Thanks for re-posting this! Y'all did such an incredible cover - I came back to youtube all the time to listen to it and was very disappointed when it suddenly wasn't there. Do you know why it was taken down? Is it a copyright issue with keeping covers posted after a certain length of time, or is it a byproduct of AV Club being bought out?
Thanks for listening! Not sure why they took down all of their past seasons of Undercover - it seemed to coincide with their website's redesign...
As soon as I heard the news on Monday, I went looking for this video, and saw, happily, that you guys had reposted, but I still wondered where all the rest of Undercover went. I ultimately found out they moved all of the old stuff to watchable:

Your cover is here:

Great cover, by the way, and a fitting tribute.
Interesting! Thanks for the info, Derek!
Question: Did both of the singers rehearse those facial expressions when singing to mimic that dynamic of conflict or was that improvised?
Look how young we all used to be.
This is the best cover of this song I've ever heard. It actually surpasses the original in my opinion. Sharon nails the vocal performance so hard.
They more than found the heart of it
ruclips.net/video/3d-IEGNk6wg/видео.htmlsi=t_NXTj1jfpSrgF8a this is my favorite version though.😊
HOW has it been 8 years since I first saw this? I still think of it often!
Takes some balls to up against the legend of Stevie, and they totally kill it. Love this groove.
Welp, balls and ovaries, apparently.
Daaaanm! That Killer Rasp in her Voice is Insane! I don't think any one can sing this song like she did in this setting.:) I just found this and I can't stop playing it.
Shearwater is awesome, but SVE is a treasure to all humans! Great cover.
This cover was amazing. I don't wanna give you all big heads or anything, but I like this version better than the Nicks/Petty version. There was a lot of energy in that tiny little room
I too prefer it over the original.
This is excellent. These kinds of rock songs are usually played with so much swagger that the vulnerability and the anger is missing - not the case here! Really exciting!
🔥❤️🤘😮😍🎸🔥 Effing brilliant! Sharon van Etten has GOT to be the most beautifully poetically inspiring Darling on the scene, she really needs more acclaim. Like so many of her covers, she gives them a darkness and a radiance that just makes you stop in your tracks!! I'll never forget when l first listened to her cover of The Flaming Lips' 'Do You Realize?' I was in tears. I just went through a terrible unexpected loss, l lost my lovely little angel companion, a 12 year old doggie my Mom had whom l was taking care of after l had to put Mom into a dementia care facility. She missed her Mommy so much but then she bonded to me, turned out she had an undetected asymptomatic inoperable cancerous mass in her liver until it suddenly ruptured (damn l can't even even write it about it l tear up too much) and. Oh she gave Mom so many years of joy, she held out so long... THAT SONG, her rendition, just carried me through my bereavement like no other.
Then, there's the boundless treasure of her own work!! ❤️❤️❤️ Jupiter 5, l can't say enough about it. So beautifully pure, sensually honest. I feel like she manifests all the pain and struggles she's endured in her young life and she hits on a resonant level that breaks your heart open. There's a vulnerability and also a gutter punk edge! Thank you Sharon and l hope you reunite with your back up band soon!! Keep on rockin' in the Free World, kiddo! ❤️🫂
Sharon is my all-time favorite artist
The bass player is absolutely killing it! Very tight cover. Love it.
I think that everyone IS - the entire band is locked in. THIS gives the vocalists the power to interpret over the music. And why this version WORKS so well. They nailed it!!!
This is when I fell in love with Sharon accidentally ♥️♥️♥️
Super dope. Not enough people have heard this. sharing.
Love this kind of natural, authentic talent. Hope the record execs leave her alone. She’s still so refreshing.
god damn this is good
Whenever I hear this song, I think of this badass cover of it and have to find it again.
So damn good.
Great cover but can we talk about the camerawork? Top notch especially at 4:29 👌👌
Those angular, twangy guitars, too.
EVERYTHING works.
I watch this biweekly
Me too- I found it over two years ago and I just can’t get away from it!
The eye contact get me omg
SVE is hypnotically beautiful...did I just write that?
Absolutely owned this song!
they totally killed it....great version
So good
You two are awesome in this. Sharon was so captivating…
This is honestly better than the original!
It’s confirmed, Sharon is my soul sister. 💜
Fantastic version and now a beautiful tribute 😔🎩
Love Sharon
Wow. What a brilliant cover. ❤❤
Well Holly OMG and S__t! A brilliant cover!
Really an excellent cover! Bravo!
Hot Damnnn !! So glad I found this ! Can't stop sliding that red line back to the beginning and watching over and over !! Great Job !! Love it !! ...Great Talent !! TX !!
A good cover of a Tom Petty song. Thanks for sharing
Love this this!
The first few seasons of AV Undercover had some truly amazing stuff. It's a real shame that the AV Club hasn't kept all of those videos up. I was looking for Thao and the Get Down Stay Down's performance of Need You Tonight just the other day and can't find it anywhere.
Dang, Sharon looks fierce in this one! Talk about bringing the "real" to a performance. Those other guys in the room kept up ok.
I mean, y'all are great in this, but come on... she's something else. Drifted back to this after the release of the new tune by her and Angel Olsen, which is ridiculously amazing.
And the name of my favorite modern prog rock band hanging between them.
Damn this is really good. She really nailed Nicks.
what.a.song😍
💜 The perfect van Etten shear water!
I feel like I just had Christmas morning. I couldn't have asked for a better song for her to sing, one of my all time favorite duets, and not as easy to sing as it sounds. Good job guys! And that's in a vocal booth-size room, lol I would love to hear a pro recording of this (guitar player: you're a little early with the signature lick)
This is great. Great harmonizing.
Just found it today - fine cover! :)
Powerful and beautiful 😊❤️👍🎶🎶🎶
Just so good!
incredible
this is an incredible cover
Brilliant
Bravo!
So nicely done.
I saw her play at Ohana Fest. She's got a set of pipes!
Bravissimi!!!
Great cover, i liked it the first time i hear it. Thanks for the reupload !
Scorching!
Hot damn! I mean, there's no way the two lead singers didn't go find some place to make out after this...
This is awesome, I was worried at first because Stevie nicks is not an easy voice to cover neither is Tom petty but they nailed it, almost as good as the original!!
damn it was 5 years ago ?
ODIO que pongan una mini entrevista antes... pone el temaaaaa!!!
Be the new Low
Their harmonizing is what the Samantha Fish/Duane Allman cover needed at the end.
The petty nicks version always seemed a bit off key, but it worked. This is great.
2012!? Omg in gonna die soon
is it wrong I'm watching this video naked?
aren't we all?
@husker1747 I've had 5 additional months, and the best I've got is "If so, I don't want to be right"
Can relate. 😅
This band has a really really good rythm section
She is HOT
Stop draggin my checked shirts around amirite
Post Punk Version???🤔🤔🤔
That's the Song And what the hell that Bimbo Miley did with it?
s it wrong that I'm watching this video naked
You ARE dragging your own heart around because it means more to be a secret,,super secret hacker with out vocal chords,,,keep hiding behind your computer or phone
diluted it into nothing
Eh. Not very dynamic but not horrible.
Good but off Sharon should have more tuff guys got nothing and I can tell is arrogant
What does this sentence mean?
@@neilhillis9858 I think it means he thinks Jonathan Meiburg is too soft for this cover. Which: he doesn't have that weary, swamp-ratty, bluesy, Florida man vibe Petty could pull off so well. It's definitely different from the original but it's not awful or anything.
A poor effort. Sad.
lmfao you're just a snob. they're obviously feeling the music
The male vocalist isn't as strong as Sharon, I agree that it's weird.
Shearwater isnt DAVID BOWIE. THEY ARE COPYCATS.......
And how many covers has Bowie sung? Many...
