Drove this route to work every day in 1994. Lived in Glossop, worked in Sheffield. Got to know the road like the back of my hand. Still my favourite road in the UK. Great memories.
As daily commutes go, using the Snake Pass every day would be so memorable. Sure, there will occasional closures but it still beats the M1! Thank you for watching.
Right at the conclusion of the video ( Thanks for the film footage) it says "Golf club" that is up a minor road. If the main road is busy, one can use that very narrow street. Makes one's heart race, hoping no one is coming from the opposite direction:)
Word of warning if you breakdown up there like me....theres zero phone signal at around 2.45......I had to walk towards Sheffield as far as 2.04 to get any signal and even then it was dropping in and out.
It's surprising how it's a main road between two of England's largest cities. It really is barren and bleak with little cell coverage down in the valleys. Thank you for watching.
I'm driving this eastbound from Manchester to Sheffield in a couple of days - is it still OK to drive during winter months? Weather depending obviously, definitely doing the journey during the little daylight hours we will have on 22nd Dec!
