    Steamed Pumpkin Rice
    Ingredients / 材料
    Rice 2 cups / 杯 白米
    Pumpkin 400g / 克 南瓜
    Dry shrimps 50g / 克 虾米
    Chinese sausage 1½ pcs / 条 腊肠
    Shallots 10 pcs / 粒 小葱头
    Garlic 3 pips / 瓣 蒜头
    Mushrooms 10 pcs / 朵 香菇
    Salt 1 tsp / 茶匙 盐
    Sugar 1 tsp / 茶匙 糖
    Pepper powder 1 tsp / 茶匙 胡椒粉
    5 spices powder ½ tsp / 茶匙 五香粉
    Light soy sauce 2 tsp / 茶匙 生抽
    Dark soy sauce 1 tsp / 茶匙 老抽
    Adequate water / 适量的水

    Hi, how long do we need to fry the rice before steaming please? and the total steam time is 1 hour, correct?

      Hi, after add in the rice and those seasoning ingredients, just fry until all evenly combined. May take about 10 to 15 minutes depend on individual.
      Yes, steaming tale about 1 hour.

    How much water do we need to put in the rice?

      I added 2⅓ cups of water.
      However, different rice different water absorption levels. Follow your own standard, put the same amount of water as you cooking the rice.

      Additional tips to you, if you feel that the rice is too hard after the end of steaming, you still can sprink some water to the rice and continue steam for a couple minutes.

    Why are pour away the rice water? You can used it for cleaning.

      rice water contains starch washed from the rice, using it to clean is like using dirty water to clean
