This house has an almost identical layout to my mother-in-law’s house. It’s stunning. I really hope it’s always maintained like this and isn’t lost to someone with beige tastes.
I'm so happy that the National Trust exists to preserve important pieces of history like this. Over here in the States, so many people have bought up older homes and taken all the character and charm out of them to give them a cheap "modern" feel. It's depressing.
A gorgeous house. I had been on the website a few months ago, and seen photos but it was great to see a video of the house. I love that the kitchen sink is in a corner and not in front of the window like they are in modern houses. Having to lean over a sink makes opening kitchen windows difficult!
That certainly is Mr Straws house :), lived in Worksop all my life and I once live at number 33 Blyth grove (the name of the street the house is on) and I can confirm it is a beautiful house and a nice place to visit if you get the opportunity, thank you for making such a fine quality video :) much love from Worksop, 8-bit.
I love this house so much thank you for sharing I definitely have the same excitement in seeing a home in its very original condition such a rare sight. Such beautiful furniture and so well made ❤
I live in Worksop up until about 1997 and I remember the warm brother who drove the little mini car because he used to park it outside my house. The other Brother would never let him park it outside Their own house . They were quite a strange pair , Always immaculately turned out etc One thing I always remember, the house was always pitch black even in the winter they would never put a light on
*I RENOVATED A HOUSE IN GOOLE* that was almost identical in layout to this - except it was a terrace - I reinstated all the plaster cornices and picture rails, lincrusta in the hall stairs and landing. Fully back to its original glory. Wonderfully when I had to sell it I found a buyer in 2 hours who wanted a perfectly restored Victorian townhouse, they have not changed a single thing in 22 years
Thank you for sharing this I found it so interesting. I was born in 1962 and actually had your “dream toilet” in our bathroom. It made me giggle as I thought… gosh! I’m getting up there now lol. 😂 new subscriber 😊
Love this House. we live in a terraced Victorian house. it was built in 1890! and still has it's original stair case and fire places. it also has a few beautiful brass type lights in the front room and dining room. and plasterwork along the ceilings and over the doors, the front door is a solid oak wide one, beautiful. someone has unfortunately replaced the windows with double glazed units years ago! looks awful now and it has taken the original character of the house away. i wish we could replace them again with it's originals. i would love to get it back to it's original state throughout. but would cost a fortune now sadly. 😞😨
I grew up in a similar house built around that time and it had 1 owner before my parents brought it, the fire place had the original mantle with a mirror built with it and the bathroom was a big size and original suite, my dad restored a fireplace that had the original tiles hidden behind a board and carefully took them off, cleaned them and placed back how it would of looked when the house was built. It had the original front door with stain glass and an entrance hall that had stained glass on the panelling and the door from the entrance. It was a shame we left, but now I appreciate the craftsmanship. Now I'm older, and the new owner, it seems, has kept those features and upgraded the glass to double glazing so they'll last another 100 years
Perhaps give people a chance to absorb what’s being said. Could have done with slowing down a little. This property is similar to dreams I have. What an amazing home and would love to visit that.
Very interesting video! It appears to be two houses, as you seem to be in the back garden of the neighbouring house at one point. Did the family buy next door as well? Or is it the National Trust that have bought next door, to use as a tea shop?
THIS IS A TIME CAPSULE AND A MUSEUM, AS WELL AS A NATIONAL TREASURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP IT THAT WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FROM THE STATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I EVEN SAW A SWEETIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT I HATE THE CACTI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes the transition from fast paced short form content into longer slower content on RUclips has been a bit of an adjustment, but duly noted and I'll work on that ❤
I think this would have been more enjoyable if the woman took a breath every now and then instead of speaking as if she was reading out terms & conditions.
I if you can possibly speak a little faster and with less interest maybe not just reading from a script and remove the audio altogether and just have the camera slowly moving around the property and stopping occasionally to admire a object that would be great thanks.
TOO MUCH CLUTTER. If only it was pared down to make it practical to move and work in, it would be lovely. TOO MANY CHAIRS and knickknacks. It spoils the effect.
Mr Straw’s House has been on my places to visit list for a few years now, and your tour just makes me want to go even more! If you ever visit Lincolnshire, I highly recommend a visit to Mrs Smith’s Cottage, a museum in Navenby. Certainly not as grand as Mr Straw’s house, but a gem of a place!
Wow @JGalgeria.There is absolutely nothing wrong with the presenting at all and there is absolutely no need for your unkind comments and she is doing it her way not yours and she is totally right to tell those who don't like it to go elsewhere.
Thank you for your comments @JGalegria but I do not feel that their comment being simply "irritating presenter" gives me much to work with as an up and coming youtuber, I consistently listen to my audience, the majority of which are able to comment with kindness and constructive criticism, and then I'm able to work on making the next video even better. But a simple two-worded sentence gives me nothing! Your other comment, saying that I was rushing, was much more useful, and you weren't mean in that comment in any way. Now THAT I'm happy to work with. But someone calling me irritating doesn't really do it for me, I don't think that someone can ever truly warm to me if that's how they see me, and so for their benefit and mine, I think they should move onto another tour. ❤
Really enjoyed that house with a your great presentation, thanks for sharing. Take care and regards Graham
This house has an almost identical layout to my mother-in-law’s house. It’s stunning. I really hope it’s always maintained like this and isn’t lost to someone with beige tastes.
Very interesting video. It took me right back to my grandparents house, it had lot's of similar items.
I'm so happy that the National Trust exists to preserve important pieces of history like this. Over here in the States, so many people have bought up older homes and taken all the character and charm out of them to give them a cheap "modern" feel. It's depressing.
The same is happening in South Africa. Very depressing.
Really enjoyed this. Hope you take us on more old house visits. 🤩
❤ What a beautiful property, so glad the National Trust took it on and oversee the upkeep of it. A great vlog. Thank you 😊
Excellent video. Thank you for this.

Great video, my favourite movie has always been The Time Machine now I’ve found the house to go with it. Cool !

Very fun and informative visit. It is grand that you have chosen to decorate with pieces which feel right at home here.
Good job on you having so many of the same things!
Thank you for sharing this I found it so interesting. I was born in 1962 and actually had your “dream toilet” in our bathroom. It made me giggle as I thought… gosh! I’m getting up there now lol. 😂 new subscriber 😊
This was so interesting and I love that own some of the very same (if not as close as) things in this house. Love the content!
A beautiful tour, thank you x

There is another NT property in the area Southwell workhouse , also worth a look if you thought this one was good
I grew up with a coal range and had a range.like that.
Originality worth the most

So the Nationak Trust did indeed buy the house next door! ❤
I noticed the Annabel type doll in her own house ... spooooky!
Slow down, you’re “ rabbiting “ Nice pictures though. Are those really the original window frames ?
Cute Tuxedo I have 1 and 5 other cats. What is your cat called?🐈⬛😻

Where was the gramophone located or was it just the piano in this time at this house ?
A museum house nice😅
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What’s up with the walls
Very unappealing interior. The only good points are the large garden area and huge green house which is a gardeners delight.
Is that a serious comment? It’s a century old and preserved as such. What did you expect?!
The house i live in hasn't changed in 1000 years ( no joke )

Speaking way tooooooooooooooo fast and loud for this video!! such a shame as interesting items here.
You can little turn down the volume and slow the video. Not worth a comment to moan
@@c.leighx Its my thoughts so there if you do not like them too bad!!

Great video, but not sure about the daft skip at the beginning 🙄
😂 a very fair point Nick, it was basically a moment of realisation of how daft I felt filming myself, tried to skip it out, made it worse... 😪
Nothing wrong with a bit of fun skipping at the start of the video ❤
I think this would have been more enjoyable if the woman took a breath every now and then instead of speaking as if she was reading out terms & conditions.
Noted for next time ❤ it's been a challenging transition from short form tiktok type content to slower paced youtube but I'll work hard and get there!
You are doing wonderful ❤️
I if you can possibly speak a little faster and with less interest maybe not just reading from a script and remove the audio altogether and just have the camera slowly moving around the property and stopping occasionally to admire a object that would be great thanks.

Going back in history, homes were like this
It's not an 'effect' it's a time capsule, this is how it truly was.
Irritating presenter.
My channel Susan 😂 if you don't take to me, feel free to find the tour somewhere else ❤
