It's amazing how people can be so stupid that they think that the cup Jesus used at the Last Super was an ornate, golden cup encrusted with Ivory and pearls, and expensive gems. It was actually a regular ol' ordinary cup. Jesus did not come to flaunt His divinity. He came as a servant of the Father and to serve humanity by His sacrifice.

Actually, the Holy Grail is the Chalice of Dona Urraca in Leon.

I think it was the popularity of the Arthurian story that helped populise it too. In the medieval period there was a desire for objects connected to Jesus true, the Veil of Veronica, in the 4th century so still classical period St Helena also went to Jerusalem, the spot where Jesus was believed to have been executed had a church built there, the trip was also looking for other things connected to him, the marble staircase in Pilot's palace, the true cross, so from early on there's been a desire to seek out any object connected with the life of Jesus.

The cup itself was of clay, wood, and maybe alabaster. The golden and bejeweled base was added adornment. A clay, wooden, or even alabaster cup was a common, everyday item used by everyone. This cup may not be The Grail, but someone, at sometime, believed that it was, so they added gold and precious gems to adorn the chalice to "make it worthy" for The Christ.

Clay and wood were forbidden for paschal cups. Only metals or stone (silver, agathe , ónyx)
Actually , the Holy Grail is the Chalice of Dona Urraca in Leon. A humble roman onyx cup that was embellished with gold and jewells by Princess Urraca about year 1.080.
The Chalice of Valencia is the Cup of Saint Peter . If you notice, the priest can put his lips just on the agathe of the bowl.
This point doesn´t happen in the Chalice of Princess Urraca. The ancient onyx bowl is protected by a golden armour. So the priest cannot put his lips in the same place where Christ did.
And if you see the protection : the Chalice of Valencia is easily reached with a simple key.

How sad, I was really banking on having my heart returned to my chest if it was ever removed by a voodoo priest. But thanks for clearing that up for me.

And I don't know how many carpenters had dining ware honed from substances that are typically made into jewelry like onyx. In all reality, the holy grail most likely isn't a cup at all... if it was then where is the holy plate... and the holy fork? The funniest thing is that according to the most reliable source about Jesus, the Bible, Jesus would not have used the cup at the Last Supper.
Apparently, Jesus gave a congratulatory message with a glass of bitter wine containing the ashes of burned hyssop, which was used in the Jewish Passover meal at the time.
But what is even clearer than that is that when he handed out the cup to his disciples, he declared that he would not drink wine from the vine until the coming of heaven.
So, although the wine glass in the documentary may have at least been touched by his hand, there is no other point of contact with it.
Of course, the cup would be the only object touched by Jesus and his twelve disciples, and it is also an object guaranteed by the Bible.
But what we must not forget is that among the twelve disciples was Judas Iscariot! The sacredness is broken right there.
There is nothing sacred among the world's relics.

There is a very minute change Jesus touched this cup. The problem is that the cup was just a cup in the time of Jesus itself. In those time all objects Jesus touched where not seen as special. Jews did not recognized Jesus as there disciple, Christianity did not jet exist. There was no reason to treat the cup Jesus uses any different as any other (luxury) cup.
The cup became the "holly grail" centuries later, when the church started to worship relicts and started to "show off" its wealth. If there where objects that could be tied to Jesus, they probably did not survive the Roman-Jewish war of 70 ad. Even if objects do remain it is never possible to prove Jesus used or touched it. At best it can be proven it is from the right region and the right era.

That is why is difficut to believe that the Cup of Valencia is the Cup of Christ. A priest can put his lips on the cup. No priest would dare to do this . Putting his lips just on the place where Jesus did.
But you are forgetting a very important question : The cup used by Christ the Last Supper , was used for the first eucharist, It was the cup of the first transformation wine-blood. So this cup had a special meaning for the disciple.
It´s known that Jesus had the Last Super into a rich house. He would use the paschal cup of the house, probably an onyx or agathe one.
Instead , the Chalice of Dona Urraca is a humble old roman onyx bowl dated I Centyry b.c. It was covered with gold and jewells by princess Urraca of Leon, about year 1.060..She ordered to cover the bowl with gold in a way that was imposible to put the lips on the stone. She built an "armour " of gold around the ancient bowl.
There are documents that prove that this bowl was shown as the Cup of Christ at The Holy Sepulcher Church in Jerusalem.
So, that is what the Tales of the Grail by Chretien de Troyes are telling you : The Holy Grail is a golden cup covered with jewells owned by an unmarried princess.
Princess brother , King Alfonso VI of Leon married with two french queens , from Aquitanie and Bourgoundy. Probably some trovadours of the queens travelled back to France and told about a golden cup and a princess.
Princess Urraca ordered to paint a big Last Supper painting just at the place where she was buried. The paintings are about year 1.090. You can see the cup and the paintings on the museum.
Sorry my poor english, please. It´s a complicated but interesting history .

There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever - historical, empirical or otherwise - that the grail (or graal) was a cup. This is mere conjecture, and has no basis in fact. The only recorded "evidence" comes from the over-excited imaginations of medieval writers of romances, whose tales were written with entertainment in mind, and were never intended to be taken literally.

Even if christ drank from the cup...it's just a cup. Jesus was just a man. There are many gospels that tell as much. They were thrown out by Constantine and the Roman church in order to push the divinity propaganda.

BIG ERROR! At 4:12. First Century AD, the drinker poured the wine in his vessel, which was like a syrup, then poured water to the strength he desired. The wine was not as we drink it today. After I viewed this huge error, I stopped watching. If you can't get that simple act correct then this whole video is questionable. THUMBS DOWN!
So inaccurate. I expect better from "Odyssey". You traded historical accuracy for sensationalism. This is like watching a documentary on the "History Channel" or "PBS".

It's a graven image at this point. The search for it has become more important than the faith it represents. If it is a cup, it just that a cup. And anything you put above christ is a graven image. Ppl missed the whole teaching of christ. If the cup was really that important, he would've told a disciples to secure it. All the hocus pocus rituals and bs perpetuated by the catholic church is sin. And if the grail is so important, then what about the plate that held the bread, which was the body of christ?
