It is. Pure magic. I get some vibes to french music, and much of Lerche's songs have elements from The Beatles, in the building of a song. He is a genious, and this is his best song ever.
So far this is one of my favorite songs ever. This song captured sadness and depression on the right amount but the end, give encouragement that what ever happened, we need to let it go, leave it all and be pure, refreshed again. Thank you dear Mr Lerche, for this beautiful and honest song :) wish you someday make a concert here in my country, Indonesia~
It was a pleasure to see him in Pittsburgh, PA on October 20th. Perhaps the most under appreciated pop musician in America. This song is haunting and heart wrenching and I can't get enough of him. Having seen McCartney, Springsteen, Elvis Costello in person in their prime, he is right up there with his guitar, three piece band and absolutely no theatrics. He has a long career ahead of him and I wish him all the success he is due.
Was my pleasure to see him perform 5 25 23 when he was only in Los Angeles for 24hrs. He sang this then other song about being a sentimental after all.
The chorus is inspired by classical French song tradition, which I love. The song is incredibly beautiful, but at the same time with a sound filter, which makes it more "raw". One of the best songs I know of.
Sentimentalist For a self-professed lover, a romanticist at heart I wasted less to no time at all Tying the knot, dying to not rot But I'm no sentimentalist Was a self-confessed tyro, so rational, so far Such a dumb way to get what you want Loved you a lot, loved you a whole lot But I'm no sentimentalist Don't I know you, my love? Don't I know you, my love? You can ask me again, but you may never know I'll be damned if I fight I'll be damned if I don't In the end, would it count? Don't you know me, my love? Don't you know me, my love? I may ask you again, but you may never know I'll be damned if I fight I'll be damned if I don't For a final farewell before everything falls down You wasted less to no time at all On a table for eight you set for a trio You were no sentimentalist Sought a mock independence, irrational and harsh Such a sad way to get what you want Love be the hurt and the consoler But I'm no sentimentalist Don't I know you, my love? Don't I know you, my love? You can ask me again, how the hell should I know? I'll be damned if I fight I'll be damned if I don't In the end, would it count? Don't you know me, my love? Don't you know me, my love? I may ask you again, but you may never know I'll be damned if I fight I'll be damned if I don't
You´re a genius, I can feel the pain, melancholy and toxicity of this relationship this song is a masterpiece!! Greetings from Panamá, Central America :)
i can 100% say this music changed my life. I have lived my whole existence confused on why i never felt much and why i always complicated everything, now i know there's a word for it: Sentimentalist. Hope i find more people like me out there
This is such a song that drags you into it and you want to stay there and be sentimental. Well done Sondre, really hope it reaches it's deserved audience.
This song really has a very special tone and feeling. That combined to the absolutely beautiful video makes this amazing. One's not sure if one should cry or just stare blankly for hours... Or both. Thank you. This definitely needs more views.

This the ultimate song about divorce and betrayal. Giving so wholly of yourself only to be completely let down, and realize it was all an illusion to begin with. The sheer shock that comes along with this. I'm going through a divorce right now. My decision. But is it really? I think it was his decision with how he emotionally treated me like a rag doll. Just tossing my emotions around. You treat someone badly they eventually give up. I give a lot of myself in a relationship. So, when someone mistreated me like this, biggest shock to my system. Anyways, everything off of the please and pleasure albums totally speaks to me, and has been a type of medicine to get me through the pain I feel. Loved him before these albums and love him now.
It's interesting seeing the comparison to Paul McCartney in the comments because I had the same thought. There are parts of this song that manage to do what Paul did in some of his best songs.. timeless melodies that sound familiar the first time you're hearing them. Sondre did this with a small orchestra for NRK music in Norway, definitely check out that version if you haven't already.. it's a little slower with a completely different arrangement.
Holy crap this is good. It was good when I heard it at Vega in Copenhagen on Tuesday, but this production just makes it go from 10 to 11. Sounds too good!!

I can set on "repeat", and just listen to this song forever. A sad song, but oh my, so beautiful!
I agree. It's heavenly, it's a diamond ofa song.
This is by far my favourite song off the album.

Well said. And too me, this is also one of my favourites of all songs.
Влюблена в жту песню, слушаю без конца. Какое счастье, что она мне попалась! Концовка клипа напомнила момент с мистером Дарси, как он прыгет в озеро)
When he strikes gold, he strikes gold.
I would say this song is a diamond.
Это гениальная песня! Я не понимаю почему она не стала популярной на весь мир!!! Браво!!!

Acctually, I've always thought Sondre has some of his music inspired by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
