21 oh that’s not good. I liked the fact that it held the Jerry can on the same rack while still giving access to the spare but I don’t want something that is going to rust right away. Thanks for the information
@mtibbe I wasn't happy about that too, when I contacted lod they said that's how it is I can send it back or keep it. Won't even offer it raw for my local powder coated to do it.
@@overlanding21 I wonder if some high heat Rust-Oleum paint would solve the issue? Sounds like LOD has terrible customer service and don’t stand behind their products
@mtibbe the owner will tell you to get the rust-oleum paint in the qt size can with a foam brush and it will match it. But no powder coating will get in the corners. But I wanted a shrockworks rear bumper with tire carrier, that was the brand I had on my jku but they told me they will not make the tire carrier option for the jl as the demand is not there.
Go thru all that work to burn in windshield posts, and not remove hard top? Seems be paint edge by hardtop. And guarantee that the windshield pillars will fade out and see the repair blend
Dope!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks
if i had this guys money i'd burn mine. Spenst 74 k and have these issues. common jeep
my 2023 gladiator is in the shop right now too. what a joke stalantis.
There aluminum panels, not metal. If it's warranty, Jeep needs the doors back. I have fixed a few of these for my dealer. Most of the problem is there is no primer between hinge and panel.
I was told that most of the time fca wants the doors and hoods back. But there have been a few that went to the scrap yard. I was just told mine went back to fca yesterday
Isn't aluminum a kind of metal?
@FrJohnBrownSJ yes last time I checked it's a metal.
@@FrJohnBrownSJThat’s new to me. I always thought aluminum was a type of linen or cotton.

2021
Stellantis is going out of business
They are definitely paying out a lot in warranty work. Paint correction, high pressure fuel pumps, clutch plates, steering boxes. I do think the Wrangler doesn't have much longer to go with tightening emissions, being a brick driving, but I think getting rid of the diesel was the start of it.
Steering wheel is on the wrong side of the Jeep. You need to take that thing back and find out what they did :D J/K, great looking Jeep. I have a '23 that I am waiting for this to show up on.
