    Today marks my 50th lb weightloss! I started ketogenic eating last Oct with 16/8 IF. from the beginning. This month 2/19 it has become clear that OMAD WITH I.F. is what I need, to keep losing. A stubborn 20 day long stall was keeping me stuck and I needed to ramp up the strategy. I am pleased to report that OMAD is not THAT difficult when you plan your meal out with low carbs, prioritizing good proteins and then including enough fat to keep you satiated. Adding olives and walnuts is very beneficial. Eating fatty meats, including the skin and connective tissues on chicken and turkey servings is crucial. Bone-in steaks is also a great choice. A little homemade bonebroth with a dab of butter is a great bedtime snack to help you coast through the night too. I'm really loving this KWOE! Thanks 2 fit docs!!...You keep me informed and motivated. ♡♡

    Intermittent fasting DOES work! I started doing 16/8 but went to 18/8, and also did one 20/4 this week and I was fine. Once you adapt, you're not even hungry. It's only been 10 days since I started and I lost 10 lbs, that's a pound a day. My goal is to lose 40 lbs by June but I could hit that number before then. I'm doing keto/intermittent fasting together and it's awesome!

      Andrée, Robby meant to say 18/6...18 hour fasting and 6 hour eating window!

    • @bzebee5979
      @bzebee5979 6 лет назад +4

      Robby B. That’s great. I have been doing IF for 2 months and went straight to 20/4 and now varies from 20/4, 22/1, 23/1, OMAD and a 24 hr fast once a week! It’s the best thing I have ever done as my sweet snacking etc. has totally disappeared and I have had this bad habit for years and tried many diets and this is the only way of eating that has got rid of it. I have also introduced IF to my sister who has also been doing this for a week.
      I am 52 years old and have body fat percentage of 27% but want to lose 28lb. Doing IF guarantees fat loss (inch loss) which I feel is more important than what the scales weigh.
      Continue on this journey you are going in the right direction.

    New to IF...love the results. 12 pounds in 9 days...no major hunger pains or cravings, very comfortable. Salted water has kept headaches away, and I usually drink green tea, coffee, or water when I feel hunger, it passes. Fasted for 20 hours then played racquetball for 2 and a half hours last night (still fasting) and played and felt great. That was surprising. I usually eat a medium sized carby meal prior to rb....No other diets I have tried have worked, from keto to weight watchers cabbage soup, but this one is great so far. If you see results, that is encouragement to stick with it. I am also reducing/limiting carbs but I still eat them if I want them, and oh yeah....as little sugar as possible. I know the beginning is the easiest and the weight loss will slow, but its certainly a good start. Thanks for the videos and subscribed!

    • @wildfnyguy7998
      @wildfnyguy7998 6 лет назад +1

      Just finished 36 hours of fasting, after racquetball last night, this morning was a little rough both sleep wise and hunger wise, even with coffee and a large glass of water...nothing drastic but it was the strongest pull towards food I have felt to date during the fasting period..I guess that might be expected due to how long the fast was....I was going to eat last night but since all I would have done after eating would have been to go to sleep, so I decided to extend the 24 hours even further...maybe that's why I couldn't sleep well, I'm not really sure. 10 am I had 2 scrambled eggs and a few slices of bacon, salsa and half an avocado and couldn't eat any more. That's rare haha.

    • @ssarge2
      @ssarge2 6 лет назад +1

      I was interested in your comments because it seems to me that the 'starvation' mode one's body seems to go into - also happens on keto. I also have been at a stall. I drink coffee with HWC in the morning, but rarely eat anything. I have had horrible leg and foot cramps while on keto - so may not be able to stay on it once I reach my GW (which hopefully wil be within the next month or so. 10 lbs to go on a 30+ pound weight loss journey.
      not sure if she's saying that even if you keep your calories low - you can still gain weight? If you burn more than you take in - how does that happen?

    Great video i like thhe use of bowl for visual effevts i watched this video 3 times to burn it into memory. Then it dawned on me that somewhere around the 2000 calorie level of glycogen depletion i begin to get extremely hungy. Im going omad from now until my 5 day jocker group fast. I must become fat adapted. I produce ketones no problem but mentally im not using them by stretching out my fasting times. Omad until i get good. Carbs especially the type i was used to were the worst kind. Beer chips, hot dogs and buns candy bars ect... Omad now until my ability to control my desire for carbs. Thank you becky i just really figured out what my body is doing. I cant wait for the 2000 glycogen marker to come up today, i skipped breakfast today.

    I worked with a nutritionist and a fitness trainer for 18 months. After I went to my doc who absolutely blew a gasket I stopped. They had me eating exactly what the doc said I should not. Mostly carbs so by the end of the 18 months I had insulin resistance and moved quickly into diabetes. I often think I would like to tell them how wrong they were but, meh, what for. Won't make me feel any better about it.

    Dr Becky Gillaspy thanks for the video and the great easy to understand explanation of intermittent fasting, I actually use the 16:8 (or sometimes even 18:8) model myself. However, I wonder if you would do a video regarding how intermittent fasting (or weight loss in general) is effected by lack sleep? I actually think this is overlooked and certainly lack of sleep makes it a lot harder for me to eat the right foods and keep up with intermittent fasting.

      AND if you're really insulin resistant you could eat the right amount of daily calories through average carb. meals, and actually starve your cells/body and simultaneously store fat - that's kind of scary and I think it's one of the main reasons why people get so fat and can't figure out why since they calorie-wise eat pretty reasonably!
