Quickstep in a jiffy for social dancing.

Quickstep is not only the most important dance on this planet, but also the easiest to learn.
It’s literally the dance you do to every type and speed of music that’s not a waltz. And that is probably 99% of everything you are going to hear, everywhere you go. It’s a partner dance that covers all speeds and is also the base of the girls Jive step.
Now before I have all the fancy, politically correct, competition, airs & graces dancers having a mental breakdown here, just go and do your thing, enjoy yourselves and stop tormenting yourselves looking at my videos. I’ve competed in ballroom before so I know what you’re going to say before you say it.
As for the down to earth, God fearing, bacon & cabbage, tax paying, good old country Irish folk, this is for you 😊
You can learn this in a couple of minutes. You don’t need to know your left from your right. As a matter of fact don’t even think about it.
You’ve only two feet and you’ll only ever have one free to move, wherever. It’s more simple arithmatics than having any dancing ability.
Although you can learn this in super quick time, you’ll need to practice to bring up your speed.
In every social dance the length & breath of the country they play the same speeds within reason. Slow music which they call foxtrots and fast music which they call quicksteps. It’s the same dance. So when you’re starting make sure to get on the floor for the slow ones just to get used to dancing amongst a crowd. And when the quicksteps come on don’t feel the need to try and keep up if you’re struggling a bit. Go your own pace. The only thing that’s important is that the two of you are going the same speed. And doing the same steps of course😂
It’s the exact same steps for the girl if she wants to lead and the exact same steps when you turn.
There is a different turn out there called a pivot turn which is used in strictly ballroom but the men or leads never need to know it or use it.
Yes it’s handy for the girl to know it when she dances with someone using it but in social dancing it’s 99% the easy same step turn.

So away you go! With these simple steps you’ll be foxtroting, quicksteping, doing the taxi dance and along with a auld waltz and a slosh you’ll be good to go in any dancehall in the country.
