  • Hi!! I hope you're doing well!
I'm so excited to finally share with you how I do laundry for my large family of 8!
This has been something that I've been looking forward to sharing, as it has been a complete life saver for me. I've been a stay at home mom, a work outside of the home mom, and a work from home mom, and I've always used this system because it has been the smoothest and most stress free system!
    ✨My SYSTEM:✨
First, I start by having my children gather up ALL of the laundry from everywhere in the house, and I mean ALL THE LAUNDRY! (I'm a little OCD that way😅)
Then, I sit down with the girls and sort and treat all of their laundry. I do the same thing with the boys after that.
    ------
Once all of the laundry is sorted (into whites, lights, colors, darks, and towels/washrags) and treated (takes 30-45 mins total), the bulk of the job is finished!
Now all I have to do is rotate batches throughout the day (with the kids' help of course!). I start with the lightest color and weight batches first because they finish quickest, and it makes so that I can go through all of the batches in one day.
    ----
When all of the batches are washed and dried, we dump them out into one, big, ginormous pile! (This is my kids' favorite part!) and we all sit together and fold ALL of the clothes.
Ava is the sorter; Me, Jazlynn, Atticus, and Nova-Laine are the folders. This gets the job done quick because the folders don't have to figure out which pile to put the clothes into. We just fold and go!
After the clothes are folded (Takes about 20-30 mins) everyone takes care of their own piles, except for the babies, Roman and Hudson. Ava and Jazlynn take turns putting the babies' clothes away. (Taking care of the clothes takes 10 mins)
During this whole process, I am sure to include my children, so that I can teach and train them how to do laundry and how to take good care of their clothes. I'm not just 'Doing Laundry', I am RAISING CHILDREN. That's why it matters to me to include them! 😁
In total, I spend less than 2 hours dedicated to laundry for an ENTIRE WEEK, since we do one laundry day per week. Then I don't even have to THINK about laundry until the next week! That's why this system has been my go-to, favorite one!
If you try it out, let me know how it goes!

How do you have your kids' clothes organized in their drawers? How big are there drawers? And how many sets of clothes do you have for each kid? Can you maybe do a video on that too? Thanks for posting such great content!

As far as organizing, I organize it for them when they are young, but I turn it over to them when they are big enough to take care of them by themselves. 😊
I don't really have a set number of outfits for each child, because I wash once a week. So regardless of how many outfits they have, I'll only be washing seven every week. But I'm also careful not to buy too many that it feels overwhelming for them to manage the outfits themselves.

@@livjowen I just got shout and tried it along with the whole laundry system yesterday and wow what a difference. It saved me so much time, I used to do a few loads throughout the week, what a headache. The shout also got everything out! Even old stains that dawn and the sun couldn’t get out. Thank you, thank you!

Have the kids ever put the clean laundry in the dirty clothes basket instead of putting them away. My foster boys use to do that. After I washed them. They didn’t want to hang them up.

I have not had my children do that, but I think it's because I train them how to take care of them when they are very young. So they get familiar with what the process looks like before I turn it over to them 😊

So the girls get double lots to do you just get one…your own? Why don’t you do the babies? They haven’t chosen to have babies to care for when they are kids themselves? It’s okay to do their own but why do they do the babies not you?
