Starscourge Radahn has absolutely legendary status in the lore of Elden Ring, and rightfully so. He's also known to stop players dead in their tracks from advancing in the game because of his immense power and overall tough boss fight. In this video I cover my tactics and strategy to take him down.
The Golden Order has been broken. Rise, Tarnished, and be guided by grace to brandish the power of the Elden Ring and become an Elden Lord in the Lands Between.
In the Lands Between ruled by Queen Marika the Eternal, the Elden Ring, the source of the Erdtree, has been shattered.
Marika's offspring, demigods all, claimed the shards of the Elden Ring known as the Great Runes, and the mad taint of their newfound strength triggered a war: The Shattering. A war that meant abandonment by the Greater Will.
And now the guidance of grace will be brought to the Tarnished who were spurned by the grace of gold and exiled from the Lands Between. Ye dead who yet live, your grace long lost, follow the path to the Lands Between beyond the foggy sea to stand before the Elden Ring.
And become the Elden Lord.
Elden Ring is an action role-playing game played in a third-person perspective with gameplay focusing on combat and exploration; it features elements similar to those found in other games developed by FromSoftware, such as the Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki explained that players start with a linear opening but eventually progress to freely explore the Lands Between, including its six main areas, as well as castles, fortresses, and catacombs scattered throughout the open world map. These main areas are interconnected through a central hub that players can access later in the game's progression-similar to Firelink Shrine from Dark Souls-and are explorable using the character's mount as the main mode of transport, although a fast travel system is an available option. Throughout the game, players encounter non-player characters (NPCs) and enemies alike, including the demigods who rule each main area and serves as the game's main bosses.
Combat in Elden Ring relies heavily on character-building elements found in previous Souls games and related intellectual properties, such as calculated and close-ranged melee-based combat with the use of skills, magic abilities, as well as blocking and dodging mechanics. Elden Ring introduces mounted combat and a stealth system, the latter being a core gameplay element from Sekiro; these features are expected to encourage players in strategizing their combat approach with each unique enemy they encounter. The game makes use of a player character stamina bar after being absent from Sekiro, although its overall influence over combat was reduced compared to previous FromSoftware games that utilized it. Unlike in Sekiro, resurrection mechanics after in-game death are not available; however, some elements were added to ensure players' progression within the game.
Miyazaki stated that the customization in Elden Ring would be richer, as players are able to discover different skills through their exploration of the map instead of unlocking skill trees as in Sekiro and differing from the pre-fixed weapon skills of FromSoftware's previous games. These skills are interchangeable with a large variety of weapons which, alongside equipment, magic abilities, and items players can craft using materials found within the world, can be used to customize the player character.[4][6] The game also features summoning mechanics, where players can summon a large variety of collectible spirits hidden throughout the game's world map, including previously defeated enemies, as allies to assist them in battle. Similar to the Souls series, the game's multiplayer allows other players to be summoned for cooperative play.

Tried the horseback method with bow and died multiple times. Tried your method and it worked like a charm!! Died a few time but eventually learned enough of his moves to survive. So much more satisfying to go toe to toe with him. Thanks a bunch!

That looks really intimidating at first but you make him seem like a kitty playing with his miniclaws...amazing.
Again this is crazy useful man. I am massively intimidated by radahn. Never beaten him before. Even once the updated it to allow buddies in to fight with you. You make it look easy but you've also made it easier for me. Still not done it yet but so much closer thanks to this!

Love this fight the lord and spectacle surrounding the fight, charging in with the summons, the meteor attack. Love it, love it, love it.
thanks man, this helped so much! first time i fought him i thought he was going to be hard, after some time of playing and leveling up, took your advice on dodging the arrow then running back, he pushed and i shredded him.

I learned in other Lore Videos that the horse was Radahns childhood pet and loved him so much that he basically offered himself to permanently carry him after his injury from Melanias scarlet rot. (he lost both his feet) Radahn loved the horse so much that even in this battle he is using a levitating spell causing him to hover slightly over the horses back causing him to not take all of the Generals massive weight. The lore in this game is awesome.

I struggled with him all night last night. I watched this and beat him on the 1st try. My problem has always been feeling like I need to avoid him. I've beaten the game 3 times and still struggle with him after forgetting the strategy.

the little trick at the start saves this even now after the dlc is released im doing my second run of the game (no summons) because i want to challenge myself lmao and this saved it ahahaha

I beat him without looking at any vid… I just looked at this for the comments and to see what I could have done but all I did to beat him was learn his move set and how to dodge him. He is a big and very intimidating boss especially his surprising speed and arsenal. This is my first souls game btw and I only beat him in like 5 hours and a half or a lil more.
My build was this when I beat him:
25 vigor
16 mind
14 endurance
50 Strength
13 dexterity
12 intelligence
10 Faith
10 arcane

For those using bleed-katana build.(blood flame) 1st phase is easy just dodge that whirlwind attack.. as soon as second one starts refill that bloodflame incantation and use the *MOUNT* and hit only the horse in this way you can dodge most of the attacks (except that whirlwind). And thats pretty much it.
Can confirm the running away method in the beginning still works May 2024.

If this is still to difficult for you, you can use the scarlet rot dragon breath incantation (got from the cathedral of dragon communion in Caelid) to completely cheese this fight like I did, just running around on your horse avoiding him. I almost felt guilty for this but I was too lazy to actually fight lol

I used to get hit by his flying beyblade attack last second because of how many active frames it has
It has an insane amount of frames to it, definitely had to make it known to dodge very precisely to avoid it. I'm still caught off guard by it, glad I was able to show how to dodge it properly in this video.
Fuck Radahn, I played this game for 30 hours then rage quit when I got to Radahn. Two years later and I’m giving it another try. Got to Radahn and he’s beating my ass again. I’m not gonna give up this time tho.
The problem is, practicing is hard on the PS4 when the load screen is so long agate every death… i would rather cheese it

I litterally just used a big sword with frost and bleed and just wailed on him. Damn bleed is good
beat him in my first try. No so hard. But used the entire npc lol. Dude couldnt believe it. I summoned everyone
I was prob over leveled when I entered, (94) and bloodhound fang was at +6 with the bloodflame on it for bleed and fire damage, after I rode around with npc summons and boss was distracted, I hit the boss three times hard and did the bloodhound step which got him down to quarter health then he jumped and disappeared, when he came back I let the summons fight and he killed then all, I summoned a few more on horse and then once he was distracted, two bloodhound steps from behind and he was done, boss fight lasted maybe 2. Min but the one that gave me most fun so far out of main bosses

This guy was the easiest boss for me. I just kept riding my horse around and resurrecting whoever he killed.. lots of jumping and sprinting the whole time.. I'd rush in and take the occasional one hit and get out.. go do more resurrecting... Ended up joining in for the last 20% and took him right down.
You can resurrect everybody? I mean all the characters that he killed?

Thanks for a strat that doesnt have you jumping on and off your horse over and over again. Thats terrible for me. I van fight on the horse (dragons) or off it but when i have to try to call it mid fight i always get squished.

What's the build you are using in this video?
I am yet to face caelid and so intimidated by that area especially because of radahn. Someone told me that If I trigger any grace at altus plateau I start the festival to begin and the very first thing I have to do in caelid is defeat Radahn and then proceed. How accurate is this?? Or should I ask How Fuxed am I??
You are not forced to fight Radahn after going to Altus Plateau at all. You can do everything else in Caelid except the optional fight at the fortress just fine.
@@theJOSHfeed thanks man I was curious as to what will happen if i have accidentally triggered the Radahn festival. Also m at 40vig 25end 30str and 22,dex m carrying the night cavalries helberd with is leveled upto 13. Do you think I have a chance to beat him???
I'd say yes, be patient and learn the right moments to dodge and counterattack. It'll likely take practice but that's the nature of the game!

Wow, with 2 greatsword bleed (guts sword) jump attack its about 7 to 12 seconds faster. But this worked with me, so i dont reccomend my playstyle.
Whenever I go under him and try attacking he just immediately hits me

I was underlevel. Had to obtain Antspur rapier and npc summons to help me defeat Radahn. 😂😂😂
