Great talk, but the specularity on Alan looks a bit too shiny.
Clearly the whole talk is CGI
Really broke my suspension of disbelief
Does this go into Positive or Other?
I think he nailed the feeling of weight just right this time though!
I mostly feel like he lacks weight
Some of the greatest visual effects I've seen on this channel. Tricking the audience into thinking Captain Disillusion left the editing room.
Captain Disillusion never did leave the editing room. This is Alan giving the talk. Don’t you follow the Patreon feed??
yeah
@@ADAMan123the edit function exists
"room" is generous. He lives in an editing closet. Not enough room to stand up straight.
It was Alan all along!
The audience was well generated. Almost feels like you were actually presenting!
Nice comment, really portrays the feel that you're actually clueless.
Now am confused, are they real or generated?
@@ELYESSSthe audience is clearly made of foam, the shine gives it away
Bender? Ah, he's standing in front of the L. Gotcha!
The timing and volume of their cheering wasn't very believable considering the content of the talk though
You are a good public speaker, Alan. You really “ratcheted” up the excitement level at that conference.
Yeah, real bit of weight behind it this time
@@ChristofferLund He hammered home the points, too.
He really wrenched victory from the jaws of defeat by the words of those commenters
Props to the guy
people are really foaming at the mouth to make puns in these replies
What a banger analysis from an unpaid intern. Dude should start getting paid if you ask me.
I love your vids, homeless guy
Please Uploaf
Uploaf
This guy knows the deep CD lore
Alan did a good job reading the script you gave him, Captain Disillusion. Almost seemed like he knew what he was saying.👍🏻
That's probably the Captain himself, wearing makeup to look like Alan. Just so that Alan gets to take the blame going forward.
I'm just glad the Captain is ok after what happened with the robot.
It's sort of wonderful how petty and pedantic you can become for the right causes 🙂
This was delightful.
I cannot tell if this is negative or positive and honestly that's funny as fuck
Can I put your channel in a microwave?
@@TheBluePhoenix008 It is definitely positive, hah.
Is it a good idea to microwave this?
Pettiness is the greatest motivator in all life.
Your ability to "stick it" to others while still being a nice enough guy is unchallenged by any other human on this planet
Dude really knows how to love with his heart, and use his head for everything else
@@MaxMckayful being the intern of CD for so many years has certainly rubbed off!
LPL comes to mind…

1:29 I love how you used the Default Cube for the first bar in your bar chart.
Now we need to know is the Blender Conference is CGI or not.
The audio used for the audience reactions is very convincing, but the shinyness of the bald heads looks much like that of the foam props. We may never know for sure. Great presentation though!
what gives it away is the lightness of the "microphone" that is used. there's no heaviness to it
If you look closely you can see that most of the crowd are just foam stand-ins
That's what I was trying to discern!!
It was clearly made with Maya
A new 2023 BLENDER CAPTAIN DISILLUSION presentation??? Dreams really do come true.
jaden williams watches captian disillusion! this is good news.
Does it scare you that he posted a new video? Does it scare you Jaden?
NAHHHH
wasnt surprised you were here since every visual fx legends watch Captain.
YOU??
Having a new video of Captain Disillusion, no matter the topic, is alway refreshing
*always
Yup.
@@ADAMan123😐
The infinite commitment to the bit is always amazing
You are a funnier public speaker than most stand-up comedians IMO. I've watched and rewatched your first Blender conference so many times even though I've never used Blender lol
You get your point across so well and funny as always, pity your character model on the stage here just doesn't feel like it has the right physics somehow :/
??
I do hope you're not suggesting that Alan appears lightweight.
@@MrDaddyGazz the person on stage is obviously CGI, why would some random guy know so much about CD's behind the scenes?
Just a little too shiny.
@@DeclanMBrennan Better than the alternative, no?
the transition from the blender workspace to the bar graph was top tier comedy. all the work you put into this presentation was so thoughtful. i appreciate that you did it with the intention of entertaining that audience of your real-life peers. you clearly have pride in what you do.
4:00 The "no sense of weight" critique is something that I constantly say about coffee cups in virtually every show I watch! It's so bloody easy to tell when the cup is empty, but they act as though it's full! Why not just put some water or flour or something in it to give it some weight!? It would look 10x more realistic!
I agree. Flour, sugar, any type of powder really. Something to make the actor super self conscious about not moving the mug too much lest they get covered in powder. That would absolutely make me enjoy every show more.
Jesus Christ, I never give Captain Disillusion enough credit for his acting chops. This had me in stitches.
Always love your live audience presentations, nice work!
It was even funnier in person! Best talk at the con 😄
I was looking for this comment to determine whether the audience was real or CG 😂
@@thebrycecarter this guy is a plant. It's clearly computer generated. You can tell by the pixels and stuff.
@@thebrycecarter how do you know this comment wasn't CG?
@@fios4528 Obviously the comment was typed using a computer (phones are computers), so it is, technically speaking, computer generated.
Debunked using technicality, you love to see it.@@rafaelribas1027
That transition from the starter cube was hilarious 🤣
I honestly didn't know you made Shorts until this video.
I use extensions to never see shorts in my PC browser, and the NewPipe app on my phone to never see them there.
The reason obviously being, that if I want 60 sec garbage looping endlessly, I would use TikTok, not go to YT. (Also, f*%k vertical.)
But your stuff is the first Shorts content so far that's a good and worthwhile experience, even without a lobotomy.
Pro tip: change “/shorts/“ to “/watch?v=“ and you get the regular UI!
@@Agnes.Nutter or simply just replace "shorts" with "v".
@@angelbear_og oh really! thanks!
@@Agnes.Nutter I am using a plugin that replaces /shorts with /watch in the url automatically and redirects to the video that way. i really cant stand the endless looping of shorts when i wanna read the comments and i cannot skip forwards/backwards or pause... :I thats why i use the plugin (on firefox)
@@Agnes.Nutter It's still 60 seconds of vertical video puke though, getting rid of the annoying UI is just eating garbage with silverware.
So nice of you to let your intern Alan give a talk.
It was a super entertaining talk, thanks for making the conference just that bit more fun. Keep it up!
I absolutely LOVE CD's talks. They're always so well done/presented
Ah Captain D, back at it again. Painting his full body a pink, peach color. I love videos like these that explain in further detail what you did
A man of many talents none of which are lacking, love your multi-dimensional art
Everything you do is art, Captain!
Petition for Captain Disillusion to start paying Alan for all his hard work.
All the content you make is art... it all has amazing editing, direction, pacing... don't think you aren't an artist, and a damn good one.
Only the greatest blend head in the world could make such a good presentation. Thank u Alen 🙏
Ahh I love your talks! It's such a pleasure to watch a professional talk about their craft :) And you do it in such an entertaining way too! After a quick glance at the title a part of me hoped this talk would be similar to one's you did in the past length wise, but hey, an hour or 6 minutes - gold is still gold :) keep up the good work Captain!
And you got ahead of the curve this time to kill the infinite loop. You're absolutely brilliant. I have no words
Oh Captain D, no matter if it's long or short, everything you blend turns to gold 😁
I love your sense of humor, and the way you made it look like you were actually on stage with effects was brilliant. :p
I love watching him live. His comedic timing never fails, and I get to know some cool bts facts! I also loved all 3 of the shorts he's done so far, so I hope he finds the time to make some more, because they're amazing quality, and super high effort! He treats them with the importance of a full length video, and that's what makes them special!
i lost it at the blender square haha
Alan, you're awesome. Please keep doing what you do. This is something else completely.
Love it. I think artists and creatives really need more in the way of "feedback survival" training, and you're a shining example of how to!
I love your stuff, man. The effort and knowledge presented always inspires me. Thank you, Captain Disillusion, for sharing yourself with the world in this way. Gives me hope, and you helped me through a very difficult time in my life, you live in my head rent free, my man.
Seriously, thank you.
I love how Alan is able to entertain so much with every story he has to tell
You are so entertaining and funny, love your videos and this one was, still again, just brilliant!
Wish this was 30x longer. You rock CD 😎
You are one of my favourite artists. Yeah, artists period. From direction, writing and acting to the incredible visual effects, practical and digital, it's such a treat, and I wish you had all the funding needed to realize whatever visions stew on your backburner.
Always love seeing Alan speak/perform on these conventions and such
this video looks very realistic good job man!
I love to see your public presentations, would be so cool to see one in person one day 😄
Thank you for this. I don't watch shorts (not even for the Captain) so I appreciate the second-hand exposure to your efforts.
Dude I am always impressed with your ability to speak publicly. Like you not only do it, but you do it very well.
Great talk. Again. Gotta do more of these.😊
I absolutely love your content. I've been following you since probably 2010, and I even saw you at The Amazing Meeting 8. I've always thought you were underappreciated and it's so SO satisfying to see you with almost 2.5 million subscribers. You deserve it.
This kind of looks like that movie everyone loves
More Captain Disillusion ? So close to the last one!!??? Excited! As a 3D artist I can’t express how much respect I have for this man! Hands down my favorite RUclips. His content is worth the wait even though we want more.
Thanks for another awesome and hilarious video Captain! Here’s to making the positive comment bar higher next analysis!
That last line was great lol
I love your sense of humor and sarcasm!
I love how you bring to your talks the same enthusiasm of your videos!
Funny always having the last word Captain.
Humiliating others with a grand audience is a great top notch pun!
captain always on point, he did all the scene and the props to his channel and patreon in a funny way, that's why i like your stuff, keep it on!
Ah Captain, yet another wonderful creative addition to the world!
This is it, guys! Xavier Renegade Angel made it to the mainstream 1:59
Thank you for continuing to put out some form of content no matter how infrequent.
I was so happy when I saw that follow-up video. It's like a stand-up comedian improvising even better stuff when heckled.
When I watch videos that I suspect may prompt me to impulsively (or thoughtfully) critique the content, I press play . . . and then turn the power switch of my wireless keyboard off. This has safeguarded me from exposing soooo much of my inherent stupidity.
What a round about way to tell people to support you on patreon.
HAHAHAH don't we all love a good story of someone who corrects another person while being unaware of how wrong they are? There is such a joy in these.
Some of the best mental gymnastics on the internet!
Lmao, this kept me engaged for a solid moment, usually doesn't happen, great presentation
What a way to promote Patreon! Not only CD bought the props, made two shorts, but he also talked about all of it at the Blender Conference!
Absolute mad lad. Just, wow!
I’ve been seeing a lot of talks from the Blender conference pop up on RUclips, been thinking about you 😀
The Penn & Teller of the Blender world. Much love.
My king 💕 his other blender con presentation is unmatched
Well played well played. I always love your live talks. Inspiring.
Captain is so awesome and brilliant in his come backs! Love it!
No better feeling than finding a new captain disillusion video ❤
Thanks for the video Cap! You do great work.
Massive props for not breaking during the default cube bit. There's no way I could think of something that clever and keep composure after hearing the audience chuckle.
I've been a low-key fan of Mr. Captain Disillusion for some years now. Low-key in that I don't go out of my way to find anything new or interesting, but I do watch and enjoy every new video that pops up - even the shorts. I was a bit disappointed with the short not due to the content, but only because I've imposed my own distaste for that type of media. HOWEVER, I am still a low-key fan of Mr. Captain Disillusion so I watched it and enjoyed it immensely. I was very entertained at the follow-up short too, because it was something so entirely in character for Mr. Captain Disillusion to follow-up on(with?).
Imagine my surprise seeing this video pop up, and I loaded it with extreme interest to see what was going to go on at this conference talk. I had yet to see anything outside of the videos on youtube, so seeing a presentation like this was exciting! 'Lo and behold, no disappointment.
I love these videos and I love your content Mr. Captain Disillusion. You turned even your BlenderTalk into something interesting, entertaining, well-written and performed! I can't tell if the nervousness you had speaking in front of the crowd was genuine or performance but either way it was very relatable and I enjoyed this video immensely.
I guess long story short, you are awesome Mr. Captain Disillusion and you will be the first patreon I have ever subscribed to. I think it will even give me a level up, and I shall ascend to the rank of mid-key fan!
Please keep up your amazing work! 😀
Love the humor! My favorite channel on youtube
The best Patrion ad I've ever seen.
Damn i missed that one. Great seeing you there anyways!
Delicious delivery done deftly, definitely delightful.
Suckered into a Patreon ad read but it was so well-done that I don't even mind. Great job, Alan!
Always taking the moral high ground. Like a Little Napoleon he charges at it. That's what I have always admired about Cpt D
Great talk!
(I wanted to add to the green bar for this video :))
That crowd was well edited. Looked very real.
probably the best patreon ad I've seen
Captain and Alan, you are wonderful. I love everything you do, it is full of much delightful charm. Not even mentioning the incredible quality of your work and your technical skill.
Great talk! But I think the parallax displacement on the material used on the pores for Alan's face is a little too high.
Dang! Managed to touch on all points and even plug Patreon! Well done!
That was hilarious. You're always making great videos and speeches. And the trolling is just the icing on the cake. I really want to see more haha!
I love the fact that he performed an analysis of the comments.
Where tf you been? We need you more than ever
I enjoyed it and want to see more
Love this!
the best blender conferences are the ones that look like stand up comedy
Ha, that final line of the presentation. Well done.
You are amazing!!
so much fun captain. love it :D
Captain you friggin legend, never change :D
This was so fun, I remember watching your last blender conference presentation, good memories.
