- This video covers everything you ever wanted to know about using Trulicity for Type 2 Diabetes. PA David covers what the medication does, how it's used, the common side effects, and shares his personal thoughts on the medication based on his own clinical experiences.
I have been taking Trulicty for a while now and I swear it works great, EXCEPT I hate the side effects. But I will put up with them because it is saving my life. My blood sugars are about 100 or less. My A1C last time was 6.0 percent. I am losing weight slowly.
Fantastic video, both content and production quality. Just started Trulicity yesterday, and it appears to have really stabilized the rate of change of sugars (much less roller coaster effect). Keep up the good work!
Thank you. It made me see the best way of getting myself on the positive side.
I picked up my first box today and needed more information. Thank you, you eased my mind.
So helpful. I was just prescribed Trulicity injection by my doctor I didn't know how to use it. I didn't asked my doctor question because I thought this is the same way as insulin. I was wrong. But thanks God I get your information. That was easy and fun. Thanks again. I gave a thumb up and you have a new subscriber.
Thank you! I started Trulicity today and was flying "blind"; you answered all my questions! I really appreciate it!
Same here!
I had been on Trulicity for 4 years before an insurance change made it unaffordable. I had great control using Trulicity and Farxiga. I am now on Lantus and will be adding Trulicity back next month. Other than a depressed appetite I had no problems with Trulicity.
Thank you I am start it
So detailed & easy to understand. Thank you 🙏🏼 immensely
An absolutely wonderful presentation about trulicity. I feel much better as I start the use of this medication tomorrow; and, I am hoping for good results as so many others have achieved by the use of this medication/drug. I absolutely like the good presentations manner of presentation; and, how many concerns/questions are answered in this video. Thank you for your outstanding video. Father Vern from Iowa.
Dude was easy to understand and has a sense of humor, really personable and makes it more comfortable to start new medication

Great video. It really gave me a better understanding of how the medication works.
i just started 0.75. Today i did my 1st inj. We will see. The video is superb!!!
This video is amazing and has answered so many questions I had about taking trulicity. I was recently prescribed this as my A1c was at an 11.3 (despite being on Metformin). Thanks for this video and the channel as a whole!
Thanks for you feedback and kind words. Glad it was helpful!
Hi, thank you for your comment.
Same I just got described it yesterday and I'm on metformin as well 11.6 on the a1c
Started this today hopefully it works for me 😊
Thanks for the video, it has really put my mind at rest, I've only started injecting trulicity so it is very early to see any significant change, you have answered all my questions, linking forward to a near normal life, keep up the great work you are doing
Very helpful 👌I have had bad bloating issues that are very painful. I have had amazing results from Trulicity and also lost 20 lbs. Thanks for sharing 👍
I’m glad u said something about the boating because I have been having them for a minute and didn’t understand why? Did your bloating stopped after using this medication?
Do you get really smelly burps?
@@plubin123 no smelly burps, but I do burp a lot
Thank you so much for this video, is very informative and right to the point. The fact that all this is coming from a PA. is a mayor plus. I just got my first 1.5 dose on this medication. My highest levels are around 260, so let's see how this works.
I’ve been on Trulicity .75 for about 4 weeks now. Little to no side effects. Occasionally I would get a nauseous feeling but if I eat something it goes away.
Just took my first shot tonight about 6 hours ago. So far no issues. Fingers crossed 🤞. Thank you for the video. Subscribed:)
How has your weight loss been now
I recently been prescribed for this medication and it's working very successfully for my diabetes!!! First of all you need to change the way you eat and respect the fact of being a diabetic and you will see much improvement in your health as I did weight loss and I'm feeling totally fabulous . Yes I totally agreed about the side effects I get a little nauseating and the medicine doesn't allow me to over eat it decrease my appetite thanks for sharing this video
My PA wants to put me on this ! I’m a diabetic 2 for two years and taking two pill meds a day and not working !
She will let me know tomorrow because she has to find out if Medicaid will pay !
Thank you for your videos . Helps a lot !
Glad you found it helpful!
Starting my first 0.75mg dose today. I’ve already lost almost 20lbs within the last two yrs. Hopefully I won’t lose anymore than I have to. 5/9” 183lbs. this morning 🙏🏼
excellent video. thank you so much! im new to this and obviously very apprehensive. you helped me tremendously and i just used this for the first time. the pen was so simple to use just like you demonstrated. thank you again!!
I've had diabetes for several years. Have been taking Atorvastatin, Metformin, Glipazide and Lisinopril. Lately, I'm having trouble controlling my blood sugar and don't want to take insulin. I hate the idea of sticking myself every day with insulin so I tried Trulicity a couple of years ago and it didn't seem to help my a1c but after seeing this explanation, I'm ready to give it another try.
Excellent video, very informative and entertaining. Thank you!
This was very helpful. So easy to understand. New subscriber!
Thanks for the video as a first time user I was scared this video def helped me do it by myself thanks again
Very informative! I started Trulicity today and I’m so nervous reading all the negative reviews online. I gave it a go to see how my body reacts to it. 🤞🤞 thank you so much for the helpful video!
Glad it was helpful! Hope everything goes great.
Sugar High everything was going great until today. I’ve taken the higher dosage yesterday and I feel so nauseous I can’t even walk around the house. I’m going to fight it to let my body get adjusted, hopefully I feel better soon. pray for me! 😂
What insurance do you have and how much did you pay out of pocket? Thank you
@@sandralissiaarce276My cost was $0.00. Thank God.
Type II Diabetic in Dallas
Im currently using it and its definitely worth a shot.
Excellent video, very informative and friendly!!
This was an excellent video! I just started taking Trulicity today after taking a combination of metformin, glipizide and Lantus (insulin) . My doctors and I want to see if we can reduce the number of meds I take daily. They've stopped the insulin for now. Keeping our fingers crossed!
Thank you for a great and informative video. Enjoyed watching.
Thank you!
When my doctor prescribed Trulicity to me, I asked if I should let it warm up before injection. She said she didn't know, and to ask my pharmacist. My brother had to pick it up, and did not ask this. I have seen a different doctor since then, and she also said she did not know, and ask my pharmacist.
Because I did not know whether to let it warm up , I have been taking it out and letting it warm up while I take a shower. I guess I should continue this, but I will be asking my pharmacist anyway.
Amazing review!! THANK YOU!!!!
Very helpful and informative!
Do you have any updated videos on Trulicity? I am looking at the comments and they are 2-3 years old. Also, I thank you for your explanation of this med, I have been afraid to inject the medication prescribed, since I have never had to do this before with any other med. This video encouraged me and took away the fear of using the Trulicity. Thanks for all the info, the only thing I didn't hear was the best time of day to inject.
Thanks for this video I am about to do my 1st 0.75 injection I will keep you all posted
i am type 2 diabetes for last 8 or 9 years, always on metformin with quick brake for insuline (pregnancy) but after giving birth my body went into strange mode and I couldnt stabilize sugar level. Doc gave me trulicity and I am already starting second week. I see it working but those side effects are really not very fun to work with :) hope my body will adjust.
Great video, you told me more than my doctor about this drug and I am glad I found your chanel. I subscribed :D
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Hopefully those side effects will subside soon!
You should not be promoting this Poison! How much $ are you getting to promote this Weasel! You paid off MF make me sick literally!
Thank you for this video. My dr gave me the first injection. I’m doing my first injection today. This helps
I did not feel a prick did u have to press the pen hard against your skin
very details explanation, thanks for sharing
This video was so helpful thank you. Just took my first dose today along with Metformin, which I've been on for about 12 years. Injection was so easy and didn't feel a thing. I feel fine a few hours in and keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way :)
How did it work out?
I love this my ins would not cover ozempic so I wasn't sure how good trulicity would be, side effects were not bad and I lost 5 lbs also brought down my a1c. The only thing is wake up before using it. I accidently left the cap on the bottom once and the medication went all over. Super easy to use and if you let it warm up and make sure if you use alcohol it is dry first to avoid sting, you don't even feel it go in.
Great content on Trulicity. Thanks!
Perfectly good blog doc...thank you doc
As soon as Kevin appeared I gave the video a like! Jokes apart this was very informative, I changed from ozempic to trulicity and it works much better for me. No side effects and overall I feel better.
I am searching for someone who is going through this. I am about to switch to Trulicity from Ozempic because of insurance. I had to adjust to Ozempic but since then it has worked so well. All my bloodwork has been fantastic and I feel great. I am just worried switching will make me go through the adjustment or new side effects again and lose all the progress I had made. Ozempic was working and did what it was supposed to do. Lower my A1C, drop my glucose levels, I'm off 5 other meds too. Some weight loss as well but not the biggest deal. I hate the fact that I have to rely on some insurance company to just mess with my hormones in the space of 30 days and not my own doctor because I can't afford to go from a co-pay to $1100 a month.
I was traumatized by the insensitivity that was shown to poor Kevin. 😅
Excellent review! Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for breaking down the use of Trulicity. I was a little afraid at first but since seeing watching you I believeI will be okay. First time user !
You explained sooo well. Thankyou
good info about room temp before injecting, thanks.
Dr, you're amazing, thank you for helping me with my first injection
I’m someone that is very sensitive to medications and side effects but amazingly the only minor side effect I had from Trulicity was slight nausea after eating for about an hour and then it went away.
This was good to know, because my stomach is very sensitive. I’m starting Trulicity today for the first time.
I've just started on Trulicity again after three months, it's really hard to get at the moment. I found that eating less reduces the nausea, I think it's because food stays in the stomach longer. It has a positive effect on my food bill. I shop just a little less often. Though I find it difficult to finish a loaf of bread, I only get half way through before it goes mouldy. I have to freeze half of the loaf when I bring it home. Also when I stopped while it was unavailable my weight went up really fast and I was tired all of the time, no energy at all. There is no way I could stay on my feet for nearly eight hours like I did today. My blood sugar was nearly 16 yesterday before I injected, it's dropped to 10 today and still falling. It would be nice to see the green light on my meter again. Now, I hope I start losing weight again as fast as I did before and keep losing it. I lost about 15kg while on it last time.
Trulicity tubes used to have two marks vertical lines whose function was never described. I thought it might adjust the depth of the injection but they are not on the recent tubes. What were they?
I know this video is 2 years old. Trulicity is higher dosage now. My Dr. Start low and now am on 4ml. When the dr. Moved my to 4 I started with severe side affects. I had really horrible hiccups that I could not stop. I had gas continually. And then on top of it I’m not sure what body part if it was intestines or something else where they literally rolled and flipped the doctor that prescribed it is on vacation but the one that took her place tell me to stop taking it until she gets in contact with me when she gets back. Also, pens can be faulty when I was on the 1.5 mill the whole month of pins did not work one week it actually sliced about 1/4 inch of my skin.
@@rashitahenderson4902 was it painful?
I just started truelicity today, love this video I subscribed!
I have trulicity and other weight Loosing supplements if you'd want to get some.
Hi Doctor, First of all, absolutely loved this video. I live in Australia and I was started on the 1.5mg/0.5ml Trulicity about 6 weeks ago in conjunction with Januvia, Jardiance and Rosuvastatin. From what I gather, I am among the unfortunate few that get to experience the seemingly brutal side effects of Trulicity and yes, I have lost weight as well. I am trying to soldier on as I think the severity and frequency of these side effects are decreasing although quite slowly. I also am trying to standardize my diet as I personally find the side effects worsen with carb rich and sometimes fatty and spicy food. So basically this drug is forcing me to start eating what a diabetic should be eating anyway since I have no real will power to do it otherwise. Like strong patches do to a chain smoker trying to quit. But this is also causing constant tiredness, lethargy and admittedly some strong mood swings. It is affecting my work and thinking straight for any extended period has become difficult. From your experience with your patients so far, how much longer (roughly) may it take for the body to get used to Trulicity and I can get on with life as "normal"? Thanks in advance.
Are things any better?
@@mikeinfinity2005 Yes, I daresay it is. With my diet standardized, I now get sick (bloating, some nausea, etc) only during what I guess is the weekly peak of the Trulicity action (3rd and 4th) days. This has been the pattern for the last 3 weeks or so. Any slip ups in the eating department, the drug promptly puts me in place withing an hours or so! So, yes it is much better but I will hardly call it normal. But then again, as a diabetic of many years I guess "normal" is very subjective.
Very easy to use yes I am taking it once a week thank you for the information you had I sure appreciate it I sure appreciate it thank you
I’m starting my 1st dose of Trulicity tonight. Nervous about side effects but excited to lower my A1C. Wish me luck!
Ive been on it for about 4 or 5 months now and it seems to b helping me loose weight and sort my sugars out
Doing my first dose tonight!!
How did you go Miranda? I am putting off my first dose. Hope it went well for you.
So happy I started it. In 4 months I’ve lost 20 pounds, lowered my A1c and had to 🛑 stop my insulin cause my daily sugar levels were dropping! I feel great!!! Side effects were very minimal for me. Good luck to you!
@@mirandameza2198 Great to hear Miranda and thanks for the good wishes. Keep up the good work.
Great video. I have been using Trulicity for more than a year. I was injecting it into the back of my arm by my quad muscle. A nurse told me to 'roll' my arm to get the fatty outside part to come out. I did this but my blood sugar was still in the 400-500 range with proper diet and exercise. I just tried the way you showed in the abdomen. I hope this lowers it.
Any updates? Thx
Did you make any changes to your diet? Type 2 Diabetes is a dietary issue. Try lowering your carb intake. I keep mines to around 30 carbs a day and my A1C fell from 11 to 6.3. Diabetes is just too many carbs for your body to process resulting in too much sugar in your blood. Current treatment of diabetes focuses on the symptoms (high blood sugar) and not the cause (large number of carbs). Best of luck to you managing your diabetes. Check out "Beat Diabetes!" video on RUclips.
Your blood sugar was 400-500; you didn't go into a coma
@@foreveryours7464mine was so high 1 time they didn't have a reader that could read it. I was carted off to hospital and pumped full of potassium over night
Thank you for the information!
I took my first dose yesterday after taking Metformin for the last 18 years, my Doctor switched me to Trulicity and Glimepiride because I was descending into kidney failure and the Metformin wasn’t helping matters? Anyway....I gave myself that shot and YOWZA! it burned and left a nice lump and bruise. Late last night I started to get a little nauseous but nothing a few saltines couldn’t take care of. Thank you for the fabulous video. It really helped my first time. THANK YOU THANK YOU.
I'm truly sorry to hear about the discomfort you experienced after your first dose of Trulicity, but I'm relieved to know that you found the video helpful in navigating through it. Transitioning from Metformin after 18 years can indeed be a significant change, especially when considering your health concerns.
Experiencing burning, lumps, and bruises after injection isn't uncommon with Trulicity, as it's a side effect reported by many users. However, it's essential to monitor these symptoms closely and communicate them to your doctor. Nausea, too, can be a side effect, but I'm glad it didn't escalate for you.
Remember, your health journey is unique, and adjustments might be needed along the way. It's fantastic that you're proactive about managing your health and seeking out resources like this video. If you have any further questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider. They can offer personalized advice tailored to your specific needs.
Wishing you a smooth transition and improved health with your new medication regimen. Stay strong, and take care of yourself!
I just started this two weeks ago. First week I was throwing up for three days and second week I have it comming at the other end. Today will be my third shot and hope this week won't be bad
Update week three went better and only had nasal. I think the reason I was started on the higher dose vs not starting on .75. Shot 4 will be tomorroq

PA David your videos. One question? Any studies on using combination of SGLT@ and Glp1 at the same time?? It seems that gaining the advantages of both therapies would help both A1C and morning fasting
Good video and information
I took Trulicity for over 12 months my good right eye Catract developed so fast I need a Catract operation.
I was started on the 0.75 dose after 4 weeks there was no real effect (in conjunction with Metformin and Januvia). My provider increased to the 1.5 dose. I did see a slight change in my daily glucose numbers. The injections were very simple with the device. I tended to have more of a startle reflex when pushing the activation button (compare to opening a can of refrigerated biscuits) then pain. After two weeks on the dose and midway through third week severe side effects hit (vomiting, diarrhea). My provider and I couldn't rule out food poisoning (recent travel questionable restaurant) so we tried the 4th dose after those effects wore off. This dose took "severe" side effects to the next level. I don't say this to scare anyone. My take-away is my provider and I probably could have gone a few more weeks at the low dose which may have started to show improvement as well start showing side effects at lessened intensity. For me this was not the GLP of choice. (As a side note we did rule out pancreatitis the vomiting and diarrhea brought some abdominal pain...with the use of Januvia needed to check-negative.) Hope this is helpful. New to your videos but they very informational! Thank you.
How much weight did you lose?
Thank you very much
Amazing videos thank you.

Of course all the best, I’m starting tomorrow but have been using byetta each day so looking forward to only 1/wk injecting. Trulycity are more advanced in technique and easier.

Hi. I love your videos. I used Bydureon with Metformin. I could not get under and A1C of 7 mostly cause of my diet, but Bydureon along with walking, got me down to 5.2. WOW. And of course, now they have discontinued it. I had NO side effects while taking it. What in your opinion would be me a replacement with the same kind o weekly dose medication??? Im not that familiar with the history of these other pens. Why do they get rid of the things that work?? Claims it was a business decision???
Redness and itching around the injection site is the negative side effect that I experienced which I did not experience when I took Ozempic. I was prescribed 3.0 Trulicity.
I’m using the blue one now! Love the video thanks 🙏
Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for your feedback.
I'm about to start it today. Nervous but hopeful
How are things going with Trulicity? I just started taking it.
Wish I had found this video 4 weeks ago when I started using trulicity. That said my biggest issue was gas. The oh so wonderful sulfur burps, the loud and stinky farts, I was loose the day after injection but that's become more constipation. The injector system is really nice as I hate needles.
Are you still taking it? Still have the burping and gas? Any other issues?
@@oscarm.4078 The burping and gas has slowly stopped, though I do sometimes get the Sulphur tasting burps. The problems with my GI tract has smoothed out as well. Overall I have done pretty well on Trulicity.
Hi thank you so much for these educational videos. I do have a question. My doctor wanted me to use Ozempic but at the moment I do not have insurance so trulicity has become available to me and I can afford it.
But I really want to use the ozempic, would there be an issue switching from trulicity to ozempic when I get my insurance back?
Awesome review, David. Do you think the nausea you mentioned at 14:06 for the high dose of Victoza is what causes the side effect of weight loss? All this stuff is so interesting. Thank you for teaching me!
Nausea can definitely be part of it. But even outside of nausea, these meds decrease appetite in general, prompting people to eat less. It went kinda quick in the video because I was trying hard not to spend too much time on statistics and data, but you might have noticed at 15:21 that Victoza has one of the highest amounts of decreased appetite amongst all of these meds.
Sugar High yes! I did hear that. That’s why I was wondering, is the nausea the cause? I was listening to your video in a loud car so I couldn’t hear :/
Also- are the weightloss effects for victoza long lasting or do you gain the weight back once you get off it? Thanks again for the information.
@Michael Carney orrr do both so that you are able to control your blood sugar, while you also work to resolve the actual disease with diet and exercise.
After stopping Victoza or Trulicity, the med will eventually work it’s way out of the system and the appetite suppression will fade. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the weight has to come back on, though. Maintaining the same diet and lifestyle would allow someone to keep the weight off, but they wouldn’t have the appetite suppression there to make it easier.
Great information! Way better than my doc...lol Note: needle burns a little for about 10 secs as meds go in, but good after that.
Glad you found it helpful! Thanks for sharing your experiences!
PA David love your videos. One question? Any studies on using combination of SGLT@ and Glp1 at the same time?? It seems that gaining the advantages of both therapies would help both A1C and morning fasting
I’m not aware of any studies that were designed specifically to evaluate using both in combination. There are plenty of studies that tested one of these medications and allowed participants to take medications from the other category. But it wasn’t the primary objective of the study. That being said, I use them in combination in my own practice all the time and have generally had a lot of success.
@@sugarhighchannel Thank you for the reply. Your the best and the videos are great

Great explanation. Nice strat and tele. Starting 2nd month of trulicity. Gained fie pounds. who'd a thought.
Thanks for your feedback. Hopefully the A1c will drop enough to make it worth it, even if the weight isn't going in the desired direction.
I love it how well Trulicity was able to control my diabetes right after the very first shot of 1.5mg. My glucose level has never been as smoothly in range in years. But the side effects seem to be so horrible that I hesitate whether I want to continue. Nausea and mild pain in the abdomen are nothing, but the main bad effect was severe indigestion I had developed on day 4. I ate a small pizza at lunch and went for a walk. By the end of the day, and most of the next day I was suffering from stomach burn and bloating, and a strong rotten egg smell coming out every 15-20 minutes. It seemed like the food was still sitting in the stomach and rotting all this time, Without this, I was thinking it was the best medication to control diabetes. Not sure if this severe indigestion issue would persist, or would go away with any following doses.
"severe indigestion" Same here, antacid works most of the time. Avoid certain foods. Pizza is a big no-no for me as well, all of that cheese, tomato, spicy processed meats and bread. My farts smell like the skip behind McDonalds. I don't even want to think about the explosive diarrhea. And I'd probably avoid an open flame in enclosed spaces. The indigestion gets better after a few doses, though you may have to adjust your diet for best results. Find what works for you.
@@zaibian7 It wasn't the tomato, cheese, or meats that made you feel sick. It was the bread.
What is a diabetic patient doing with pizza. Most definitele Will get side effects from processed flour, sauce and all other ingredientes. Work ur diet first

I'm on my second month of trulicity .75. The first month every thing was fine but this new box seems particularly "stabby". Last Friday it left a bruise on my stomach and when I did my thigh today it's a pretty tender with a slight bump. Is this just a calibration issue or fluctuation between boxes? The medication did inject.
