Hey animator and animatronic enthusiast here, been following Damon for a long time as he's a great guy. Wanted to give some info about the cels and animation. The head missing thing is correct, alot of cels and such use this to save money and time if a portion of the body doesn't move and the rest does. The lines and such on the side are to keep in the same place and keep the same proportions and to show off how many frames this movement will need and if its bouncy this it shows how many frames will do a big movement and what frames will do a smaller one, it helps to keep track and tell the animators and cel painters how it's supposed to look like. The lettering is defo scenes and the number afterwards is how many cels in that scene, so were looking at hundreds of cels for this. A commercial of this length, with this amount of frames, cel work and for it's length would of taken roughly over 6 months or longer then you'd have edit it and back then it was done on literal tape so Damon's rough estimates of when it was produced is a good guess too. I can see the cels are starting to yellow which isn't a good sign, cels are not made to last at all as they were usually thrown out after production ended so the fact Damon has these is incredible in itself. Hope this gets found soon!
Adding onto this as a fellow animator, and considering the framerates of the time, I would say there's about 900 cels MAXIMUM for a commercial of that full length at the time, if they for some crazy reason decided to make it at 30 fps (Frames per second, or using these terms cels per second). Films created by Disney at the time typically used 24 fps which would lead to about 720 frames (Cels) in total. If any of the other cels somehow survived, unless stored directly in a temperature controlled environment, will soon be lost to time, as presumably just over 43 years has past since its production. Considering the company itself, I can say that they were indeed thrown out, but take that with a grain of salt, as these managed to make it. Any VHS recordings of the commercial as well are probably lost unless the VHS tape was preserved with a basic amount of caution (I've seen how some people treat them, don't pull the tape out please), or the recording was transferred to a different storage device. I'm just going to say that chances are, the media's gone, but here's to hoping! If anyone has higher quality images of these cels or knows if they were posted anywhere, I can try and piece them together, and try to fill in the missing frames/cels. I might be able to figure out the rate as well to estimate the amount of cels were produced. Additionally, the time of the commercial's airing was around the time of Showbiz Pizza's establishment after Robert Brock had broken off from Chuck E. Cheese. With Showbiz's different-styled animatironics setting it apart from its rivals, they may have scrapped all other marketing campaigns and thrown out their old stuff to quickly set up to compete with Brock's venture. I'm not going to directly say any of this is true. I'm not old enough to have remembered any of this, this is just an inference based on my prior knowledge of the subject. The Rock-afire Explosion band was definitely much different than anything Chuck E. Cheese had though, so I wouldn't be surprised if the company had taken the offensive with their marketing campaigns, since Brock used to be a part of their team. Just as the above comment had stated, the cels are starting to yellow and that's not a good sign. We can only hope that if the rest of the cels are in circulation, we can find them and bring them together. I'm pretty sure we're all willing to help with the search however we can.
@@NoLongerActive280 oh 100% preservation was different back then, heck alot of companies back in the 70's and 80's used to wipe master tapes to save on space. honestly, it could be remade from what frames it has but it would take a bit. i'm not too hopeful that anymore cels exist cause time and the plastic they used starts to rot over time kinda like old movie reels.
@@Discontinued_account Yeah, not going to doubt that, but since there’s a good few cels there I still want to try putting them back together. There’s next to no chance that anymore survived, so I’m not getting my hopes up, but the commercial itself has to be somewhere, so it could help with the search. I’m going to do what I can here, since it’d be a fun project.
@@NoLongerActive280 Sounds like it could be fun, I do think the Advert will be found one day hopefully soon. but i have no hope there's more cels. Sadly we may never know if Chuck's og voice actor remembered working on this as he passed away a few years ago but it's likely he did voice acting for it
@@Discontinued_accountYeah… We may never get a sure enough lead since it was such a long time ago… Sure hope something will come up soon though, I’d love to see the original. All that old (ish) stuff has a special place in my heart, so that would be amazing to finally see it. I’ll see what I can find for images of these cels, and see what I can do. Maybe it’ll help someone remember. If I get it done I’ll post it. I just hope the commercial isn’t truly lost to time like some of other lost medias are. I bet someone out there has it. Somewhere.
We enjoyed drawing Chuck E. Cheese from 1991 all the way up to 2003 during Dick Frank’s tenure. He was always loyal to us. During that time it was leaked to us that we increased sales volume of the Denis Foland merchandise by 35% with our design changes. Charlie Rose (and Dan Peeler) we also have cels from opening video animation from 1991-92. It certainly is fun to be a part of pop-culture history.
How many times did it come out just once or a couple of times. Do you know anyone that recorded stuff like these if they did they might have this and a few others

The crazy thing is I had recorded this commercial on Saturday morning. Watching the power rangers what is a child. This just makes me want to find that video tape now. Although after my mom passed away in 2017. I haven't seen a video tapes since I may have to go back to the old family house to see if they're still there. But the thing is I seen this commercial in like 96 or 97 I was 6 years old.
Hey morbidforfun. There’s this picture of an abandoned looking Mitzi Mozzarella from the rocket fire explosion band. You might mention her in the video that’s coming out in October but despite her condition she is in she isn’t abandoned at all. She is stored in the creative engineering wear-house. Aaron Fechter was going to restore her.
For all we know some of the cells could be at a landfill or a dump the recordings of the vhs tape as smitty said someone could have recorded there Saturday cartoons and the commercial appear and that vhs tape could be somewhere in someone’s house anything is possible
