Back in 1966, my dad bought a used 4-door '64 Falcon in silver. Such a pretty car and such great memories!

Beautiful car mate. I remember the XL Futuras well with the spear tipped side stripe. They had a padded dash. White with red vinyl seats was my choice. But you have done well with this. And 221cu.in with 3sp is a nice upgrade. Jay Leno has a Falcon Sprint with 264 cu.in V8 and 4-speed. The ultimate of the early series Falcons in my book.

My memory is country town cops. Used to park the xm outside the station with weapons sitting on the front seats. So cool. ( Outrageous today).
Beautiful car except for the hideous dollar shop door pins. Come on man.

That's a very good thing. Those old Falcons looked pretty when new but soon rusted out. When I had one, I often found screws on the floor that had fallen out from somewhere. Hit something at 70 km/hr and you were a serious hospital case. Hit something at 70 km/hr in a modern car and you walk away without a scratch. Hit something at 80 km/hr in these old cars and you often died.
Falcons always had better engines than the Holden though.
Full marks though to Matt for the restoration - it really looks nice, and the 2-door version is a rare car.
A bit surprised he said he put seat belts in though. They are not visible in the video. These cars were not designed to have seat belts and there is no strong point to attach them to. Thus the safety aspect is questionable and there is no legal requirement to install belts in cars that didn't come with them from the factory.
Since the belts are not visible, perhaps they were fitted after the video was shot, or perhaps they are just lap belts and not lap and sash.
Lap only belts are a no-no, as the force your head to hit the dash (metal in these cars, covered in vinyl without padding) and kill you, whereas without the lap belt you get thrown through the windscreen, which is survivable..

Driving and shifting left hand would really feel strange 🐓⚠️
