I have a Hornady sonic cleaner. What you can do is get a jar. Put it in the water that is in your your sonic cleaner. The jar can be filled with paint remover, CLR, vinegar and basically anything. The water with make the jar's liquid transfer to the objects in the jar and work. Easier cleaning and less waste. I've done it with guns parts and it works wonders! This 9mm I had wouldn't reset the slide/upper all the way. Afterwards it ran flawless with the dirt removed.
He mentions this at @12:04
There you go again! You always seem to find new things for me to try to make room for in my hobby room. Next thing you know my hobby room will be the size of my whole house. Thank you for the great ideas and all the hard work you do
I already have an ultrasonic cleaner. And now I've found another use for it. Thank you!!
Really appreciate every detail you put into these - the comments and demo about the more expensive solvents in a jar is pure genius!
About the spoons - if you have to clean them for paint to stick to them, then just what the heck are we EATING!!?!??
Love the Spoons
Great video, thanks.
Got to love that intro with the spoons
Great review, I love these little sonic cleaners and when you get one you will constantly be looking for things to stick in it and clean. Thank you for sharing hope the family is doing great. Everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy and remember to SMILE 😊God Bless 🙏
I use one similar to the smaller version and really like it. 👍
Nice you were able to fix the audio. Great work
I have the original one you featured a year or so ago. I somehow popped the heating element, but I just add boiling water to my mix and can get through my airbrush cleaning. I never thought about using it for model parts. It's going to get more use now. Just won't use boiling water, but water water for the model parts. Learning a lot watching you Robert! Keep up the great work. 👍
that Little one is pretty good. might end up getting that mini one
I've had an ultrasonic cleaner for years that I use for carburetor parts cleaning as well as my airbrush cleaning, but it never occurred to me to use it to clean model parts. Neat tip!
Well, I commented on yesterday‘s video but you had to take it down. So here I am to comment again. What are things I appreciate about your reviews is that you want to make sure if you review something we can actually get them and that is something that not everyone takes into consideration so again thank you. Be well be you
I have pre ordered the full paint line of all 10 just waiting for Splash to let me know it's on the way an thank you for the little informative video 👍🏻👍
Hi Robert hope you're all as well as you can be , this is why I love your channel finding new stuff and that's available for all , I can get a lot of the products you review here in the UK and also get some from Europe ❤
Hello from the US my friend. Thanks for your support
Any time buddy , looking forward to seeing your acrylics and getting a few if you're able to do fair price on international shipping
I 100% agree with buying an ultrasonic cleaner! I use it for so many things even stuff not for painting!
Great idea with the Sonic cleaning! I bought the swallow tail and I love it! 😎👍
Thanks for your support
Thank you for the awesome review. I ended up buying both, I got the 3L for work/airbrush. Then I got the 10 dollar one because it's ten bucks and it would be awesome for jewelry and glasses.
When I saw the part on using the cleaner for a razor head, I was especially sold. Bought them both.
Hey Rex, I watched your video on the magnetic stirrer and bought it. It is awesome, thanks. I am from Rhode Island also. Maybe I will run into at the hobby shop. Have a great week.
I'm from RI as well... small world...
Use USC with a bit of caution. The machine can (and will) damage items finish. As I use mine to clean my airbrushes, i wound up coating my basket in rubber dip. I have a larger one, as I use it to clean firearms, as well. Airbrushes, firearms, jewelry (my glasses) I use it to strip paint off of my miniatures when I goof up, or want to change the paint job.
Yes, the classic Matrix intro; "There is no Spoons"! 😊
Very nice video. Personally I never about an ultrasonic clean. Clean my kits with alcohol and airbrushs with water and acetone, got that from one your earlier videos. But my wife collects jewelry (antique costume jewelry). And the little would make a nice mother's day gift. Scoring some points here.
Anyway Robert very nice video.
I use LAs Totally Awesome as the cleaner. I also use spring close tea ball infusers for small parts.
I use the jar trick.
I've just started 3d printing so I'm in the market for an ultrasonic cleaner 👍😎
I use mine all the time
That spoon intro was classic!
Thanks 👍
The Spoon Man!
Use mine mainly for stripping paint from miniatures.
Use either IPA or LA's Totally Awesome.
I tried to click on a notification of this video yesterday and it was taken down! So I'm not waiting this time. 1 minute ago is fine!
👍👍👍👍👍
Your videos are dangerous! Just bought the small cleaner and baskets. Last week, bought the vortex mixer and it’s great, too. Thanks, I think😂
Old watch repair guys will also use the smaller jar trick with naphtha in it, etc. when there’s any risk of causing steel watch parts to rust from using water.
❤ thanks for the video - great help. What temperature do you put the parts in the dehydrator and for how long. Regards Bruce
About 115 to 120 degrees. Around 30 minutes
I wash my resin parts in Gaianotes Resin Wash using my ultrasonic cleaner.
just wondering if you can fit a standard MG in the cleaner and use it to get dust off? Would it damage the paint on painted kits?
You use it to strip paint? The small model I mean
How do you deal with the gunpla pieces floating, or does that not matter?
I have an ultrasonic cleaner that I have used for 46 years. As a draftsman, in the old days we used them for cleaning our technical drawing pens that went down to 6/0, ultra fine points. Mine is still running strong and I mainly use it for cleaning my fountain pens (another expensive addicting hobby). Any ways if any of you guys are looking to get this purchase cleared by the wife, ultrasonic cleaners do great on jewelry and you can tell her you will clean her rings, earrings bracelets whenever she wants 😂 and now I can’t believe I will be cleaning spoons with it 🤪 what will my dog think of me now 🤭
I used to be a drafter as well, using pens as low as 000, and we also had an ultrasonic cleaner.
Any advice on how to use it to clean paintbrushes? Seems like it would be perfect to deep clean some sable brushes, but (aside from a single video) all I could find was for big brushes like for house painting.
Perfectly timed video, I’ve been meaning to give my cleaner a try and overcomplicate things
It will clean brushed no problem at all. You can submerge them for cleaning. What type of paint will be on the brushes?
@@barbatosrex9473 Mostly just use acrylics, but I didn’t know what I was doing when I started and have a few that got paint loaded up in the ferrule. I was thinking this might be a good option that would be gentler on the brushes overall. Thanks so much for the advice/confirmation. Yet again you’ve been incredibly helpful overall and (more specifically) getting over the anxiety hurdle with trying something new!
It vibrates. Can you use it to mix paints?
For people in the EU check out Vevor.
Hey, Rex would have loved to see a aluminium foil test on the little guy. Don't doubt the big one, the sound issue was kind of proof that it actually is what it says. The small ones however seldom seems to do much of anything
I got the little one overnighted to my house. To answer your question, the small one does break down the aluminum foil a little bit, but only on the edges and it breaks down *very* slowly. Granted, my aluminum foil is like twice the thickness of the dollar store stuff, but I think I'm gonna return it.
You also don't want to put anything flammable in them because the ultrasonic oscillation causes cavitation which can cause it to flashover.
Do you think little one hold a 1:24 or1:25 scale car body
So that's why I can't find spoons at the Walmarts around here!!! HA!
Am I right in thinking that the handles on the basket would be able to latch over the sides of the tank to elevate it when you're transferring parts in and out? They seem to be shaped particularly well for that.
Yes the handles do latch onto the sides
"Let's get a tape measure, here, and see how big this thing is... ten inches?... This ended up being the right unit for me."
That's what she said?
Could soapy water remove rustolium and krylon matte topcoat with a ultrasonic cleanser?
I don't think so, you'll need alcohol or maybe Simple Green
a fellow youtuber does not recommend cleaning airbrushes in this .. 2 nd time he cleaned his micron . it had a crack on its body form where air was leaking .
Did you ever experienced that ?
What temp do recommend cleaning at?
Around 120 is good for model pieces and spoons. 130 to 150 is good for steel parts
Ugh I deal with these every day at work, well commercial ones for medical. When we test our tanks its the loudest most annoying white noise ever. Have thought about asking them to make me a custom small one, but I can use our test machines anytime I want.
A warning for anyone using one of these. If any of the model pieces has that chrome plating on it. It may strip off. A few weeks ago I cleaned up my unpainted PG Strike Rouge and bits and pieces of the struts stripped of, and the massive sword is almost completely stripped off. All I used was some dish washing fluid and a tiny dash of degreaser. So be carefull! Other than that problem they work awesomely.
The degreaser is probably your problem.. I use degreaser to strip paint off parts..
@@garethmurphy8235 Its possible. it was a small splash in a 10L version of whats in this vid so it was heavily diluted.
No wonder I can never find any spoons…..lol
No wonder the spoons are always out of stock. 😂
You will not find any plastic spoon to buy in sweden. Forbidden to sell…😅
Well at least you have music there, Sweden is home to about half of the metal bands I listen to
