I fell in love with the vibes of this song since Sondre posted a one minute snippet of it on Instagram in late 2020. their voices go very nicely together , and they're just as amazing in solo parts too♡ great collab
🥲listening to this while alone in the night 🌕 it’s beyond beautiful songwriting..music! Sondre + Aurora is what love sounds like .. glad I’m not alone in its admiration🧡another masterpiece to add to a library full of musical magic ✨
Magically Beautiful song that touches my heart & brings tears to my eyes . It has me wistfully reminiscing of when I first fell in love with my ex wife - (we are still very close friends 22yrs later but I didn’t want another woman after her) - & this song transports you back to the 1930’s-40’s❤️
No brother this is age of vulgar, oversexulised, culturless music.....this type of music and songs are now considered old-fashioned and boring..... I'm listening this and feels like I want to keep this a secret from everyone
One of the heaviest but most beautiful songs I've heard in the last 10 years. Alzheimer's and dementia are on both sides of my family, and I can't help but feel that I'll be living the life this song describes in the future. Saw the diseases rob two grandparents of everything eventually, though neither had their spouse to witness the descent...which is equally sad and merciful. Thank you for this masterpiece Sondre, and for choosing a counterpart that will help this song last forever!
@@jonathanwetherell3609 I feel for you. My Mom's mom and Dad's Father both hung on for 5+ years after losing most of their faculties. A terrible, dehumanizing decline for sure. Stay strong for him, my friend.
It took me 5 years before I really came to terms with my grandfather's death and Alzheimer's. I wasn't able to get out of bed in the first few years because of how depressed I was with how everything sort of fell apart in our family after the decline of his memory and eventual death. These days I can bear to look at his pictures, but I still end up crying to things that vaguely remind me of him. One day, I hope scientists can discover a way to stop this horrible disease of the brain.
WOW, it's been a LOOOONGGGG time since I heard a male vocalist that really caught my attention so completely!!! Of course I came here for Aurora, having fallen in love with her just weeks ago, and so glad I did or I would never have heard Sondre's amazing voice and music, what a complete surprise!!! And this song was AMAZING, just incredible with that retro sound that takes me back to the 60's and some of the love songs coming from the Continent and France in particular, simply perfection ;?)
This felt like a classic film with Aurora as the timeless movie star of days gone by. The music, the mood, the imagined thoughts and emotions between the two protagonists. She just has a way of expressing so much intent, whether real or imaginary. It just draws you in. Oh, and I love her hair. So perfectly imperfect.
And this is how Sondre Lerche let us know the power of subtly… Delicate and beautiful lyrics immerse in two iconic, silky voices. Thank you for always making new music and taking chances in a world that few people dare to push the envelope.
I really like how this music video has so many facets -- their complementary vocals and the backing orchestral quartet give it a whimsical nostalgic 40's/50's quality!
Melodious violin based music and songs will always be tradition instead of outdated outmoded square and old fashioned!! Now I know that all flavors of sounds will never change and will continue to go somewhere!!!
It's a great song: beautiful, well-written, performed and produced. I dare say one of the finest I've found in quite some time. Great string work guys! Well done and Congrats, all!
LYRICS: Alone in the night with only the thought of you The stars that come into view, do I know you by heart? When we are apart, how are you so near to me? So vivid, so clear to me, like I know you by heart {Chorus 1: Sondre Lerche, with AURORA} When you want me like I want you We're defenseless to our senses, to our souls But in hindsight, beyond the moonlight At the merciless break of dawn Will we awake and love move on? Our bodies fade at the hands of time Like stars eclipsed in the dark All alone in the night All alone in the night {Verse 2: Sondre Lerche & AURORA} Alone in the night, when you're making love to me We know love instinctively, don't you know me by heart? {Chorus 2: Sondre Lerche, with AURORA} When you love me like I love you We're defenseless to our senses, to our souls But in hindsight, in the twilight At the merciless break of dawn Will we awake? Will love be gone? Our memories slip through the hands of time Like stars eclipsed in the dark, like you and I All alone in the night All alone in the night All alone in the night {Outro: Sondre Lerche, AURORA, both} Alone in the night, how will you remember us If your memory turns to dust? Will you know me by heart? By heart, by heart, by heart

I have been listening to Sondre Lerche for so long I can't even remember what album he'd recently released when I first heard his beautiful music. I stumbled across Aurora's Tiny Desk performance in 2020, shortly after my office closed and we were told to work from home. Their music has accompanied my life through some very difficult times, joyous times, etc. I had no idea Aurora had worked with him before, so hearing that they'd release a collaboration, I was ecstatic. This was more perfect than I could have imagined.
My first comment did not properly acknowledge the truly beautiful composition of this song, both musically and lyrically. The line “know you by heart” has its roots in common vernacular when describing your favourite song or movie quote. When expressed as the deep seeded bond between two people on both an emotional and physical level, it captures the essence of true love. Imagining such a love fills your mind with immeasurable joy until you realize how tragic it would be to lose your memories as your mind begins to fade. Sondre disguised the sadness of loneliness and loss in such a beautiful song. In an interview, he said that he had an epiphany to involve Aurora in the recording and this song perfectly matches her sensibilities.
I listened to this song for the first time yesterday at the middle of the night and it was pure magic. Your voices are perfect together. Such a beeautiful song, thank you
idk why but when i listened to this song when it was out, it felt so familiar, as if I had listened to it so long before. At first I thought they covered some famous classical piece of jazz music (songs like Fly me to the moon ya know, Alone In The Night's vibe kinda sounds like that), but it turned out that this song is completely newly published. Anyway this song is masterpiece. Periodt.
I'm literally alone in the night right now what a beautiful song guys... I'm going to sleep now with these lyrics flying over my mind and that's a privilege, music has power! Thanks for that. There's something about Aurora's voice that takes me into the unknown, this is real music.
This RUclips video is exquisite, the streaming version of the song seems slightly different, more produced, less visceral. Both are gorgeous, but this is my favorite. Maybe it's just seeing this song performed that makes it seem different. I can't stop listening, it's so lovely.
This felt like a movie. So little happens, but there is so much expression that every scene is captivating. I thought this was completely new since I hadnt heard it before recently. Hope it gets the attention it deserves. Love the song. The lyrics are so meaningful to so many, and the melody is a classic.
Truly beautiful song...Feels like I'm floating around in the sea or in the moon...Obviously it's one of those songs that easily can break us in tears...
Omg 😱 so dreamy, I can get transported from all the negative shit in this world and be in bliss and joy when ever I turn this song on. Thank you for the tiny escape.
Finally oh my god I’ve been waiting and waiting for this one. This is one of the most beautiful songs that I have EVER heard! It just transports me to another world/time/feeling. I dreamt about it once and the dream kept going after the song had finished - I think it was post war northern Europe and the lovers had been separated by the ravages of war. It was about the struggle to reunite - oh how romantic! Who writes songs like this anymore? Thank you 🙏❤️🎶🇦🇺
This gave me goosebumps and shivers down my spine. It even made me cry a bit, so this Sondre and AURORA was good, really really good 💕💕 Loved every single second of it. And the line " If your memory turns to dust, will you know me by heart"... Speachless💕 I'm from Bergen my self, and what you two just did, made me so proud that i don't know why... I just LOVED IT 💕
Beautiful and yet so sad.. Sung with True Love for those that we have loved and cant remember the past very well any longer. Such a powerful message simply of love!

I once suggested on twitter that these two should do a collaboration and got a like from Sondre Being a fan of both I am enthralled with the outcome
this is the saddest song i think ive ever listened to ive been crying for two days straight over this song
As ELO is to the Beatles, you are to Prefab Sprout....as if their evolution continued to this day. Beautiful.
songs like this paint, in my head, 2 lovers dancing while the whole world crumbles around them. they then fade away, in an embrace, thru eternity.
I want this song to be my wedding main waltz. it's so magical and gently romantical. Delightful I'd say.
It is, indeed, a magical journey
Damn! Another surprising shade of Aurora! Classic movie soundtrack sounding. 🤘🏻🙏🏻✌🏻
