Man I bet my life on an HK. Seeing the sights off a little was not a deal breaker. I switch out my sights on all my pistols to my favorite night sights. I have a VP9 but I still freakin love my USP 45! Best gun ever! Things one accurate tank! Keep doing what you're doing HK.
To me that's unacceptable.. especially for the cash dropped... if I was the store owner (if it wasnt a big box store) I would of order a new HK swapped pistols with him and sent the old one back and tell the manufactur to to either detail clean this gun up or send me a new one... Not just say.. "at least it's fixed!" Terrible customer service.. I know I'll never buy a gun at that store, unless I find a magic steal deal..
I was thinking the same thing. It’s not being picky. The same way the store wants the customer to pay for the new product the customer should receive it in perfect condition. Bad leadership and customer service. The store already made the sale and should’ve made it right. The shop should’ve contacted HK and had a new gun delivered to the customer.
Both of my pistols combined, one with CTC laser, the other with fiber optic, were less than that sticker price. I wouldn't trade either for that let alone both.
@@losxlakers That was a little odd, at least they fixed it, wrong answer!! Actually box stores would’ve just swapped for a new one. That vp9 is so capable of quarter size groups at 7yds. but fist size is more than good for running and a gunning.
Bought a VP9, Optic Ready version recently. Mounted a Holosun 407 Red Dot. Did all this before thoroughly researching, based on the recommendation of a friend. Now that I have seen several reviews, I am even more convinced that I did the right thing. Recently took mine to the range, and with the Red Dot, at 25', put 45 rounds inside a 3" circle! I absolutely love this gun! It may become my new preferred CCW piece. Working on setting up the best holster for it, for both IWB and OWB carry options.
Geez, I just bought one of these. I hope mine isn't a P.O.S too. I don't understand the lack of quality control with some of these people. "They had a bad batch and they knew about it " Yet they didn't notify you. This says a lot about HK. And whoever sent you that replacement should have been fired. HK is looking pretty shitty to me right about now, right after a $800 purchase. There are far too many fanboy reviews and fanboys too. I really appreciate an honest review of who HK truly is. Thank you.
$800 bucks I’d be mad if they sent it back all scratched up yeah I get it’s just rear sight that you’ll prob end up swapping anyway but HK is supposed to be known for quality and that doesn’t represent quality to me. But I sure you’ll love the firearm don’t personally own any HK products but have shoot a toon of different ones and will add one one day!
I've seen enough. For $100 more than Glock that I think is pricey, they need to be perfect. Not even close. For half this price there are great options.
Those grips on the slide are freaking amazing, i love them, all my firends have trouble racking the slide on their guns at the range while i do it with ease
I purchased vp9 and vp9sk a few years back--about 800 rounds of old and mixed ammo out of each. The vp9 has night sights, the other H&K day glo's. Both guns have run flawlessly and they both make me a better shot than I am. I sold my Glocks and S&W to purchase them--it was a great choice and I have no regrets.
Great to hear the 800 round report. I have the vp9 tactical. Still brand new. Havent put any down range yet but want to. I wonder if I can switch out the slide on mine with the rmr slide?
I'm glad you posted this review. Nothing like spending some cash and getting a new product and finding out it was damaged. Then to get it back discolored tells me that the internal processes are not being followed. What a bummer as I love the brand.
If the store wants the customer to pay new price the product should be in perfect condition. If the product is not perfect the store should ask the manufacturer for an exchange to have a great reputation. I’m subscribing to this channel because of this honest review and sharing this experience. I’m going to shop around for a different brand. I thought I found the right gun, but I don’t want to deal with the crappy customer service and quality control. The worker at the gun store mentioned HK fixed it but try to sell it to a shop in that condition and they’ll low ball you more than they normally do.
I have never heard so much hate for a pistol brand in my life LMFAO. I have owned three H&K pistols including the vp9 and never had any of these experiences that you guys are showing in this video.
Point Blank Range in Matthews does not look like that today. Wished they still had those stock levels. Great range, shop though. The entire staff there are excellent. Big thanks to Taylor for all of his help the many, many times I have been in.
I’ve owned the 3 HK’s some of the most accurate dependable guns on the market just a little more expensive I’ve never had a failure and shoots any type of ammo with no problems. Good video thank you.
The fact HK said it was a bad batch speaks volumes about them as a company. They are honest and owe up to manufacturing errors. Yes they struggled to meet demand on the VP9. It happens. Had it been a company like Springfield, they would never say what actually happened and if it was an isolated incident or a bad batch.
I own two VP9's the SK version and the 2020 optics ready one. You peaked my curiosity, I'm at work, so I walked out to my truck and checked my 2020 gun........both sights were solid! I would be really disappointed if my gun had loose anything, right out of the box. I mounted the Trijicon RMR on my gun. I am waiting for suppressor height night sights for a co witness situation. They are not available yet. So muscle memory on presentation is getting better......but the rear sight is different than the earlier HK's so none of the other sights currently on the market, will fit. I have other guns, a few are glocks, which my 19 is my favorite of those. I like the feel, and the trigger on the HK better.
I bought my H&K VP9LE used. It has a 2014 date code (BE), and a German manufacture country code (DE). It has Meprolight Tru Dot night sites. It has been absolutely flawless.
The sites and the loaded chamber indicator paint situation sucks for such a high-quality firearm that’s had one of the best reputations in firearms for decades. I personally own the VP-9B with the button release I could never get used to the euro style paddle magazine release. But that’s just me.
Hey brother. I bought the VP9 2020 in late March, and I had the EXACT same issue with the rear sight coming loose. I was quite pissed off that a $650 handgun had that issue, but I contacted CS and it turned out that many 2020 VP9s had the same problem (like you said in the video). I got a shipping label from HK, so they paid for shipping both ways and were able to get the gun back to me in a week or so for free. The rear sight is rock solid now. Pretty shitty that my first HK had a major issue like that, but it happens. My sights were not marred like yours, so I guess I got lucky.
Love my VP9. It is my favorite Polymer gun. Fits my hand almost perfectly. The trigger breaks cleanly and I shoot it very well. Nothing not to like for me.
They replaced your rear sight with probably anything lying around. They may do some of the better pistols out there but I agree that their customer service needs a very big upgrade.
Quite the opposite. They admitted it was an entire bad batch. They probably installed the new sight and torture tested it to replicate the first ones failure. It’s a gun. It’s going to get rub marks.
Love my vp9 and vp9 sk. But, noticed poor finishing on the slide when I got full size home. Called HK-sent it back and they did NOTHING with it. I received a letter stating the finish was within their acceptable standards. Had a similar experience with a Smith 66 and they were happy to refinish the entire gun for me without any questions. HK- great firearm but poor QC and customer service. Smith & Wesson customer service is fantastic!
Damn, I just bought one, but didn't see this honest review. There are too many fanboy reviews apparently. You really have to appreciate an honest review.
I found the VP9 easy to shoot. Hard to miss with it but I did have a couple FTF issues in the first 400 rounds. Mine came with the luminescent sights which are not bad but not my usual sight set up. All in all a great pistol, some would say over engineered but the quality is there.
I bought the same gun in August 2019.. I love it favorite gun out of my 11pistols.. just remember to always keep it clean.. oh I would of requested a whole new gun no way I’m dropping $730 and I’m having second thoughts
I’m right handed and use the trigger finger on the paddle to release the mag. My hand is small and on the traditional mag release buttons I always have to take time repositioning to make it to the mag release button. Paddle is perfect. Randy-IL
I would be pissed if they returned it in that condition. Your purchase seemed like a bad experience. I haven’t shot mine. I hope I don’t have any issues.
I like mine a lot. HK runs holiday deals where its 200 dollars off and you get 4 free magazines. So price of a Glock and 6 factory magazines total. IMO its a steal at those prices.
I have the original VP9 and have never had a problem with it. Mine had some tooling marks on the internal rails, but it ran fine. I'm waiting for them to release the 2020 model in other colors. Hopefully this rear sight issue is fixed.
I am a big HK fan , I just owna SP89 , SP5K, HK91 ,HK93 Hk 94 HK benelli M3 super 90 , USP 40c, P2000 40 , Tan VP9LE , and a P30. I just bought a VP9 optics ready and a VP9 tactical. I will be picking them up in a few days, I hope not to have these problems.
I've had issues with XS sights on my H&K's. Its XS machining tolerances not H&K. Thats why H&K never went with 3rd party parts up until now I guess. Cmon No Compromise! Go with Trijicon if you do!
I’ve had mine for about a month now with about 900 rounds through it. Front sight was off a bit and I had to tap into position. No other issues thus far other than my poor shooting skills. Just picked up the 20 round mags and they work fine as well. I just wish they had the Red followers on them. Waiting for my Holosun 508T Green Dot to come in.
Congrats to your gun! Sure there was some trouble at the beginning but you will love the HK reliability. Mine (SFP9) shoots EVERYTHING. No hickups! Greetings from Germanistan
🤣🤣 Trouble at the beginning is an under statement. I just bought one, but after watching this video I definitely can stop believing the quality hype about HK.
I've had my OR VP9 for about 2 months and 2k rounds through it and rear sights completely came off. But I also noticed right away another issue, when I slap a mag in when the slide is pulled back it doesn't always go back into battery. Please do a follow up video with any issues you might also have. And it seems the magazines arent as tight as they were on day one.
Should have gotten the 2019. Obviously quality suffered. I have two vp9’s and an sk. No issues no problems and used the officer program with a free $150 for each gun. Mepro sights aren’t the best-not worth $180, but for $150 I only paid $30.
First thing is never settle “I guess I’m okay with it “ that what they hope customers will do and for $750 that’s Baloney. Hey I’m old and trust me to many times I settled for things but I’m the one that gets shafted. I’m a little confused why they didn’t just change your slide out unless that’s where serial number is.
Thanks Aaron. I’m sure they fixed them by now. I’d say go and shoot one to confirm that you love it. Maybe compare it to a G17 and also a CZ P10 and then pick your fav. 👍
I have the same problem with the rear sight moving around to the point I could easily slide it off (also when I'm racking the slide, my hand moves the sight). Also the front sight is off centered as well. I guess I got the bad batch as well. It was my first pistol purchase too! Disappointed at HK quality when they are renowned for quality... Looking to send mine back to HK or at least let my local shop know.
Right on Kobe. Yeah. I’m a fan of the Night Fision sights. Make sure you check out their Orange and Yellow front sights. I took my 2020 XS Front sight and replaced it with the Night Fision sight. $40-50. I put them side by side in the dark. The new Fision sight was actually brighter. It just didn’t flow with me putting it into the video so I left the side-by-side comparisons out. So far so good on that.
Can't ever go to wrong with HK! The marring issue would bum me out a bit to at 750.00.. shoots good though. I recently purchased a Springfield XDM ELITE 3.8 and really am impressed. Good video
Wow, that situation with the rear sight is kind of disheartening. I'd ask Tommy to send me out some suppressor height sights since you're going to need them anyway.
It's crazy how the one guy at around 4:42 mark saying "at least they fixed it"... id be PISSED if I dropped a grand on a pistol and the rear sight came loose to than send it out and wait a week to get it back with a damaged rear sight... so no that's not "at least they fixed it" because that's not even close to acceptable, I just bought my tactical today and I PRAY this does not happen to me
Does anyone know how the VP9 compares to CZ P10C, Glock 19 gen 5 with regards to trigger and accuracy? I know this is a bit subjective, but has anyone shot these that could give some details on which they shot best with and why?
All more accurate than majority of shooters. Most might say The Cz has the better trigger of three but I prefer the HK trigger. Although I believe the vp9 is the worst handgun HK ever produced. You buy Glock because of its reliability availability and some like the reset and low bore axis and size. It’s the smallest of the 3. Really you can’t go wrong with any of them. If I was just started to shoot Guns I’d probably opt for a cz p10. Beware I didn’t like the grip texture to aggressive but some like it.
I have a few HK’s and this was going to be my next purchase. I’m on the fence now, you shouldn’t be having issues like that. My M&P’s were almost half the price and I never experienced loose or marred sights. People will pay the HK premium, but there’s expectations with that price tag. Disappointing
"At least they fixed it" is not good enough for me. You are paying almost double for what is "quality and craftsmanship".I have dealt with some warranty issues, Smith and Wesson actually cleaned my revolver after test shooting it. They replaced my yoke even when all it really needed was a new strain screw just to make sure there was no endshake. If they marred the shit out of your sight while pressing it, they should have replaced it entirely and started again. I love HK and want this pistol very much but this kind irked the shit out of me.
That salesman was a jerk and HK is pretty pathetic if they can’t stand behind their product what do you mean at least they got it fixed it’s a brand new gun I would have sent it back and had them even fix the scuffing
Yes vp9 tactical uses the 40 spring. And of course it has the threaded barrel. The standard vp9 does not have threaded barrel. My tactical gas the heinie sights on it. But some are dif I believe. Thats the differences that I know of. The tactical is beautiful. Great gun
HK doesn’t care about customer service for civilians they never have. Being an LEO and carrying HK’s for duty use that’s when you get the service that you would expect.
I don't know if you can help me but I just bought an HK VP9 with the year being CA which I am assuming is a 2020 model, it comes with three 17 round mags but does not come optic ready. it instead came with night sights; is my VP9 supposed to automatically come optic ready or is this another option for 2020? if anyone can help I'd appreciate it.
I’m sorry 😐 but I would want a new pistol. Sad to see from HK. “At least they fixed it “. Low expectations at the least. If my colt that was about the same price had any problems like that I wouldn’t buy colt again Any pistol over $500 dollars should have problems like that
That's one thing that pisses me off the most you send something back to get fixed and they return the product back with a scratched like that' disappointing even for me to watch.
HK and a bad batch? I guess anything can happen. HK didn’t put out as many consumer guns as they used to and they must be struggling to meet demands. Yikes. Glad to see they replaced the slide and admit they had an entire bad batch. Most companies dance around that information. The sights being a little blemished. I’m guessing they roughed them up at the factory to try to replicate the sight failure. HK is a good company through and through. It just seems the pandemic has the entire gun industry off kilter with demand.
I just got the HK45 in April (first gun). I've fired the VP9 before. For some reason, I like hammer fired. That said, I want the HK P30. Can that 17 round mag fit the P30?
If you are reading this and haven’t made the purchase please save yourself the trouble and buy something else. Hk can’t provide mounting plates to make use of the optic ready system. Safariland still doesn’t make a duty holster for this firearm and that should tell you everything you need to know. It’s a 800 dollar Glock that has none of the upside of a Glock. Spend a little more and get a real hk these are hot garbage
That’s a great deal! Well give it a shot and for sure come back here and let us know. Our hope and intention is that they (HK and XS), fix the problems for future customers. I’m sure that yours will be fine.
I just bought a Beretta 92x from BassPro Shop for $800. Light primer strike at least half the mag, every mag. Beretta not even picking up the phone right now, all closed due to Covid19. Ridiculous we pay premium price for crap like this, unacceptable
My USP 40c is and will always be superior to any POS VP9. If you compare the polymers, the USP recipe is much more substantial while the VP’s feels like a formula for toy plastic
I liked the previous VP9 model much better. The VP9 2020 just has some visual flaws I don’t like and the new case insides it comes with is.. undesirable...
Cut for optics, that's the only real difference !!! Almost identical to the original !!! Save a couple hundred bucks and don't "upgrade" Just buy the 2020 slide with the optic cut and have two or have yours cut !!! Definitely return it because of the damaged sight !!!
Wow, not good. Not sure how the replacement sights got shipped out like that. Please call and ask for Tommy, we will ship out some to you ASAP.
Awesome customer service gentleman.
Maybe you guys can help me, my left charging support on my SFP9/VP9 fell off, how can I get a replacement?
Man I bet my life on an HK. Seeing the sights off a little was not a deal breaker. I switch out my sights on all my pistols to my favorite night sights. I have a VP9 but I still freakin love my USP 45! Best gun ever! Things one accurate tank! Keep doing what you're doing HK.

After the issues I had with my first VP9 I will not be going back. Got rid of all my HK's except for my USP Compact 45.
2nd guy handles that recoil really well
I’ve owned the 3 HK’s some of the most accurate dependable guns on the market just a little more expensive I’ve never had a failure and shoots any type of ammo with no problems. Good video thank you.
Must have been the lockdowns and low employee count that caused this bad batch. H&K is one of the most reliable guns there is.
The fact HK said it was a bad batch speaks volumes about them as a company. They are honest and owe up to manufacturing errors. Yes they struggled to meet demand on the VP9. It happens. I carry the vp9 every day huge hk fan being a lefty not a big optic on pistols but I think i will look into buying this soon
I would be pissed if they returned it in that condition. Your purchase seemed like a bad experience. I haven’t shot mine. I hope I don’t have any issues.

Best strike fired gun along with the Walther
I have the original VP9 and have never had a problem with it. Mine had some tooling marks on the internal rails, but it ran fine. I'm waiting for them to release the 2020 model in other colors. Hopefully this rear sight issue is fixed.
That w/ be cool. I’m sure they will.
I've been thinking of buying one but after watching the quality of ur problems with it makes me wonder how active self protection praises the hk.

Wow that is quite a few HK Guns...
I love this gun
HK is like the Mercedes Benz of handguns
i think if you just put some cold blue on those sights, it'll get rid of those wear marks.

I just bought one more today from PSA for $499 with night sight and 2 17rds mags. Both mines are not MOS.
Will do. Thanks for the heads up.
I bought this gun and I love it 🥰
I’m glad my friend. 👍
II'd like to see HK put out an all steel handgun...VP9...optic ready...
The rear sights movement is for your windage adjustment. Haha.
Beautiful gun 👍
Had the exact same problem with my rear sight.
Is this Point Blank Range in Matthews, NC? if so, I love the guys there! Best range in the Charlotte area in my opinion.
Absolutely I live in Matthews and I'm in there every other weekend
I love my VP9 👍
Sucks you had so trouble initially. Shoot, I was looking forward to getting one myself. Maybe the beretta instead.idk anymore
Thanks Aaron. I’m sure they fixed them by now. I’d say go and shoot one to confirm that you love it. Maybe compare it to a G17 and also a CZ P10 and then pick your fav. 👍
They have 17 round mags now. Crazy.
I cannot believe they have that much inventory right now, every place I go is practically sold out.
They don’t now my bro. They are picked clean just like everyone else.
Did you ever get it solved by HK?
I'll probably pick up some front sighrs for my 2020 VP9 since the rear sights is not compatible with the older VP9
Is it your EDC? If so, how do you like it so far?
I just got a brand new USP .45 with the date code of CA it’s fucking amazing
Can't ever go to wrong with HK! The marring issue would bum me out a bit to at 750.00.. shoots good though. I recently purchased a Springfield XDM ELITE 3.8 and really am impressed. Good video
Esa BB si que me encanto
Wow, that situation with the rear sight is kind of disheartening. I'd ask Tommy to send me out some suppressor height sights since you're going to need them anyway.
Nice man. Cody seems like a riot. Lol
T-Dog, Any HK’s in your collection?
Cody is a good dude for sure. When you have time we need to get you out to his outdoor range.
@@Guns_and_Outdoors_Channel used to have a p30. Great gun. Honestly I prefer the walther ppq series or sig over hk
thomas burch.. Walthers are nice. Them, HK, and CZ
Hey that looks like point blank in Matthews that's my favorite range I'm in there all the time
Agree. Totally recognized it.
Amen my brother! You are Spot On.
You buy a Lexis, you don't expect (or should you accept) Chevy Colbalt fit & finish!
That sucks. Pay HK price and problems already?
Mines came like that too
Would a cold blue pen touch up take care of the rear sight marring?
Randy-IL
My 2020 VP9 with night sights did not come with the red rear pin like his?
That salesman was a jerk and HK is pretty pathetic if they can’t stand behind their product what do you mean at least they got it fixed it’s a brand new gun I would have sent it back and had them even fix the scuffing
What are the differences between normal 2020 vp9 and 2020 vp9 tactical? Cosmetic aside, is the vp9 tactical still using vp40 spring?
Yes vp9 tactical uses the 40 spring. And of course it has the threaded barrel. The standard vp9 does not have threaded barrel. My tactical gas the heinie sights on it. But some are dif I believe. Thats the differences that I know of. The tactical is beautiful. Great gun
HK doesn’t care about customer service for civilians they never have. Being an LEO and carrying HK’s for duty use that’s when you get the service that you would expect.
Wow! I would call and complain. The sight looks used on a new gun.
Where did you get a #2 plate? I had to send mine out to get a #2 plate built for my RMR. I called H&K and they said there not available.
HK’s website at the time Mike.
Its just another option, to get the gun with both night sights and the optic cut it's an $800-$900 gun
Which Sig trigger feels like a VP9 trigger?
I hope you didn't pay that retail price on the tag, they are going for less than that...
I didn’t get a great deal. I got $20 off the tag.
I’m sorry 😐 but I would want a new pistol. Sad to see from HK. “At least they fixed it “. Low expectations at the least. If my colt that was about the same price had any problems like that I wouldn’t buy colt again Any pistol over $500 dollars should have problems like that
Just change the sites out and put some nice trijicons on there or some true glows!!!
Good shootin
Nice looking gun but I wouldn't want anything to remind me of this terrible year. Lol
It is the same magazine but you probably figured that out by now.
The first guy has awful recoil control. The 2nd guy (retired special) has great recoil control. Night and day difference
Just got one for $619. Hopefully I have no issues but watching this video I'm a little nervous to take it to the range..smh
That’s a great deal! Well give it a shot and for sure come back here and let us know. Our hope and intention is that they (HK and XS), fix the problems for future customers. I’m sure that yours will be fine.
This is just one review. HK gets about 99% good reviews.
@Ghost True !!! My EDC is the HK VP9 FDE LE and it's magnificent !!!
New doesn't necessarily mean better. Most do better with this gun than you did.
High quality my ass.... you should tell HK either you send me the new sights or im going to buy another pistol from CZ LOL !
