UTG Pro makes some pretty nice and lightweight riser rails in various heights. It won't score you cool points like a Unity/Scalarworks product, but they're functional.
Didn't know they had a Pro line. I've been eyeing their Super Slim 45 degree Vortex pistol dot mount for rifle use, since my Viper seems pretty solid through NODs.
YHM also has a 13 slot riser it’s longer then the one featured in the video so you can put it on and then mount your red dot and magnifier to the same riser. I believe they are around 33 bucks.
My favorite riser is a $13 1" UTG mount. Its not a true QD mount but it has this super comfortable yet low profile thumb screw that is easy to crank down or loosen with your hand. The clamping side of the mount is pushed open with a couple decently heavy springs and the thumb screw doesnt fully back out. This allows you to take it on or off easily without fiddling with the parts. If something happens to my red dot i want to be able to quickly take it off without tools.
Fantastic video. You just saved me $500. This is exactly the content I want to see from the gun community. Alternatives and new solutions. Thank you so much.
@@TacticalAccountants yes it's the exact same style, but missing the small pic rail section at the back which LaRue has on theirs, and when available was about 1/5th the price
Good luck finding that man... I hunted for the Eotech riser for literally 6 months before I randomly found one in stock at PA. Even called YHM and they said they only make a few hundred a couple times a year so they are super uncommon to find.
As mentioned below UTG has some really good stuff and you can get rails in different lengths so if you want to look a little less geeky or make sure things don't get caught on it you can. I have a bunch of the UTG pro rails and they're very nice and affordable.
I actually used the yhm 5/8” long riser that I had for awhile with a red dot and magnifier. But actually just switched to unity only for the ftc magnifier mount.
YHM also makes a 5" riser that works for scopes, lpvos or potentially a red dot and magnifier combo..doesn't seem too heavy either. I bought one used from a guy for $25. I'm a high optic kinda guy. Makes it easier to get the sight picture with ear pro on.
I used a Weaver brand riser set to do exactly this. It's pricier but also comes with a single slot riser. I bought two of them so I have a 3 slot riser for the optic and magnifier as well as both front and rear iron sights so I can seamlessly use them through the optic if I need at a lower 1/3 view.
Use on drop of blue loctite on each crossbolt and beware of too much torque, the crossbolts are threaded into aluminum unlike something like a KAC 99051 front sight which has a aluminum base with stainless helicoils inserted.
I just put together the Scalarworks LEAP 1.57" ($115), G33 without Lower 1/3 spacer on a Unity riser ($90). Reversed the riser on the rail for my personal preference. Works great. So for $200 you're in business with a solution for your magnifier. You can also use the 1.93" and G33 with 1/3 spacer installed to go even higher.
Imma use this to mount my vortex 3x magnifier behind my unity mounted hs 515gm. Takes up a small amount of space and allows for an optic, 3x magnifier and the use of iron sights. Superior.
Thanks my friend just what I need it for my XPS2-1 I got rid of my fast riser is way to high sits at 2.10in I want it at 1.93 which this YHM should do the trick.
I would like a higher mount or riser for this VOTATU RMD502-EG Green Dot Sight for Rifle Shake Awake Reflex Sight 2 MOA Dot 62 MOA Circle 1x30mm Picatinny Optic Scope on my AR. Recommendations? Thank you.
Where can I find a holosun mount like the one you show here , holosun screwed me when I bought my optic sent me some wobbly crap then I sent it back and they sent on a CO witness, now I have it on nothing so I need something exactly like what you have here. I also have the magnifier so I will probably buy the combo yhm risers.
I tried this out, differing in the use of a monstrum qd .5" riser and a DD fixed front. I wasn't able to see the top of the front post, even after almost bottoming out. The optic is at the proper height, maybe the magpul front sits a little lower than the DD? Not a big deal in any case since the riser is qd and I had everything on hand so I didn't lose money chasing this concept.
I just bought the yhm riser , but it didn't align properly with yhr replica unity mount I bought from Amazon, I'm gonna make sure my magnifier is on the lower 1 third riser plate before returning the yhm riser.
I run a UTG 3/4 with a Holosun 507k. Perfect co witness with my MBUS Sights. System is working perfet after 2200 rounds. The best thing is I got this riser brand new for 10.00$ at the local gun show.
The basic holosun 1/3rd mount has lots of problems reported with warping and the bolts snapping. One happened to warp on me. In addition, it has no locking lugs other than the bolt. Holosuns are great, but unless one has the upgraded OEM holosun QD 1/3 mount; it is good practice to replace them with anything else.
I got an idea for a sight setup: Bobro Double-Decker riser, Aimpoint CompM4s, and EOTech G43 3x magnifier. Pretty franken, probably not very slick, but I'll have to try it out.
The Unity's worth the money, imo. True, not cheap, but those of us who remember carry handle optics can also remember the lost art of saving our money for the non-essentials we want.
I dont like tolerance stacking. Instead of two sets of screws, now you have 3. Even loctighted screws may back off. Anything to consider is that even the tightest screws will create movement. The tolerance of recoil lug is the determining factor. The yhm riser doesn’t have recoil lug. The screws have way too much play for use with a magnifier
I also look at spreadsheets for a living. Tax accounting can be grueling man. Do you know if this Unity high riser mount is lower 1/3 co-witness or is it even higher? American Defense Manufacturing has a QD lower 1/3 riser for various MRDS that's ~$90. Not too bad. But $18 can't be beat, price wise.
Agree the ADM mount is nice and gives 0.6” height as does the Kinetic development sidelok also with qd ability. The UTG super slim and YHM riser are great fixed 0.5” risers. I believe the unity high riser is around 0.6 inches high and meant to take the EXPS from around 1.6? Inches up to 2.26”
I bought a UTG 13 rail, 1 inch riser for $18 with the idea I will try the 1 inch rise with this cheapy and then buy a Unity if I like it. The UTG was so solid and nicely made that’s it’s still on my rifle today. $18. Are you kidding me???
They should have made the rear sight in the Unity mount a blade instead of a peep. Peeps work best close to your eye. If it was a blade you’d basically run it like an AK.
2.26" is still garbo, 2.6"-3" is peak ergo. No need to shrug or scrunch IME. Also Strike Industries t1 riser with a R.EX pict adapter mount is a decent 80$ mount for both.

I’ve used one of those for the holosun on my 11.5. UTG is honestly stepping up their game and some of their stuff is well made.

Tactical Accountant: this rear sight is too far forward for me. AK guys: hold my beer.
Great video! This is the kind of info I was looking for. Don't really feel like spending $200 on a dedicated riser.
Thanks for watching!
I like the time you took to go into depth showing the different options and point of views. Liked and now subscribed great video!
For running a magnifier, you can get the longer YHM riser and just run one to attach both your magnifier AND RDS to.
Fantastic video. You just saved me $500. This is exactly the content I want to see from the gun community. Alternatives and new solutions. Thank you so much.
YHM used to make an eotech riser that boosted absolute cowitness optics to 1/3, it was a great product that I'm trying to find another of
LaRue makes one like that if I’m not mistaken
@@TacticalAccountants yes it's the exact same style, but missing the small pic rail section at the back which LaRue has on theirs, and when available was about 1/5th the price

Thanks for the video! It will be a small Christmas for my friends and myself.
Great VDO & it didn't take too long. VDOs are too long if the info is bad, your info was excellent. thanks.
Thus answered exactly the question I had. Thanks bro great video.
I’m surprised that I didn’t find this video sooner, I know this isn’t a new concept but works for much cheaper.

planning to get two of these for a 3x magnifier and an EOtech XPS 3-2.
Will raise centerline view to 1.91" on both!
HM3X, same one you are using hehe
Another good option is the Midwest Industries NV Height Non-QD Mount for red dots with the T1/T2 footprint. They run about $90.

Great review, for 30mm tube red dots I am using the swamp fox high rings.
I have the longer version and it lasted about an hour during one range session. After that it would rattle back and forth on the pic rail.
Loctite?
Use on drop of blue loctite on each crossbolt and beware of too much torque, the crossbolts are threaded into aluminum unlike something like a KAC 99051 front sight which has a aluminum base with stainless helicoils inserted.

I personally bought a 1" 13 slot skeletonized riser for my vortex micro x3 and vortex uh-1 gen ll holographic sight.
The UTG riser looks pretty good too.
I just bought the yhm riser , but it didn't align properly with yhr replica unity mount I bought from Amazon, I'm gonna make sure my magnifier is on the lower 1 third riser plate before returning the yhm riser.
I like the 5.25” long 1/2” YHM riser esp when mounting both a dot and a magnifier. Aesthetically it looks better too, no gaps under the optics.
if i’m running a 1.93 mount on my red dot will this riser get my magnifier to 1.93?
I understand your thoughts on the sight radius, but what was your actual results shooting with the irons?
I did the same but my riser is American Defense QD mount.

Yes, it will work for anything with a pic-mount you want to raise by half an inch
I got a the unity knock off on Amazon for $15 and I tell you when you put them side by side they look almost identical.
It also does NOT mount a Vortex UH1. Why did they make a mount that only fits aimpoints?
Does YHM RISER HAVE ALONG ONE SO MAGNIFER AND RED DOT FITS
