What is funny, I thought this is so hard song to get right live, but they did it beautifully! Down to perfect harmonics. Such a haunting, melancholy song that pulls you right in.
Absolutely the best indie band in the business then, and now. So intense, but without any of that b.s. indie self-consciousness. Shearwater, they rule.
Nicely done!! I was searching for a music video from 1995. This was snagged by the RUclips algorithm and I thought I’d have it play while I scroll to find the video. It wasn’t too long before I brought the video up, and just listen… and watch… and listen more. Sweet mix. Nicely done everyone.
I can't explain why I like this song... But I do. Maybe the soft-spoken voice, maybe the simple but perfect guitar arrangements. Or maybe the conjunction of all.
Really incredible music. I listen for a day more than 15 times. Really likes vocals i really enjoy when singer make such vocals ....an drumms ohhhhh . Thanks Spotify recomendations.!!!!
The 'down the wind' part of the phrase comes from the sport of falconry. When hawks are released to hunt they are sent upwind and when turned loose for recreation they are sent downwind. Thus, to 'whistle someone/thing down the wind' is to cast it off to its own fate. Shakespeare alluded to this in Othello, 1604: If I do prove her haggard, Though that her jesses [leather straps] were my dear heartstrings, I'ld whistle her off and let her down the wind, To pray at fortune. The first appearance of the phrase as we now know it that I can find in print comes from Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine, 1826: Surely someone who can whistle down the wind this painful weakness of his nature ... is an anomaly, not a man.
He's utterly mesmerising on this... such a fantastic groove, so crisply & cleanly played, amazing feel, and he looks almost more into it than any drummer I've seen! Meiburg picks amazing musicians to play with him.
the greatest emotional performance by a drummer that ive ever seen, that dude rocks
I don’t even know how I found Shearwater but I love this album more than anything I heard in the past decade.
I just discovered them from a song in a movie called Pure white bitch. I'll be listening to a lot more
How can this sound so clumsy and genius all at once?... This is one of the most puzzlingly beautiful piece of live music I've ever heard. 💜

When it's time for me to shuffle off this mortal coil I wish for this song to be playing within earshot as I leave.
Beautiful comment, thanks.

Genius 🦋
Tremenda pieza! Transporta! Genios todos
Undulating, powerful assemblage.
Esta pieza es brutal!!...
Is the drummer playing that triplet hit snare or is that on the drum machine?
99% certain that's all played live. I'm obsessed with the drumming on this tbh!
How is everyone in this band so pretty
Nice.
PE DRA DA!
Wow...
Reminds me of Beck Morning Phase
Does anybody know who that drummer is?
That's Josh Halpern. :)
