To me he sounded comparatively great. Once I had to sell some adds to Sweden, with my broken school Swedish which I had not used for 20 years... I think they bought all the adds out of pity.

This Swede for one thought he did really well, as i understood him, you should hear me trying to speak finnish (nothing i could say would be understandable) And no matter if it was a person with hearing problems on the other end, the officer still gave it a good go, which makes him better than most.
I am impressed that he was able to say "vad heter det" (which is a colloquial phrase I would only expect to hear from a native or highly proficient speaker) almost perfectly while the rest was just barely understandable.
Well, they always teach very high level use of every language, and some phrases stuck easier. Teacher saying: "And this would be a very good and polite phrase to use if you want to seem like a good speaker in Swedish"... Our little police student in his mind: "I want to be very good at this! I will remember that!" And nothing else hahhhaaaa 😁😁😁

I am from Sweden, so I meet Finnish people quite often, and their accent is very tenacious, so if you have been exposed to it for a while, then you will always recognise it extremely easily. I only need to hear a Finnish person speak for like 2-3 seconds before I can confidently and accurately verify that "yes, this person has Finnish roots".
I learned some Swedish, but boy I barely was able to catch when he switched to it from Finnish. Replaying 12 times with the help of Finnish subtitles I finally got him.

Hey there, there was no subtitling options on this video so I took it upon myself to translate this on my PC's notepad. Seemed like a fun little project to do as I like to translate stuff from time to time. Police 1 refers to the driver and Police 2 refers to the passenger who does the work on this clip. Here is some useful info: Tike, the person they talked about is most likely the swedish contact that Police 2 had to call. SRVA, which is a central for handling wildlife accidents and hunting them down if the animals leave a scene the police usually contact in these cases. Police 2: Well the 112 notified us from a small deer accident or an animal accident. Police 2: We don't yet know what there is but apparently some woman had driven over a deer animal. Police 2: Apparently the animal was left to suffer there so... Police 1: I would say we have the subject here and there is 1 participant in this traffic accident. Police 1: I'll ask Tike for the SRVA Police 2: Give me your gloves, I don't want to use my own for this. Police 1: No, your quite good at that. Police 2: Damnit... Police 2: The deer was dead there so we moved it to the side of the road and called a contact then. Police 1: Could you put a bit of police tape around the traffic sign so it will be found easier? Police 2: Yea. Police 2: On this job the job distribution went so that I did everything and put me to drag the deer and call this swedish SRVA contact who takes these dead animals away. Police 2: Pehkonen from Pohjanmaa's police good evening. Police 2: Yes, we have a deer crash here on the freeway. Police 2: These jobs come where you have to use the swedish language so I let my stick swedish go there. Grammar is all over the place as it has translated everything direct with Finnish grammar. I mean, the words in the sentences are in wrong order for English. I did not read all of it through, because it was messed up. So get the grammar right in English and it might work better.

Really dont understand why they still have to learn swedish in school?? Those who live in Finland/Suomi and has Swedish as first language should be obligated to learn finnish if they want to stay in that great country. Ok not maybe if you are 70 or older... My father was finnish (i cant speak finnish) but i dont presume people in finland must talk swedish with me - me and my cousins speak english with one another.
But we (Fenno-Swedes) do have to learn Finnish in school... It's mandatory, and even more extensive than the Swedish education for the Finnish speakers😅

Finland has a Swedish speaking minority. As a result both Swedish and Finnish are official languages in Finland. The area they're in probably has a high percentage of Swedish speakers as they're in Österbotten.

Finland has a Swedish speaking minority. As a result both Swedish and Finnish are official languages in Finland. The area they're in probably has a high percentage of Swedish speakers as they're in Österbotten.

@@freyawesterback7579 Vaasa, about 20% only. But the hunter propably was from somewhere in Oravais or elsewhere in rural countryside where you find small swedish majority villages and communities.
