@@krista.jocelyncan I ask if you know if youth staff is yellow card ? I have an interview and previously worked on DCL where we had good guest privileges ( pools , movie theatre etc ) and don’t know how I would go without having those things to do
Hey Krista! Not sure if your remember me, but I’m Austin Jones. I was a restaurant steward on board the POA and I’ve gotta say I absolutely loved ship life! Best part is just getting to see and explore all of Hawaii. I unfortunately got fired about a month and a half ago due to being tardy too much and fraternizing with another guest during my free time. It’s very sad because I did not even make it to my probation period, which would have been a few days ago. I definitely learned my lesson though the hard way. Anyway, I am definitely planning on reapplying in 5 more months, which will be around April next year. Do your write ups and everything you did wrong disappear permanently off your files after a certain period of time? Fortunately, I’ve already attended Piney Point and have my MMC and TWIC, so I would most likely just be sent to Hawaii from my home if they take me back. Great video, and wish me luck with getting back on in 6 months!

What I could do is call up the shipboard talent acquisition specialist (the person who interviewed and recruited me from home) and ask him those questions. I’m sure they will assume that I have learned my lesson and promise to improve myself for my next contract. Fingers crossed!!
Hi! Cruise staff does have guest area privileges and depending on occupancy they do have a chunk of time off during the day, but not usually a full day off.

Since we're in Hawaii the whole time you don't need much! Just stuff for the beach and warm weather! You can get everything you need at stores near the port which is really convenient!

Thankfully since we were in Hawaii I was able to go to target and the mall each week if I needed to. But if the ship isn't in the US ill normally stock up on everything before I go of my favorite products. Packages can usually be sent to larger ports!

I know that POA is constantly cycling through people because there quitting but it’s still something I want to shoot my shot at since I’ve been hired. My medical is still with Anderson Kelly. I’ve heard online for some it can take 4-5 months. I’m gonna start college and really don’t want to lose my job/opportunity since I don’t want to put my life on pause for potentially 5 more months when I know nothing of when it’ll be ready
Having lived in a cabin on Deck 2, we had a porthole and water would usually splash up over it. We called the room the “ washing machine”.

When you were student you were probably doing safety drills at school as a teacher I know I am still doing those safety drills.

I just talked to the hiring manager how long does it take to know if and when I get hired
It really depends on position. As a performer it can take months to hear back but they really need staff so I don’t imagine it would be long!
