Even though I am not Indian I read some of the Upanishads when I was 20. I am glad I did because my mind and heart were fresh. I found the texts very moving and inspirational. Then I went on and lived my karma-dharma. That was 55 years ago and now I have returned to these incredible ancient teachings...

karma is essential for purifying mind. Without which we are not qualified to practice vedantha. Karma should leave one on its own as one's mind is purified by karma and focused by upasana, and lost in vedantha dhyana. No one should deliberately give up karma, (while still enjoying everything else in the world). That is a wrong understanding

This is the type of knowledge that should be encouraged by the 'Indian government' to promote universal love & peace as an aspect of its main foreign policy. Trying only to be attracted to materialistic targets like most other countries will only make India yet another marginal country. Ancient knowledge such as the Upanishad can bring so much happiness, moral value, and satisfaction to every human being, in my thought. Thank you.

I look forward to more such sessions by BORI. One needs to understand that this series is for masses and not for scholars. So I think there should be no issues on using everyday examples to make the subject easier to understand but may be it could be presented with a verbal caveat that this is a crude example and only meant for oversimplification of the idea. This will make sure that nitpickers don't get a chance to overshadow the important ideas.

Thank you very much for doing this. I am excited to listen and remember more of what this world has encouraged me to forget.

Pleasure to hear Dr. Paranjpe. Her explanations are so easy to follow even for lay people. Please organise more such talks. It is so difficult to get proper explanations for our scriptures. Thank you for organising this talk.

With all due respect to both of you, my humble request is that you use a board or better prepared slides to have better communication with Shishyas. Architecture and interrelationship between different Upanishads can be better appreciated if a pictorial help is taken. I am ardent lover of our philosophy, 86 years of age living in USA.

Absolutely right. I liked your suggestion and strongly support it. In modern communication charts and pictorial presentation is very effective. Later on if I think about the lecture, I will immediately remember the visual presentation and then the words.

As long as you have interest in knowledge above anything, your goal is to become brahmana (The Knower of Brahm). Telling you this coz studies of these texts mention brahmana, that time understand that they are referring to you.

As a Civil Service aspirant, I can say that it was a knowledgeable session. A lot of times we study things we don't fully understand and it becomes very difficult to memorise the same and use that knowledge later during the exam. However, this particular lecture/ session by Dr. Sucheta ji was really helpful. Thank you.
