Do not do this road at night, gets so foggy at the summit and I really struggled with visibility. I drove back to Manchester through Huddersfield and the M62 from Holmfirth.

A lovely scenic route. Driven and walked that road many times. The only thing to tarnish this wonderful landscape was the activities of Brady and Hindley in the 1960's.

Cat and Fiddle, used to be the gathering place for large numbers of motorcyclists who would then speed downhill to Macclesfield at "no more than" 60mph. It's difficult to believe that civilisation (including Macclesfield) is only a few miles away.

Ah,Tintwistle, camped there with the school. April 1959. when there was still a rail way. It's difficult to remember that the large Greater Manchester area and the Sheffield area and the Leeds areas are only about 20mile/35 kms away from here

Word of warning if you breakdown up there like me....theres zero phone signal at around 2.45......I had to walk towards Sheffield as far as 2.04 to get any signal and even then it was dropping in and out.

Another excellent video - I rode some of the route from Buxton to Glossop on Wednesday on the 61 bus! "Buxworth" used to be "Bugsworth". If you ever get the chance I suggest the Whaley Bridge to Disley road from just past Disley station (coming from Stockport turn right at traffic lights) goes to Whaley Bridge train station. Come round a bend and suddenly there is a large valley and a town in the distance. Surprised me the first time.

This video brought back memories of camping near Tintwistle on a school trip. In 1959 - hardy boys in tents, wimpy girls in huts and bunks...That was when the trains still ran. Thank you.

Drove this route to work every day in 1994. Lived in Glossop, worked in Sheffield. Got to know the road like the back of my hand. Still my favourite road in the UK. Great memories.

Bilberry reservoir is in the next valley over beyond Digley reservoir. The reservoir behind the parascendor is Yateholme.

my step dad came from Epworth, one reason I hated the damn place. He was a drunk and violent with it. Thankfully his drinking contributed to his death. His name was Eric Rhodes. Anyone in Epworth remember him?

Just got my provisional. Ordered a car for next March. Just moved to brid as well so using this to just get familiar with the right approaches to different situations. Appreciate the upload mate. Thanks for these videos, they are very interesting and informative, with some beautiful scenery on the way. I live in Barnsley and am looking for places to drive not too far out with my teenage kids, just to show them how beautiful this part of the country is, And to let them appreciate what is virtually on their doorstep. We don't have to go too far to see some breath taking countryside.

Great video but many roads on this route are now cut off by bollards and planters mainly for cycles. Notable also that there was not one cycle anywhere to be seen on any road or on the numerous cycle lanes. An update would be fantastic but get ready for a few three point turns!

Travelled that road dozens of times over the years in all sorts of wether.
