I watched eva for the first time about 2 years ago now. Immediately after finishing it I knew I wanted/needed to rewatch it, just not yet... I’m still feeling those mental scabs it left me with the first time round
I'm not even watching those movies. Just one round of the original and movie is enough for 2-3 years. Take it slowly.
I just finished it last week, it hasn't left my thoughts since.

@@fartzinwind Eva Thrice Upon a Time is genuinely a beautifully made movie. The rebuilds are worth it, the final movie was a very satisfying conclusion.

@@tomemeornottomeme1864 I"m giving them a try now. I'll say this. There are improvements, but it feels rushed. If I had no past experience with these characters I think that I wouldn't care about them as much. this applies especially to the B and side characters. I feel like there was never a perfect Evangelion. I'd suggest some kind of super edit of the latest ones into the older longer format, but that wouldn't work either. Too many characters have different voice actors, much of the background design was totally redone.

@@io-rj6sk yeah it is good, but yeah the other 3 are peasants in comparison to this new one, it’s legit in my top 3 films I’ve ever seen at the very least

@@io-rj6sk If you have heard of the theory that the universe in Evangelion is on a loop, then this is sort of like that. As the movie builds to the climax, it's sort of a return to the old, psychedelic and psychological storytelling of the original. The last half hour is genuinely insane, and I walked away genuinely liking every single character. Even Gendo got quite a bit of development. You should absolutely watch it.

This franchise has always been something special to me, the horrifyingly beautiful and detailed animation of the original series, the music, and alas the movie series. It's just strange to think about it- and it all ends here. Hope the finale is a good one, folks. Bye bye.

I really hope that anyone who was there for Evangelion in the 90s returns for Rebuild, even if they've fallen off the anime train. It should give them some closure.
