Hi julia. I stick the fabric to the freezer paper and put it directly through the printer. Then I just peel the entire piece of freezer paper out off the back. It would take some experimenting to get the image to print on the right spot on the sheet. I cut using a cutting board, a sharp rotary cutter and a quilting ruler to make sure the edges of the fabric are not frayed when I feed it through the printer.
@@stitchesbyjulia Does your printer have the option to select heavy cardstock? I have to confess that I didn't think about that. Normally I print on very thin cotton. But if I find some heavier canvas or light denim I will give it a try and let you know my results. All in the name of arts and science.
@@stitchesbyjulia My dark inks - blues and blacks - wash right out of the fabric. They don't leave a trace. The browns and reds seem to be more permanent. I use this method to print "oriental rugs" for my doll houses, so I use all the colours but I guess if I was doing line art I would try printing the lines in blue as I know it washes right off. However, that might depend on the printer and ink. I have a Canon Pixma and the colour ink cartridge I use is CL-244, in case that's useful.
I have the Kodak Verite Craft Printer and it prints on fabric I love it I just scan what ever I want to print in to my computer and then I print it on my fabric I am making a memory quilt with all my family pictures on the fabric this is the best printer I ever had that prints on fabric I love it really love you ideas thank you for the video will be ordering your girls with the sunglasses so cute I have the same tin can for the wonder clips it is so cute I love it
Hi, Thank you so much for the tip about the Craft Printer. I will look into it. I am so glad you enjoyed the video, I hope you have a chance to try it! I love my tin of clips too:)
Considering this is an item you sell, I think it's very generous of you to share your creation process from start to finish. (Of course, 99.9% of those who watch will never actually attempt to ever make them, so you're very likely safe from copycats!). I adore your artistry, these "girls" are very whimsical and fun. Thanks for your video! ~Diana from Toronto
Julia, I am speechless !!! What a beautiful and gorgeous project is this . Thank you for sharing your inspirations . I love them all 🥰. You are so talented !!!!!
I just downloaded your cute little faces from Etsy. Since you asked if anyone had a different method from the freezer paper, I thought I would share. I traced the outline of the face from the sketches I received with a black sharpie. I put that onto my lightbox (daylite). On top of that, I put my very heavy denim-like fabric on top. I can see the tracing below very easily. I used a friXon pen to trace. Worked great.
You can print on the shiny side of your freezer paper from your computer, and iron the design onto your canvas. Thank you for sharing, these are wonderfully creative!
These are so adorable, I love them 😍 I have always wanted to try this kind of “drawing” / stitching and this video has shown me how to start. Thanks for sharing.
Armanda you are a great professional! I really like your techniques. the combination of paint, hand and machine embroidery is classy. The Queen 😊 I'm also working on it myself, but those are just toddler projects. How I would love to see your work in real life!!
Hey julia (again) I just watched a video on sew very easy(with laura) she showed a new product at least new to me it's Great! It's called free fuse its a glue powder for basting quilts but but but you can use it for applique, fabric to fabric, making your own interfacing etc. It stays soft, washes out and its nonstick on your sewing machine. One more thing it's 20 bucks for a shaker can and 2 oz. Or you can get refills for 10 bucks(2oz) and use your own salt shaker. I just learned about it and in my excitement I thought of you lol I just googled it and it's been around a while. Have a great weekend!!
Hi Patrice, I have got to check this product out! I have never heard of it. Many years ago, right out of college, I managed a fabric store. I was able to stay on top of all the new products and notions. Plus I had an employee's discount. Now I'm always late to the party! LOL. Have a great week. Julia
Hi Julia, another wonderfully talented video! Just a suggestion when you draw the design out on freezer paper use a pin to poke holes on the outline, iron it on the fabric and then use fabric chalk that you can pounce on. It will outline on the fabric. Then you can continue to use the same template multiple times. TFS l Always love to see you work.
Thank you for sharing your projects. I just started watching your RUclips videos. You have opened my eyes to more ideas. THANK YOU.... YOUR BRILLIANT & GIVING....
Hi, I'm so glad you are enjoying the projects! Summer is going way too fast but I'm really enjoying our beautiful weather. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Julia
Julia, I was so inspired by this video, that I created 3 cases for my friends for Christmas. They were so happy to receive them, and I really enjoyed making them!
So clever! I never can get my free motion to Look good. I have som long stretched stitches and some very tiny stitches. Sure not confident at it. These adorbs 😍💕
Hi Lovely Julia sorry I have been AWOL for a little while, just returned from a wonderful cruise to the North Cape in Norway, my first big solo holiday, I had a really lovely time but missed your posts. I do follow you on Etsy and saw these gorgeous girls in your shop, they are adorable and I can’t wait to head to your shop for the PDF. Going to make some for the girls when they come for their summer holiday in a couple of weeks. I hope you are enjoying good weather Julia, it has been rainy here since I got back but this weekend we are promised some good weather, fingers crossed. I hope you and your husband have a lovely holiday planned this year. I met a fabulous artist on the cruise from Los Angeles, I told her about your channel as she was very interested in textile art. Thank you for a fabulous fun tutorial Julia, you always make my day. Big hugs and loves Julia, lots of love always xxxxxxx Dorothy 🙋🏻😘❤️🌟
Hi Dorothy, Welcome back! Sounds like you have been on a wonderful holiday. My nephew was married in Norway a few years back and I was able to attend. There is no words for the beauty! Thank you so much for purchasing one of my digital PDF's! I hope you have a chance to create with it. We too have had a cool and wet summer but am getting some heat this week. Happy sewing and have a great weekend! Julia
Julia, Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful creations. I'm just setting up my craft room and ordering supplies so that I can create some of these projects. I've learned so much from your videos. Today I purchased your pdf of the whimsey girls. I can't wait to use them. Lori
I bought a shadow box with a top lid. I put white Xmas lights in the shadow box. Put the drawing on the glass lid, then the muslin. Trace your design. I figured this out myself cause the freezer paper was not fun!😁
These are just adorable Julia. You come up with the best things. I’m sure these make perfect sunglass cases. Awesome job! Hope you are doing well and having a great summer! Hugs. 🤗💕🍉🏝🌸
Hi Pam, Summer is going so fast! Can't believe July 4th is upon us. Hope you are doing well.. thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Julia
stitchesbyjulia I know summer is going so fast. We’ve had a lot of rain. I’m so ready for summer and sunshine. I’m always happy when I see you have posted a video. I have seen all of them and look forward to what you come up with next. You are just the best! Hope you sell a lot of things over the 4th of July in your flea market shop. Hugs! 🤗💕🐱🐾🦜

Lucy Honeychurch so much easier
Hi Lucy, I do this method when I print on muslin. I can’t send the heavier canvas through my printer. Maybe it’s my printer:)
How do you remove the printer marks if you get off a little when doing the free motion stitching? I always struggle with this.
