Took me like a month and a half to tame my two birds. Stay consistent!!! Is this biggest thing. What kept me motivated was watching tiktok's of other tamed budgies
Bro it took me longer it took me years bro lol 💀
Step 1 :don't tame 2 parrots at once🗿
years ism crazy lol@@vaanikarthik
@@Wockhardt-oo3sl I say like 2
Do you have any other tips. I am getting an untame 2 year old cockatiel in a few days and i could really use the knowledge and expertise
Took me 2 months to tame my 2 cockatiels,,I was at them 3 or 4 times a day and one day, they sat on their perch and stepped up..I was so happy.don’t give up and they will get tame.
Only one of my birds is the slightest bit tame, I have two. The other one is female and the tame one is male. My female is very wild! I need to work on taming them, especially after getting their wings clipped, and after my male almost got killed by my kitten and dog because he will be less trusting now!
@@revengeofthemutosclipping their wings is so cruel do u wanna lose your legs ?
U dont deserve for your birds to like u
It's been more than 6 weeks I am trying to hand tame my cockatiel. I got them when they were 40 days old Chick. Now the are almost 3 months. They didn't like the force feeding so I left that. Now I feed them seeds and millets on my hand. They do come om my hand and Finger only If I keep food, without food other one never comes.😔 I'm feeling depressed bcs of that. Any advice ?
Hey, I am planning on getting a cockatiel. I just wanted to ask if it's okay to get just one and not a pair.
@@Joonpathy yes, that way it will bond to you and not another bird.just make sure to interact with it a lot.
I have a new 3 month old budgie named Sky. She got used to me really quick and I think that’s because of the budgie we already have in the house named Lemon. My suggestion is to let your new bird hang around with experienced ones if you have others, watching over to make sure they don’t fight. It helps a lot. (LOVE this video btw!❤)
Yep, a tame bird will show them they have nothing to worry about! And thanks
I have two budgies that are named Sky and Lemon too
I one time had a budgie named lemon he sadly died
Taming is the process where we need patience and time
Great tricks n tips❤❤
It's been a year, still mine is always aggressive
@@porenesianparapio6934some stay aggressive it's their personality
@@porenesianparapio6934armyyyy
Thanks! I just 2 cockatiels and they already step onto my hand I going to watch more videos and hopefully become closer!
He is so cute
I'd try to slowly move your hand and gradually show your open palm, but every time he shows any discomfort, stop right away. Try this a few times everyday, show your palm a little bit more everytime he's more comfortable with it. Persistance and patience is key! Good luck
Can it be any age? And my bird bites can u do a video about that?
Could i cut her wings to let her outside or with her wings? She's a white-faced cockatiel..i took her five weeks ago and she stil very agreesive Pls answer tome i wanna tame her...Can upls say to me some methods too?❤❤❤ Also your cockatiel os very beautiful is it male or female?
@@Arrow_0n_paws0 hi sweetie, please never cut your bird's wings! this is very traumatic for them, it would be like c*tting off our legs. their bodies and metabolism is fully adapted to being able to fly so it's also very unhealthy for them to not be able to fly. the only safe ways to take your bird outside is in a cage or in a harness! i speak from experience because one of my previous cockatiels was found in our yard and he had clipped wings. so that means his owners went outside with him after they clipped his wings, but he still managed to get away because of wind. clipping is never a solution!
good luck with your bird. my bird is female and her name is ellie, unfortunately she passed away 4 weeks ago :(
@@birdyandbailey i dont mean to cut all of it... I don't know how to say it but btw any methods to tame her?
@@Arrow_0n_paws0 even though you only 'trim' the wings a bit, it's still very traumatic for the bird. i really recommend you to not do that. every educated and responsible bird owner will tell you the same exact thing :) my most used methods are in the video, i'm sure there are more tips to find on youtube! good luck
I give my cockatiel some carrrots and she absoulutly loves it! I tried coriander and watermelon but she likes carrot the most she will kill for it.
I think my birdies hate me 😂😂 I have never tried to tame a bird but I’m trying and whenever I get near the cage they just go crazy 😂😂
I've had 2 lovebirds for 6 months now and I've followed every advice I've been given. Spend time with them, read loudly next to them, put my hand in their cage, give them treats in my hands, etc. They roam free in my room and are comfortable being around me now, when I lay down, they love to play on my body and when I'm sitting at my desk they get on my head, but they are still so extremely scared of my hands. As soon as I move them they fly away. Even if I'm not moving them towards them.
I've never done anything to make them think that my hands are a threat and I have no idea why to do anymore. I'd love to be able to pet them, make them step up, play with them, but it's impossible because of their fear of my hands.
oh my god your cockatiel is adorable
Thanks so much!
Ah thank you so much because my cocktail is so scared from hand's,i will try...
Me too and he keeps biting me idk why He's been with me for a three weeks and nothing has changed
@@0zaxr56don’t force them if they bite they are scared. try to place your hand on top of their cage for a while, be the one to feed them and clean their cage. it takes time specially for smaller birds it can even take up to 3 months or more just keep doing it everyday
The pikachu of birds
Thank you it helped me a lot.
I’m thinking about getting one so i wanna know everything about these cute little parrots 🥺✨
if you aren’t patient don’t it tales months too tame them if you are patient than go for it
former cockatiel owner (mum) but she raised many fledgling lovebirds with dad- and the original pair together, before they washed it to raise me in our new town....wish they didn't rid the cockatiels- they were so cool (I didn't remember the animals prior or the birds,,,,,but cocoa and peaches were our 'tiels.
left the cat to a good older couple, left the pitty to a good man trying to grow in our tow yard.
I miss those animals...I hope they fared well..
I know they did. I just wish I could've met them since moving as a child.
It took me approximately 2 weeks to tame my little parakeet and now my next step is to let it out of its cage for some exercise😊
do you have any tips?
@@roman_koi I’m no professional, but the treats(mullet)does wonders and also don’t be afraid of them biting cause it doesn’t hurt that bad. And have them get used to you have by normally placing the hand by them. Remember to be patient with them and don’t force. When they are finally getting used to your hand try placing your finger on their belly just a little above their feet. Now I’m still trying to tame my older bird but he doesn’t seem to like me yet. Hope it he will soon. Please let me know if any of this helps!
@@raneemarabi3725 thank you for these tips! i will definitely try! i have older birds too but i be consistent! thank you!
That’s very impressive! I’m getting a budgie and this will help a ton!
@@0Banana0_ wow that’s awesome, make sure to treat it with lots of care and love and give it he best life❤️❤️❤️
I've never taken my cockatiels out of the cage, they are so scared of me. I will try to tame them and play and let them freefly in a bird proof room. Their feathers are not trimmed btw. I dont like clipping a birds feathers ✨
Mine was scared of me at first too mine would scream hiss and bite but I used millet were every time mine bit me I put it away for 10 seconds tried again and if they didn’t bite I would reward with millet and praise
Also if they are hesitant with the millet hold it from afar and once they get more comfy get closer to them while handing them millet
Thank you!
You have to teach me how this silly billy! To stop eating everything my bird that's looks like yours keep eating my pillows, shirts and everything he sees!
My bird does this as well :( Be careful, foreign bodies can obstruct their gastro-intestinal tract and they'll need surgery. But surgery is very high risk for birds
Thank you I’ve somone what been able to tame one of them without this video expect for my other bird I will definitely give this a try, thanks a lot
This was a awesome and helpful clip, just subscribed! Keep up the good work 👏💪
I was looking for a Minecraft tutorial and now i ended up in here
welcome 🤣
Im going to give it a try. I got 7 here, 3 females and 4 males.
how’d it go? Must have been hard.
would love an update, i am about to foster 5 too!
good luck!
My cockatiel loves movies
I had a tamed cockatiel but it died a few months ago rip Lucy she was a good and bootiful little girl
I just got my new Cockatiel named Kuki and this will help me, thank you!
My cockatiel is taking forever to tame😅
Patience is key😁
mine too
I’ve separated my two. One stepped onto my finger so I took him out. The other is still in the cage refusing to step up. They both are able to eat out of my hand so I think they aren’t that scared. They are stubborn.
I'm just at the part where I slowly put my hand in their cage ill do it for a little while
AAA im so excited! Im saving up for a cockatiel and getting the cage on christmas!!
Don’t be discouraged, it took me about a month with my first Parakeet before he would fly to me from his cage on his own. Took me roughly 2 months for my 2nd bird and going on month 4 and my 3rd is still absolutely petrified of me. Keeping birds taught me to have the most patience EVER
What do I do when she’s not eating?
As an owner of an grey pipe i can confirm this
Omg, thank you for the help my bird would never trust me now in a couple of days I can finally let him out of the cage!
I have one to 💕
I successfully tamed my cockatiel!🎉
Thank you 👍
Yo thanks it help me a lot cuz my pet need like a month to know me:)
Now ima get a bird
Tysm! I git a cockatiel recently and he went in our house for a wee time then after the next day, we put him on in the outside cage. His been talking a bunchh
Thank you for a visal! I will be taming one in a few months! Thats so sweet! And the seeds are his/her reward for his taming time???
Bro my cockatiel cannot be tamed, each time I get close it flies away, very wild poor Riwi I want her to be friends with me so bad

me going near my cage
my cockatiel: atak
My cockatiel became a bit more aggresive when we got him a partner, but it is so funny because he still goes on my shoulder and occasionally forgets the female is there and asks for pets and the partner is really friendly, unless you ignore her, every time he wants to go in his cage, he jumps onto my hand its so funny
I'm guessing it's so funny.
I just got 2 cockatiels and whenever the female is nearby he will keep biting me and the female and growl at me, I don't know what to do.
@@pengos1639 leave it, train him little and little at a time, talk to him, and just be patient
omg i have a latino cockatiel named ellie too!
I have to re-tame my cockatiel because one of my friends were not being very nice to her.
that is so annoying
oh no :(
I'm still taking mine but I was taught to first take a perch and put a millit infront of it so that they come on the perch THAN you can do what you did
I have a new cockatiel. However, its 6 months and wild. Its been 2-3 weeks since we got him but he still keeps stepping back when i get my hand even a little close
Cute❤
Woah!! Not that complex process at all. If you have the cheek from since it's born, start spending time with him from the start. And if you bought him, spend time with him too but you need to give more time. As simple as that.
I would like Some advice. I have a lovely little few weeks old male cockatiel. ❤ So far he's been eating village from my hand and Eating it from my fingers. But he still doesn't like my open Palm. And proceeds to move away whenever it gets too close. Or just kind of opens His beak and his is at it a little. I'm not sure what to do, I'm being patient of course but he hasn't bitten me or tried anything aggressive other than those behaviors. When he goes in for the bite he doesn't bite me and really just nibbles and then moves away. So if you have any advice on what to do I'd appreciate it
Updated: He's a happy little tiel. Now won't leave me alone
how did you fix this problem? im in the same situation right now
@arhan8766 I kind of just waited for a while until he stopped flinching away and gave him some treats. I left the cage open for a while and the first time when he got out. Waited for him to get back in the cage. Or just scoop him up. Didn't bite me or anything. The second time I needed to get him back in the cage cause mom. I scooped him up, but surprisingly he didn't run. He just kind of looked at me offendedly and then just saw my arm for a while. I then practiced stepping up with him like this. It's a little rushed, but it was effective on him. And now he won't leave me alone. Lol, So if your bird doesn't want the gentle treatment, scoop him up like he owes you money. XD
Thanks 👍😅😊
I can barely do step 2 and 3 because she bites every time I get close I've had her for a while now but can never figure out how to stop the biting she has made me bleed more than once and doesn't like to let go
My cockatiel is okay when I come close with my head and even let's me pet him with my nose. But if I let my hand get too close to him he starts getting a bit aggressive and tries to bite my hand. But he still flies onto my hand when I call him or when I just reach my hand out in the air.
love you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I hand raised my cockatiel but after she was done weening she kinda didn’t like me as much and would fly away but a couple days ago I tamed her once again all I did was snuggle with her by putting my hand around her to keep her from flying away again and apparently my bird likes to be held like that so now she’s tame again 😂
One of our previous birds was kinda… Forced… To trust me… For a little bit…
He managed to escape hes cage, and our dog was chasing him…
Got our dog away, and birdy was exhausted and scared… So he instantly jumped on my finger and i took him back to hes cage.
Didnt have to hold him tight or anything… Was just sitting on my finger… Catching hes breath, as he was safe
Passed away recently sadly (if its the same bird… Have had a few, 2 looking almost identical)
Still got 1 bird, gonna try to tame her
Also planning on building a even bigger cage for her so she got room to move around and have fun
sorry for your loss!
Damn I bet that cage was expensive!
Chances are 50/50 but maybe imma name my cocktail Terence or pickachu :D my birthday is in dis month
Kust a note to you the viewers cant see notes left behind/ aroybd the captuoning or aub button. I have no idea what the note in the bottom left corner said.
I used to let my bird out of her cage before she was tamed and when it was time for her to go back in her cage she didnt go in so i would hold her cage close to her and she would go right in
I think my cockatiels got traumatized by the old owner because they hate humans 😭
For me my cockatiel warmed up to me really fast so mine only took less than 2 weeks but it took only a couple days for him not to bite and step up
aww.. the cockatiel is soo cute!my bird was like that.. unfortunately.. my bird cockatiel flew away(escaped)becuz he was frightened by the umbrella😢
I have a question, can we still tame it if it's grown?? ✨💞
Mine bites all the time
Thanks so much! I am still trying to convince my parents to get me a cockatiel, as they are my favorite (non wild) birds, and look super pretty. Right now I am making a website that has reasoning for why I should get a bird, prices, reasoning, and of course funny little pictures! I am planning to finish it in two days, So I am probably gonna be working all night on this, rest in peace my sleep! 💛🧡🤍🩶
Can you do this with two birds? One is more tame but the other goes absolutely crazy if you put your hand in the cage and i fear all it does is make the tame one weary
I tried this tutorial and it worked pretty much! But i'd like to say, i just got my ears pierced for the first time and she keeps chewing on them like its food, so no shoulder😂😅
cute💜😍
but how do i do it with lovebirds
Hi I’m new to bird keeping, I recently sheltered a bird that showed up on my doorstep and it’s a cockatiel, any tips on what I could do so it won’t be afraid? It’s very close to me and sits on my hand, shoulder, and head any tips appreciated:)
What should I do if I have two lovebirds, one of them trusts me and doesn’t bite, but the other doesn’t like me very much and bites me? When I give them treats for good behavior, they won’t bite but the other sometimes will
Thanks gonna try it soon on my to angry chickens
Good luck!
Fortunately i tamed my cacatua in 4 days cuz he was really scared of my hand so i directly give his food by my hand but he was a lil bit strugling to step on it but i made it
What about African Green Orange Parrot but not a Grey one (Even in the philipines🇵🇭
Good job, mine he’s not getting used of my hands but I have patience because it’s my second bird me and my first bird we are so so close and good friend🫶🏻

Hi, this cage is 2nd hand:( I don't know where it is from, so sorry
been a year and my bird only lets me pick him up to help him back to his cage 💀 he bites if i try to pet him
For step 3, both of my birds are aggressive males(with one of them being the most aggressive). They will bite my hand instead of eating the treat. Any tips?
Mine are opposite they always bite me and run away from me i always cry for them
What if you have a big cage and each time you want to put your hand in, it flys to the door and hangs on the cage door? I wouldn’t mind allowing him going outside the cage but the issue is him going back inside without me chasing it or waiting hours before he does. Ideally I wanna be able to do step up inside the cage before I’m ready to let it come outside but I cannot do that if he’s on the cage door. Also, he’s not scared of my hand as he allows me to touch him through the cage rails and is content with my hand’s litterally right next to him. Any suggestions?
I am currently trying to tame my rose ringed parakeet but how do i put my hand out of the cage when she ate all the food out of my hand because im kinda scared she'll bite me or something and idk why because she never really bit me before
Can you do this after you've had them for a while
if I hive only millets to my bird from.hand they will let me touch them and if I feed them on my hands and I push my hands a little to their Fluffy tummy they will go on but I'd I go somewhere else they will go back there
WAHT SHOULDI DO IF MY BIRDS ARE FIGHTING TO EACH OTHER?
Ok so I don’t own a pet bird but I went to the pet store and I found a bird and it instantly tried to climb on me and uhm it really liked me
Hello.I have a pair of cockatiel. Both are wild. But they have started trusting me. They eat from my hand but won't let me touch them.I want to get them out of their cage but I am scared that they won't get in and I don't want to force them by touching them against their wish. Can you help me? What should I do?
When the light is dimmed or it's getting darker outside, birds can't see very well anymore and will be more likely to step up if you talk to them and handle them nicely. You can try this in the cage first, and see if they will step up (So when there's a dimmed light in the room or when the sun is setting (don't do this in pitch black, because they'll get very very scared!)). If they don't mind stepping up then (because they can't see properly and don't really know what's happening), you can let them out of their cage and get them back inside the same way.
If this doesn't work, I'd suggest not letting them out of their cage until they trust you a bit more. You can lose all of their trust if you have to catch them.
What you can also do is let them out, and wait until they go back in to eat or sleep and then close the door of their cage. But be careful, some birds won't go back in because they like being outside more!
Good luck
Got this saame bird yesterday but man hes hella scared i try to stick my finger gently sometimes he stops and likes the pet but sometimes he just runs away 😂 im new to this soo im still learning too
My new bird is very shy i gave it water and it’s food but hasn’t touched it yet I’m a bit worried about that but other then that slowly trying to get him comfortable
I got 45 day old cockateil, I'm trying my best to hand tame them. I spent more than 4-5 hours with them. One of them started perching on my hand but the other one doesn't come on my hand if there is no food. Even the one which i little bit tamed she don't come when i call😢. They domt allow me to give scritches. Its really frustrating. It's been more than 6 weeks now they are 60 days old. Please give some advice. What should i do ? Is it possible to tame them ?
you have to teach me how my cockatoo flies to me
Cockatoo or cockatiel? They are different, the one in the video is a cockatiel, but they might know either way. To tell, I think cockatoos can only be white with a yellow fluff on their head while Cockatiels can be yellow, gray, and (maybe) white and have red cheeks.
