Dragon Quest III HD 2D is coming to everything and anything except the PS4. Some people are scratching their heads onto the reason why. Thankfully I might have the answers to that question.

I had no idea PS5 versions of games were actually starting to outsell their PS4 counterparts. That’s interesting af. I still honestly don’t have a reason to buy a PS5, but it’s neat to see that people ARE finally buying them.
Steam/Windows PC has the biggest and most longevity of all the platforms. The only way to guarantee that this game is accessible to new players in 5 years is making it for Steam/Windows PC. Dragon Quest's inability to get new players is related to how balkanized the back catalogue is. You either force potential fans into third-tier mobile ports or they have to track down collector's items (DS, 3DS cartridges) or they have to emulate. Developers can't quickly remake games anymore - not like they could in the 90's or 2010's. These remakes need to be able to have staying power and longevity. You don't do that by making it dependent on a toy console platform.
They're not bringing it to PS4, just because of that? 😧 Considering it's also coming to Nintendo Switch? 😧
That is a stupid idea!! 😡 Because that sounds unfair! Even though I just got my PS5 Slim, it's just unfair to PS4 only owners.

I already planned on getting a PS5 later this year so I'm good with this change.
at this rate just wait for "PS5 Pro" version in 2025.
Cannot wait to pick this up for Switch. When do you think the release date will be? Before end of summer or later in the year? I guess we'll find out at the Direct this month. Do you think we'll get other games in the series for Switch/Switch 2? I'd like to play DQX. Almost bought a Switch copy in Japan, but heard there isn't an English dub on that version.
If I had to guess most likely either september or november of this year hard to say, but like you said we'll find out at the direct.

It'll cent percent come on the ps4 at a later time, look at the trademarks section on the official webpage of this game.. they'll release it together along with dq1&2 remake
last gen apart for persona 5, cross gen was like 2 years for jrpgs even though most of them could run on ps3.(not graphically demanding titles). I imagine is there is a ps6, I would not need to get one for like 5 years because cross gen will be even longer on PS6. A win for my wallet.
I really do need Horii’s or the dev’s confirmation is on what platform this game is being developed. If it’s PS5 then my excitement would blast through outer space if that were true cuz it means this remake trilogy is going to have substantial amount of new and returning content from the previous iterations(SFC&GBC).

@@ThatsRoyo i think they’re also another reason why they forgo the PS4 and XB1 cuz of the PS5 and Series’ SSDs. If you want to sped up your development so that you can port it over to steam then you need a PS5 and Series to do that. Plus almost no loading screens is another reason why.
@@shawnsindulfoabellana3912I don't know for sure, but it probably started development on Switch since its the weakest/ lowest common denominator hardware. Then it got ported to everything else, if Switch can run it every other platform can as well.
I feel like Bowser's Inside Story was less about people having moved over to the Switch and more the game looking kinda ugly compared to the original AND the original being backwards compatible with the 3DS along with used copies not being too expensive. Echoes and US/UM though, I have zero idea what happened. I blame the extortion prices for Echoes DLC and US/UM maybe not being that different from S/M?
you nailed it as when I still Supported the 3DS after Sony gave up on the Vita, USUM you can tell they gave up on it right near the end and how fast it just felt near the end of the game.
Install base of ps4 is probably not the same as the active users of ps4, and at that most people playing on ps4 are probably just playing old games. I feel like most "gamers" either a) own a switch or b) have upgraded to ps5 or pc by now. It's not like the ps5 has been out for 3.5 years or anything.

Yes but I would have preferred to play it ONLY on a PS4 and NOT the Switch only and its only getting a PS5 version and NOT one on the PS4 which is weird since even in JAPAN theirs still more PS4 owners in Japan then PS5 ones.
@@veghesther3204 yea I get that, ps4 is more powerful than switch and would run these games better but developers and game companies have moved on from last gen now though, they still support the switch as it's the best selling console (of all time nearly) and its best seller in Japan, this is their way of getting people to move on and buy their latest console (Ps5, xbsx) since that's where they're spending their money and investing.
