  • Heron Fitting (under 10M ISK):
    1x Core Probe Launcher I
    1x 5MN Cold-Gas Enduring Microwarpdrive
    1x PL-0 Scoped Cargo Scanner
    1x F-90 Compact Sensor Booster
    1x Relic Analyzer I
    1x Data Analyzer I
    2x F-89 Compact Signal Amplifier
    1x Small Low Friction Nozzle Joints I
    1x Small Emission Scope Sharpener II
    16x Sisters Core Scanner Probe
    1x ECCM Script
    This Heron fit is geared towards the cautious Alpha player wanting to hack in Nullsec:
    1) Use a Noise-5 "needlejack" Filament to enter NULL
    2) Use the Map to route jumps to systems without players in space
    3) Stop jumping through gates once you are noticed by a few players in local
    4) Wait at a bookmark until your 15 minute Filament timer is up (turn on Sensor Booster)
    5) Repeat steps 1-4 to continue Exploring day-trip
    6) Use Home-5 'Pochven' Filament and Glorification-1 'Devana' Filament to return to JITA or RENS
    The 2x Signal Amplifiers and Sensor Booster gives you a Gravimetric Sensor Strength of 39 points, which make you almost impossible to combat scan. You can "relax" at your bookmarks.

    i never knew it was unscannable by combat probes, i'll be a lot more confident now

      It's not completely unscannable, someone with virtues can probe a ship at the 106% cap.
      The chances of meeting such an individual is low but some high end wh corps are both rich enough and paranoid enough.

    You can shift-click on modules in fitting to cycle states in the opposite direction; makes it a single Shift-Click to go from Active to Online instead of three regular clicks.

    Great idea to max out sensor strength! It even makes it harder for hunters to lock you when you are hacking, I think.
    I have been watching your videos since last december and thanks to your channel I am now plexing my account and already doing exploration in a Pacifier with over 200 scan strength :D

      Thanks! The idea of the Sensor Strength came from a subscriber (@vladimirmarkov1063). I tested this on an imicus navy issue and it worked great. So i found a way to add to this Heron.

    Great video Bob, a very good question would be - Could you go AFK in a deep safe spot while doing the "Pochven Express" think, that would be the selling point of that fit (or just waiting for the next Needlejack filament to roll a better null system). Also I would love to see a ship like Nestor trying to scan that fit. Unfortunately I am a poor alpha and cant test it my self but for you bob that might be a great You Tube content :) :) :)

    • @DoddyIshamel
      @DoddyIshamel 7 месяцев назад +1

      Nestor has same probe bonuses as cov ops 5 so its no different. It won't be able to probe it, unless the pilot has maxed probe strength (so virtue set) in which case it will just be very difficult and annoying.

  • @overbe

    The danger of exploring Nullsec doesn't come from combat probes, but from bubbles, camped prescanned sites and inability to tank 10k explosive dmg when you fail hack in ghost site.
    With this fit you are toast in those situations o7

      If you explore in metalimal storms combat probes are a big problem. That is a place we're k would Def use this

    • @alphabob_eveonline
      @alphabob_eveonline  7 месяцев назад +7

      Yes, there are a bunch of dangers and ways to die in NULL space. And there are different play-styles which will benefit from different ships and fittings.
      This Heron fit is geared towards the "very" cautious Alpha player wanting to explore and hack in Nullsec. Using Filaments to enter and exit NULL, using the Map to route jumps to systems without players in space (based on the average players over last 30 mins), stop jumping through gates once you are noticed by a few players in local, wait at a bookmark until your 15 minute filament timer is up, and then using a Filament to jump to the next Null region or return back to Jita. This can be relaxing unless you are spotted by locals and they start to combat scan your ship. If you have to wait 15 minutes in that system, the constant jumping from bookmark to bookmark is very stressful. So having the Sensor strength to remain un-scannable at a bookmark is a great benefit.
      Bubbles on the gate: Now finding a Sabre on the other side of a gate waiting to drop a Bubble on you is almost always death, and this Fit won't help in that case. Even a sub 2 second align time won't help against a competent hunter, but I'm working on another Fit that has the speed to fly out of range of the Bubbles and allow you to warp off. This gives you a fighting chance to escape, but requires not panicking and a little bit of luck. I consider this Fit for the more advanced Alpha players out there.
      Pre-scanned and camped sites*: Can be avoided if you don't run sites when there are players in local. I will run a site with a player in local if I see they are docked in a station. You can have a hunter who enters your system and warps directly to the "Ruins" container at the Relic site you are hacking, but if you stay on top of your D-Scan, you should have the time to warp off.
      * If you are running sites in a Wormhole (players don't show in local chat), you can have a hunter who is cloaked 150km+ and they warp directly on top of you. In this case you need that fast align time and reflexes of a cat!
      10k Explosive dmg from a "Ghost" site: Don't do these sites in a Heron. I have an Astero fit for Alpha players that will tank the Explosion, but you still have to quickly warp off when the "rats" randomly (30 secs - 2 mins) show up.
      Thank You for your comments!

      @@alphabob_eveonline I'm living in the most lucrative null region and earned over 100 billion by mainly exploring. I know how our guys hunting neuts. This fit is death. The moment neut is seen by ANY of the guys from our coalition, we all get messaged via intel channel and the bubble will get setup on the way, if at least one of the hunters are online. Newbros will get WAY more out of fast exploration ship. At least they have a chance to juke sabre in a bubble with cloak and heated mwd. Even if they die, they get invaluable experience. Just my 2 cents. Cheers o7

      Bubbles - OK, is an issue. Camped prescanned sites - why would you ever run sites in null with anyone in local? Failing a hack in a ghost site - they're rare as hell anyway, but why would you ever run one if you know you can't tank a fail, and you don't have a spare ship nearby? So basically, non-issues aside from bubbles. If that's a frequent issue in whatever region of null you're exploring in, use a nullified interceptor with a buffer shield tank instead of an exploration frigate - harder to scan with, but just says "no" to bubbles and most smartbombing situations.
      Propose another fit that fixes the issues you mention, and I'll find you a new list of issues with that one. There is no perfect ship and fit that counters everything at all times.
      EDIT: I forgot that interdiction changed a while ago, so you don't even need to use an interceptor and sacrifice scan bonuses - just use a CovOps ship with 3+ high slots, fit a nullifier, best of both worlds.

    I've got a question about scan probe strength. Is there any benefit to increasing strength once you have sufficient strength and skill to scan level IV? Finding scanning much slower than these videos. Wondering about adding a sisters launcher for an alpha clone

    • @alphabob_eveonline
      @alphabob_eveonline  6 месяцев назад

      if you are new or you get killed often, hold off on the Sister's launcher for now. With a higher scan strength you will scan sites a little bit faster, but the extra cost will hurt if you lose your ship too many times.
      I just did a TEST with scanning 11 signatures in a wormhole with 73 pts scan strength and then again with 102 pts. The scan with 73 pts took 8 minutes and 20 seconds, while the 102 pts took 6 minutes and 40 seconds. Not a huge difference, but could give you time to run an extra site before someone comes.
      I will release a video with my 2 scanning runs tomorrow.
      Once you upgrade to an Astero, you will want 105 pts to scan down the Superior Sleeper Cache sites, one of these sites will pay for your Astero.

      @@alphabob_eveonline Wow, thanks for the thorough response. I noticed in your 5 billion isk challenge vids the scans go way better than for me. For some reason I almost never get a signature when I reduce the radius by 2 increments, and I have to be very precise when I centre the probes on a signature. I was wondering if this is because you were in an electrical storm with 20% extra scan strength.

    what's the point of adding 2nd low friction nozzle if the alligntime will not be affected because of the server tick?

    • @alphabob_eveonline
      @alphabob_eveonline  3 месяца назад +1

      It’s cheap and might help with lower skills. But not much use with my current alpha skills.

  • @Comet0529
    @Comet0529 7 месяцев назад +1

    I've read that considering the server tick rate is 1 second, improving the align time by less than 1 second doesn't actually change anything. An align time of 3.5 seconds and 3.9 seconds will always be rounded up to 4 seconds. Is that still true these days? Been away for crazy long at this point.

    argh. I cannot believe my new Gallente exploring alt, with a scan strength of 95 in an Imicus, is going to Jita to buy the Caldari Frigate skill, simply because the Heron is that much better of a ship due to the midslots. Balance pls CCP.

      @alphabob_eveonline  7 месяцев назад

      in Jita, sisters probe launchers are 28M isk. It's a good upgrade, and more scanning strength will only help. it just more than doubles the price of this Fit. Once you fell good about surviving for a few trips into NULL, then go ahead and get this upgrade. And later on, you can upgrade to an Astero fit for around 100M.

    not possible even with sensor strength higher than scan res to avoid combats. max skill toon+virtues will get this scanned down every time. they stopped the whole unscannable thing when they patched slippery petes back in the day

    • @alphabob_eveonline
      @alphabob_eveonline  7 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, there is a point when the Scan Probe Strength can be high enough to scan this heron fit, but the highest Scan Strength i could get was 144 pts (which is 72 pts for Combat Probes). I have a 6% scan implant, but the full set of virtues implants runs 1.5 Billion ISK.
      Realistically, what are the chances that a random hunter in NULL has this setup?
      Best i could tell from videos, the average hunter with combat probes is around 50-60 points.
      I took a bunch of scans with different "strengths" with using a focused formation perfectly centered on my target heron. Then i interpolated those results, and best i can calculate, a hunter would need 78 points on combat probes (156 pts on core probes).
      The idea of this fit, you would be safe for 99% of the hunters that might try to scan you down.

    'in NULL (invisible to combat probes)' - this part is irelevant. When I get a heron kill in Null, I either camp the site, drag bubble it or camp the gate. So, not having any bubble/scram immunity = NOT a NULL fit!

      Of Course you are vulnerable at Hacking sites, gates....even "cloak" can''t save you in that case. The point is that alphas can't use cloak when they need, instead they could use that fit.
