What is Dharma?

  • Starting from the days of Vedas, the scope and the meaning of "Dharma" has evolved for thousands of years. We see discourses on Dharma in Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayana and Mahabharata, Buddhism, and many other Indian texts.
The idea of Dharma is a complex one. It is an amalgamation of philosophy, psychology, and behavioral practices. It offers a relevant discourse in our era of uncertainty, crisis, and many challenges.
Therefore, we at the Bhandarkar Institute have decided to launch a mini-RUclips series on the idea of Dharma, based on the "History of Dharmashastra" by Shri P. V. Kane and "Essence of Dharmashastra" by Shri S.G. Moghe.
In today's video, Dr. Gauri Moghe takes an overview of the origins of the concept of Dharma and its evolution through the ages.

Thank you. Very much needed commentry in the present times. Since dharma is being used as a noun, verb, adjective or even a proper noun.
A scientifc explaination is urgently needed. 🙏

Dhanyavad! So informative 👏 My only comment is, I so dislike the word SELF. Whereas in our Védas, the word Aathman has a clear meaning. The word Self was created by westerners and needs to be rejected...

@@darshu94, it is considered to be poor etiquette for a person who is lower than even a slave to presume to instruct her MASTER, or to provide unsolicited advice to her superiors.
      Is that fully understood, SLAVE?
Incidentally, Slave, are you VEGAN? 🌱
