I adore all your builds and I adore this one! I would absolutely love to see a more in depth enclosure build video. I hope whenever I create my own wooden enclosure and give woodworking a go that it turns out even half as nice as this! Also I think it’s great you did a smaller enclosure for your first custom, even if it wasnt on purpose, it’s gotta be the best thing to do,- I know most people do custom enclosures because they need something large and so they start large. But starting with something small is much better, lower cost, so less material wasted in case of mistakes... many advantages. definitely gonna start small myself!
That’s so funny you posted a mourning gecko bioactive setup video right now cause I’m currently filming one 😂. Great video! Really nice setup, can’t wait for part 2
I'm happy to see new videos on your channel! Your arid bioactive setup is one of the few online that doesn't just ignore the fact that humidity can be an issue with the popular bioactive methods. Keep up the excellent work Dr Long!
Thank you! I think since chameleons are my primary interest I am more paranoid than most about ventilation and humidity levels. By other folks ignoring humidity do you mean ignoring necessary ventilation? What are other folks saying?
This is amazing for your first wood working project! I very much enjoy how much time and effort you put into your enclosures. It is really quite inspiring and amazing! I look forward to your future builds, so please continue making videos. Thank you for the video!
Thanks! My work/project schedule somewhat limits the pace of video production unfortunately - I will be posting part II next week and then I will be back... you know, like, eventually or whatever. Nothing helps building a following like disappearing unannounced for long stretches of time!
It’s already posted! I think there’s a card hiding in this video somewhere, it’s also on my channel. Clearly I’m a bad RUclipsr - the Connor equivalent of manically yelling to “smash that like button!” is basically me saying “it’s somewhere, probably, watch it if you want.”
I love how the enclosure turned out, can't wait to see what plants you put in it! Also, your desert bioactive vivarium series inspired me to make one of my own, and I just added the first plants yesterday! It's not quite done, but i really love the look of it. Your videos really helped to inform me about the various elements of a desert vivarium, and I truly appreciate the dedication and time you put into the channel.
Just a note, a false bottom isn’t as good as Leca or lavas rock, the springtails can get stuck on the water and bacteria can’t grow as well. Love the build
Thanks for the comment - I have had good results with them, I use them in my dart frog enclosure and chameleon enclosure. I usually use some leca in between the glass and the egg crate to hide it from view, so there's plenty of space for bacteria and wayward springtails. Having a reservoir at the bottom just makes it easier to drain.

Thanks! It should be out next weekend. Then maybe I'll disappear for another year.
@@ConnorLongDVM 😂 I hope not!
Great video Dr. Long! Really enjoyed the pacing, not too much info but enough for an informative video :)
Thanks man!
@@ConnorLongDVM No problem! Wish you made more videos!

@@ConnorLongDVM totally the non-chalant attitude we subscribed for. Carry-on good sir, and I'll be smashing that video in a moment here. 👊

Hey I’ve heard the geckos have trouble climbing the coco fiber covered foam, is that why u drylocked it first ?
I drylocked it because it was the wrong color, they can climb coco fiber just fine from what I have seen.

Hi. Great video. Just one note. Fibreglass screen wont stop some insects. Crickets for one chew through it fast.
Thanks for the tip. Hasn't been a problem for me in the past, but I also do not feed crickets.
How big is the enclosure in inches?
