1:15 That hi-hat groove sits so well with that guitar riff. Everything from his playing, techniques, composition, mix, and mastering is perfect. Sebastian is one of the best drummers in the world, no doubt. :O
Yes, and I think with David Diepold we will lose that groove. They are totally different techniques, and you could already tell the difference when he played covers of Obscura (Difference in favor of Sebastian). They are both great drummers, but that strongly mixed groove is unique to Sebastian.
@@NarMattaru I don't actually worry, it is not something David will not be able to nail. I'm sure he'll contribute some amazing drum lines and bring forth a more aggressive approach to the rhythm section. I see people talking about it like David is a noobie. Don't worry, he got this.
I love these double kick patterns so much, I want to have a romantic picnic at the sunset with them, tell them I want to get married, buy a house travel beautiful places and want to have little patterns, so I can die old and with a smile
Just...so...perfect. Really-perfect. Sounds like he had Danny Carey for breakfast, with a side of Minneman and Bozzio. Love his work with Panzer Ballett.
What is this? A drum video from 2019 where the drums sound like ACTUAL drums instead of overproduced, overcompressed, over-equalised carbage cans? And there's DYNAMICS too?! Sincerely though, sick video. Wish more people made their kits sound this good these days. Herr Lanser is a beast behind the kit, too!
So I am trying to understand triplets vs hertas. I understood these to be hertas, you guys call them triplets. Can someone explain where I go wrong? I believe a herta is where the count is 1 2 3 4 and you play the 1 2 and 3. And a triplet is where you would play 3 stokes in the time it was supposed to be 4? ruclips.net/video/kiScdsaD2GU/видео.html
This is one of the greatest drumvideos i ever seen. This is pure skilll, non of the called youtube drummers are not even close😄. Found this today and im am watching it for the 10th time i think🤩🤩 awesome
I get so many vibes from this between Death, Meshuggah, Mudvayne, and a buncha random other shit haha...superbly happy that I just randomly discovered this gem 💎
Yeah, I sort of agree with you, but I saw an interview with Steffen Kummerer. He explained that they wanted the bass to stand out more. Like it was a 3rd guitar instead of it just following along with the "rhythm guitars". So, hopefully, if you try to keep that in mind, it will help you maybe change your mind a bit about the bass tone. Though I admit, it could be just a tad bit better.
Christian Baumgartner You might think of Mudvayne when you hear that bass tone however it was used back in the 90’s on one of Deaths later albums. It might have only been on one track.
@BeardedDanishViking It's the same idea regardless of the specifics. The bass guitar tone Martine used was very similar. And coming from the 90's it's obvious.
I definitely agree with you all, let me just clarify that that tone is absolutely sick, I didn’t mean the comment in any sort of negative way. I’ve always thought it sounded like a chainsaw ripping through water, especially on L.D. 50.
So many great parts to this song but the part tha hits me most is at 3:46. He does the 2 blast beats and goes into that gnarly kick pattern. Perfection!
This dude is badass we appreciate you have to appreciate it by wearing some killer headphones or put in your stereo on about six or seven with the base up and treble up and watch this dude on a big screen TV through it

Sorry, but what does "foot-to-foot" mean?

Thanks a lot, man. Will do
I could hear his voice whike reading this lol
I’m so amazed by this guy. Such a fluid, yet technical playing style that is insanely satisfying to watch.
Gabriel Gomér Drums I know right ❤️🤘🏼
Everyone in Obscura is a legend. I listened to this album at least 3x per day when it came out.
I love these double kick patterns so much, I want to have a romantic picnic at the sunset with them, tell them I want to get married, buy a house travel beautiful places and want to have little patterns, so I can die old and with a smile
That was scary yet amazing at the same time. Obscura has brought some dramatic changes in their song writing.Much technicality and well crafted.
Yet they'll never been top OMNIVIUM in my opinion

Best song from the latest album! This is a tech death masterpiece! Hands down to Sebastian!! \m/
Awesome! These drumpatterns, the style and the fretless makes me think of Sean Reinert (RIP)
I'd rather say Bobby Jarzombek
Just...so...perfect.
Really-perfect.
Sounds like he had Danny Carey for breakfast, with a side of Minneman and Bozzio.
Love his work with Panzer Ballett.
i can't get enough of this song!!! It's such a masterpiece!
Masterfully written and played!!
Absolutely incredible performance. Lanser is one of the most interesting and technical drummers in metal right now.
If I could play drums like this, coronavirus isolation would be way more fun.
You're totally right. I don't even mind being in isolation :)
paulo sampieri great drummers & isolation go hand in hand
Just fuckin’ awesome!!!!! More of this drummer pls 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
Those transitions from 16ths to tuplets...my god, so flawless...
RIP Obscura... this is so good. The new Obscura will be kewl with David Deipold, but still.... Sebastian is a god
people were saying rip obscura when Hannes left too, but all 3 are world class drummers, it will be interesting to see what David brings into the band
Although Sebastian is my prefered drummer in Obscura, David Diepold is a force to be trifle with.
To be honest David is doing amazing in Obscura, he fits in very well and in my opinion A Valediction is one of the best albums they put out
What is this? A drum video from 2019 where the drums sound like ACTUAL drums instead of overproduced, overcompressed, over-equalised carbage cans? And there's DYNAMICS too?!
Sincerely though, sick video. Wish more people made their kits sound this good these days. Herr Lanser is a beast behind the kit, too!
Funny you say this when the cymbals are buried under the mix.
I only read true informations here.
1:48 my god, that lead foot switch for the triplets is nice and clean
Most impressive part indeed, I guess only drummers can notice that ;)
100%! My double bass isn’t near that pristine.
He does this on a few other videos also. His technique is probably the best sounding to me.

I can watch this dude for hours.. Such a unique approach to death metal/metal. Shit is refreshing to say the least.
Just the pinnacle of tech/death playing. I love drummers that can play their amazing work note for note.
Wow, amazingly tight playing. One can hear that every drum hit is played with full intent. Great playing!
So clean on so many levels. Kit looks amazing and sounds killer. Love that little double bass pattern at 1:53 - 1:55!
There is something so METAL about TAMA drums … love it
Awesome playing, phenomenal snare sound, thunderous kicks! 🤟🥁
I didn't know this drum now I became a fan. Congratulations extreme musicality.
There is such thing as perfect timing....absolute machine
Flawless bro... just flawless!
Fala mano !!

wow; stunning work! Creative, technical, groovy, musical, inventive... the list goes on, bravo!
Even though I'm a drummer my favorite part was the fretless bass!!!
It seems so simple, but yet so complex all at the same time!!
yeah. it gives it that otherwordly flavour that only a fretless can do
Wait. Isn't that a sad elephant singing along?
@@berkeunal5773 I think ov a clown playing the bass when I hear it. The bass is great but since @craigreynolds said it, I can not unsee it lmao
