Fantastic! I worked for 3 days trying to connect gmail to Outlook, and there are potentially so many settings that one can alter to make that process a real pain!! following your video through, I was able to skim through the process in about 20 minutes (couple of pauses, as I was setting up both my desktop and Laptop at the same time). Thank-you very much, you have earned a following!
Finally, someone who knows what they are doing! I have almost run out of ways to do this. I changed the settings for my Gmail account before setting up Outlook but still could not get it to sync. The TLS-587 setting made the difference! Others and Gmail instructed to put SSL for both settings and 465 for the Port. I'm In! Thank you so much!
Great help. Thanks! For me it was the 'allow less secure apps' setting mentioned at 11:54 that was the issue (although I didn't get the same error code/message, Outlook just kept asking me to sign in). A more direct route to this setting is to go to your "google account" and select "security" then scroll down to "Less secure app access" and turn it off.
Excellent 'how to'. Finally figured my issue out. Thanks for making sure your mentioned the correct ports. I thought I had them right, but my outgoing port was wrong. Thanks
Thanks and finally I was able to set up my gmail account. Other than the moving the mouse around that was distracting, you did a great job, every error you had, I was having, so it was perfect to help walk me through and Voila I'm in. Thanks again.
Voice not so clear, I mean not more....Need to increase.... But really a nice video without extra background or time wasting thing... Thanks a ton for great training by small time.....
Thanks this was a great video. I'm glad that you had some issues just like I was experiencing. Because you had to go through some additional security steps I was able to locate and fix the issue I was having.
This video was awesome thanks so much for your help. Us common folks would never fiqure this shit out lol. The video was easy to follow and fixed my issue. Thanks again have a good one dude
Making Gmail on OUTLOOK Step 1: Do you have 2 step verification? If so you have to disable that. Step 2: Allow unsecure apps. It's not unsecure but google prefers using their Oauth. Step 3: Enter manual set up. Step 4: Select POP and IMAP Step 5: Enter name field i.e real name or company name Step 6: Enter full email address Step 7: Select IMAP, IMAP server(Recieving mail) "imap.google.com", SMTP server(Sending) "smtp.google.com" Step 8: User name field keep same as email, and enter password and remember me. Step 9: Click More settings, leave general the same, and click Outgoing Servers Step 10: Under Outgoing click the check and have "Use the same" selected Step 11: Under "Advanced" tab. Incoming Server = 993, Encryption = SSL. Outgoing Server = 587, Encryption = TLS. Step 12: Click "Next" and it should be finished.
This video is outdated so you should use the Google Workspace Sync tool (tools.google.com/dlpage/gssmo/). That will allow you to import your Gmail folders
Thank you for this tutorial. It's hard to understand at times because of enunciation. Also, moving the cursor all over the screen is distracting and hard to watch. Working on these issues would help you make a more polished tutorial :)
At 4:49 - outgoing server smtp My question : does the code applicable for eachsetup? Since you manually put it. Same goes to incoming server imap. I'm from Malaysia. Need to try this in the morning. Thank you.
in case you are still struggling with this: I had to change my Outgoing Mail Server settings (within advanced settings to SSL and Port 465)... everything else as on the video. I was about to give up then tried the settings on my iPhone and they worked
At 4:38, for Outgoing Server SMTP, you selected TLS and 583. Another video selected Auto and 25 for this. How do I know which one is right for me? What is this, and how does it affect my setup?
TLS and port 587 are settings which uses encryption so it's more secure as the email data is encrypted. However, some email services don't support TLS and 587 so you may need to use Auto and 25. Many services support both settings. Always try to use TLS and 587, and only default to Auto and 25 if the former is not supported
This really work, Thank you but enabling less secure apps will enable attackers to break into my account. Can I turn off the less secure apps? Or just leave it on? I am thinking that enabling less secure app, made my outlook works but I am also thinking that turning it off may affect my outlook. Thank you for response in advance.
We haven't found a way for it to work without enabling less secure apps. With that said, if you are concerned about security, you can enable two-factor authentication. If you do, you will need to add the Outlook app as a trusted app. That is beyond the scope of this video but you can do a quick Google search to find out how.
Hi came across your video, haven't tried it yet. I have one question to ask. I am trying to set up a RUclips channel for my business, but link it to my outlook account for consistency purpose. I do have a specific gmail account that I created the business RUclips channel. Is there anyway I can set it up with my outlook account, or do I have to use gmail and link the two accounts? Would also appreciate your feed back on using google verses outlook for business purposes.
As long as you have an email account with Google, you can set it up on Outlook. Also, Outlook works well for business purposes if you have 1 or 2 primary email accounts. You can set up those accounts on Outlook to check your emails. If you have other auxiliary accounts (e.g. info@yourcompany.com), maybe it would be easier to check via google webmail than Outlook
X-Tech Solutions, Inc thank you for your prompt reply. this maybe a stupid question, but can you set up RUclips channel with outlook email address? or I need to link gmail email to the outlook email. It sounds like it less complicated and that i should just stick with a gmail account, yes or no for all business purposes. agree or not agree.
I don't know why Google considers MS Outlook not secure. You can setup Gmail easily in the Windows 10 Mail App and it doesn't have this problem. Another place to look if you get errors: go to myaccount.google.com/ and go to Signing in to Google. Scroll down and see if you 2-Step Verification on. If it is on you have to get another password to use in Outlook. If you don't want this turn it off. Scroll further down the page near the bottom and see if Allow Less Secure Apps is off or on. You need to turn it on for Gmail to work it Outlook.
You might consider IMAP if you are only syncing emails on your Outlook. The Google Apps Sync works well for syncing Contacts and Calendar. Here is the link to our video for GSync: ruclips.net/video/f6tQ3fLeqaI/видео.html
Good video because things do go wrong. Please speak slower and articulate better. It is difficult tu understand sometimes because you speak faster then warp 9.
Hi Nkosinathi Vilakazi, if you are having trouble linking gmail to outlook, you can download the G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook tool (tools.google.com/dlpage/gssmo/) and set up your Gmail profile on Outlook with that tool
Nicholas, if you entered everything correctly, maybe there was a connectivity issue with the Gmail servers during that time. Try again in a few hours. If same problem, maybe it is your network. See if you can try from a different network.
This is the message i get :: Send test e-mail message: Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
Try two things: 1) do NOT wiggle the mouse all over the screen as a nervous gesture, and 2) do not wiggle the screen up/down as a nervous gesture either. I am trying to read some items on the screen and you are wiggling the screen up/down and making it impossible to read. So help us out by not introducing unnecessary screen actions which are not essential to making your point. Instead of nervous mouse and screen wiggling, try zooming into the part of the screen showing what you are talking about, draw boxes around the part that matters, or draw arrows, etc. But no nervous mouse/screen wiggling as they add visual distractions. If you are using Camtasia then TechSmith has wonderful tutorials on how to create tutorials which includes these and additional points. You could have cut out the failure screens and just told us the several things that needed to be set in the first place. ...
Hello, I am having difficulty loading current emails. My email was created a few years ago and the only thing outlook wants to pull up is emails from 2013. My only problem with this is that I have been deleting emails for days trying to find my current emails but am still stuck with emails from 2013. Can you help me with this problem.
Trey, log into your Gmail webmail to confirm how many emails are on the cloud. If the emails you see through webmail and Outlook don't match up, you might have a setting on webmail that prevents syncing of all your emails (go to settings->labels) to confirm.

My question : does the code applicable for eachsetup? Since you manually put it. Same goes to incoming server imap.
I'm from Malaysia. Need to try this in the morning. Thank you.
It's not a code, but a port number that you put in. For incoming server, the number is 993 and for outgoing it is 587. Hope that answers your question
Thanks! This helped a lot!
