Summer, you explain hair care well. Thanks for the videos. And I agree, silk pillowcases are an amazing investment, especially for mature women like myself. No lines on my face when I wake up and yeah girl, that is a huge plus…. along with less tangles in my hair 🎉 Winner winner chicken dinner 💁🏼♀️❤
My favorite leave-in conditioner is the Redken One United. I also like the one by Purology but it's so heavy that I only use it if my hair feels dry. I get a haircut every 6-8 months. I've had too many stylists who didn't listen to a word I said. It didn't matter what I said or did. I wanted the slightest trim and always ended up losing an inch or two. If I did that every 8 weeks I'd be bald. My current stylist seems to take directions better but I still wouldn't want to cut my hair that often. Have you ever tried the Revlon Root Booster round brush? I'd love to see a review of it!
I LOVE that one from Redken! Pureology truly is so amamzing but my fine hair can't handle it. I have not tried that from Revlon. I do however low the airless heated round brushes, I just got one delivered today in the mail that I can't wait to try!
Yes, I also have fine hair and there's no way I could use the Purology leave-in conditioner every time! I stopped bleaching my hair over a year ago but have been letting my hair grow out so the ends still have bleach on them. I'm pretty sure that's the only reason I can occasionally use such a heavy leave-in! I ordered the Revlon Root Booster and it should be coming tomorrow so we'll see how that goes. Hopefully you'll review the airless heated round brush. I feel like I'd be too lazy to use it since it would require me to dry my hair first. 😂
I loved using the Living Proof no frizz leave in conditioner cream but it was recently discontinued. (All 3 of my holy grail products were discontinued-- LP No frizz leave in conditioner, Living Proof TBD styling cream, and Got2B Fat-tastic plumping mousse). I am now trying the Living Proof restore leave in spray. I have fine, frizzy hair. I am also very sensitive to fragrances and LP is usually a brand I can tolerate the scent of. edit: I used to use a silk pillowcase! I should try it out again. It was comfy to sleep on, too.
Noooo! It's the worst when they discontinue products! I hope I can assist in helping you find some new ones or you find some great suggestions in the comments. The silk pillow case is always a good thing to use!
I have fine to medium hair, and I used Kenra leave in for almost 5 years and my hair grew longer than in my life. Kenra is very light like water. No one mentions it but it’s a great option. I now use that color fanatic by pureology because I watched videos. It’s stellar. I washed my brushes in the dishwasher but found it was just as easy to do it in the sink with Dawn and brush… I do wash my brushes every hair wash so I start with clean each hair wash. Since we use them to brush products “through “ I cannot imagine not rinsing and cleaning it each time.
I love using a silk pillowcase, and I always keep my brushes clean. I can’t really see the difference. I have been using Pureology color fanatic leave in conditioner. What a difference it makes! This is a great video.
What about my boomer hair that has gone platinum naturally? I HAVE to use purple conditioner to tone out the yellow. But purple products seem to strip my hair and make it very dry. Any suggestions for purple conditioner to protect my hair?
Love to see it Summer, cleaning my brushes is the best part and it's satisfying to the point where occasionally, I accidentally leave them longer than I should but nonetheless it's the best part of it all 😅
I found that the moroccan leave in conditioner was incredibly heavy with an extremely heavy perfume scent! I completely weighted down the fine thin hair. Looking forward to trying you suggestion for Quai leave-in conditioner....hoping that will be light enough.
I have fine hair, and my favorite leave in conditioner is loreal ever pure 21-in-1 leave in. I only use shampoo, conditioner, leave in, and serum every time I wash. Then I'll use a hair mask once a week, a scalp scrub 1-2 times a month and rice water rinse about once a month. My "everyday" wash and conditioner is a bond repair line (either liasion bond shampoo and conditioner or loreal bond repair) and I'll use a clarifying line (either loreal or weightless by live, love, locks) once every other wash or once a week. These routines have saved my bleached hair. Along with a silk bonnet, and scalp massages have been game changers. My hair is so healthy, it's growing like crazy, and my hair dresser can't believe it!!! I only use shampoo, conditioner, leave in, serum, and thermal protection if I'm heat styling which i cut down on doing. I can go 4-5 days in between my wash days without using a dry shampoo. I love my routine and minimal products to get these great results. I'm so ocd i clean my brushes every time i use them 😂😂
A GREAT drug store leave-in is: L’Oréal Paris EverPure Sulfate Free Moisture 21-in-1 Leave-In Conditioner for Dry Hair, Longtime hairstylist here so buy with confidence! Very cost efficient! Summer's tips are ON POINT!!!!
Love, love, love your videos! Im guilty of not using a conditioner so it doesn't weigh my hair down. I need to purchase either the Moroccan oil or Quai.
I used to use Pureology Color Fanatic Leave In Conditioner but found it too heavy on my fine, thin hair so have switched to Ouai Leave in Conditioner based on your recommendation. Ouai doesn't weigh down my hair at all! TSM for your suggestion🙂. I also really appreciate it when you suggest products I can buy at Sephora due to their great holiday and spring sales.
It's so nice right!!!? So happy you are a fan of Sephora like me! They do have great sales and fast shipping! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!
I love all of your videos Summer! I have hair similar to yours, maybe a little thinner. I have been using Moroccanoil Treatment Light a couple times weekly. Just a tiny bit, rub it in the palm of my hand and rub it into my ends. I have never heard you talk about this and wonder what your thoughts are. I think it has helped me have less split ends and breakage.
That is an amazing product! Truthfully I forget I have it because I'm constantly trying products out lol. So many companies have come out with new oils. You've reminded me to start using it again!
Hi Summer! I use the KMS leave in conditioner and heat protectant. I also use the KMS Moist Repair shampoo and conditioner, so far I have been loving it for my coarse thick wavy hair. I love your new hair style - looks amazing on you! 😊💕
Omg I used to be OBSESSED with KMS! I've never understood why they are not more popular because they have such solid options! Thank you, I love it! Getting used to styling the short hair again, it's been yrs!
Thank you for this video, Summer! Your videos are always very helpful! Would you talk about how to clean a blowout brush? I have a Revlon one and it needs cleaning desperately. I've seen so many different videos online and have been afraid I'll ruin it. Thanks again! Have a great day! :)
Thank you for watching! I actually thought about this when doing my time stamps, cleaning a blowout brush. I would personally just use Clorox wipes or Barbicide wipes, making sure that no liquid is dripping from them as you clean. This is also why I like the T3S Airbrush Duo as you can remove the brush heads to clean better.
I need help with my hair!.. lol... no matter what I do, it's always tangled and looks dry. I also have lots of split ends. And yes, I do use a leave in conditioner and use good hair products (mostly Olaplex)... and I only use hot tools in special occasions... so I'm not sure where I am going wrong.
Diet has alot to do with hair. Duh! Watch utube. Rice water rinse on scalp. Section. Spray roots. Massage scalp. Take a vitamin E tablet daily. Don't brush wet hair.NO
Such a helpful video!❣️. She’s like the Dr. Dray of hair (but with far better hair and immaculate makeup!). 👍🎉 I use a leave-in from Sally Beauty that claims it’s for damaged hair, but it doesn’t help my hair at all & is quite heavy. 💔😔
I have fine wavy hair, medium to heavy density at the crown, thinner at the occipital bone and below where it is really wavy and frizzy. I like Pureology 21 leave-in spray. Designed for color treated hair. I still use it although I stopped coloring my hair some time ago. Verb has a nice leave-in conditioner mist. An affordable option is Garnier Pure Moisture 10 in 1 leave-in spray. Pretty good! Just don’t use too much.
Hi Summer! I have fine, thin hair and Unite 7 seconds detangler leave in conditioner is excellent! It doesn’t weigh my hair down, provides heat protection and smells heavenly. I hope you try it!
I have used that, I actually have a small sample bottle of it from an order of hair goods. That one for years was a client favorite at the salon. Great reminder for me to try it again. I have not used it since I when I hated leave ins in my past hair life 😂
Hi Summer! So I wrote this protocol based on several of your videos. My hair had incredible body. But the next day, it was pretty dry. I did several permeations where I left out the mousse. My r lay hair looked flatter: but less dry the next day. I think that the mousse is very drying especially for mature hair. ❤❤ In shower: 1. Wash Hair making sure to concentrate shampoo into scalp not into ends 2. Use K18 treatment mask in shower (can leave in or rinse out) four minutes Out of shower: 1. Comb hair gently using wide toothed comb 2. Add root lifter (Moroccan Oil Root Boost) 3. Add volume mouse to mid section of hair and to hair ends (Moroccan Oil Volumizing Mousse) (1-3 pumps depending on hair length 4. Add Leave-in conditioner (Purology Color Fanatic or Moroccanoil All In One Leave in Conditioner) 5. Add heat protectant (Moroccan Oil Perfect Defense Hear Protectant) 6. Lightly rough dry hair using blow dryer with *concentrator* for 2-3 minutes and be sure to lift roots of hair upwards with fingers 7. Use butterfly clips to section hair and round brush to dry hair fully
Hi Summer! Can you please comment on using a leave-in conditioner while also using minoxidil? I'm struggling to find a good routine since I started using minoxidil because the latter needs to dry before applying other products... should I apply leave in conditioner and other products like root lifter first and end off with minoxidil before drying?
I love Pravana Polish & Reunite, it's for both hdration and frizz. (amzn.to/3w4jTi2) You could pair it with Moroccan Oil Hydrate Styling Cream (amzn.to/3Sw4azW) or Brazilian Blowouts Ionic Bonding Spray (amzn.to/497IYHE). The bonding spray with the Pravana Polish and Reunite I always got great feedback from clients on it keeping their frizz at bay. The Ionic can be a bit heavy if over sprayed, so start off with less if you try it out. You can also use the Pravana on dry hair as well, you don't need a lot, or you can use an oil like Moroccans or Olaplex 7. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!
How often to cut ✂️ is comfusing .. Some other stylists that I watch ...Such as Chris and a few others say to only trim every 6 months .. I have very dry coarse hair and use it's a 10 leave in and 2wice a week use a heavier creamy leave in ..Do you suggest a creamy leave in or just stick with the spray?
There really is no right or wrong answer on trims bc it really comes down to hair type and your routine. As stylist of 17 yrs some clients definitely needed to come in at that 8-10week mark while others seeing them at a 4-6 month basis was fine for their hair. Have you tried the No. 6 from olaplex? And are you using a mask shower treatment weekly at all?
@SummerBeautyc yes I use olaplex no. 6 .. Not sure if I'm using it right. I use it before I blow dry..but was thinking maybe I should use it on airdry days? Also I do use a mask atleast once a week. Maybe not leaving it in as long as I should tho
No leave in condition...utube....rice water rinse....section hair. Spray after shampooing. Don't brush wet hair...air dry. Don't shampoo every day!!! Brush daily more than once a day. Before bed. Shampoo combs brushes in baking soda just short time. Cool water. Doesn't matter temperature.
They are bonding treatments to help repair and rebuild the hair structure. They work very similar and when used correctly you will see results, depending on your level of damage of coarse. I personally feel like K18 works a bit faster than Olaplex and it's easier to use.
I am new to your channel. Please let us know how the Moroccan leave in conditioner works for you. I am currently using the Pureology Color Fanatic, and it doesn't seem to be working for my fine hair. I live in Florida.
Yes the Pureology is so lovely but SO heavy for fine hair! I want to use the MO one fore a good 7 washes to get a feel and then switch back to Oaui. Keeping a journals of my thoughts lol
Does the Moroccon oil leave in conditioner weigh hair down? I've tried the Ouai one & love the smell, but doesn't do much for my hair. I have thin frizzy hair, but a lot of it.
I have very fine hair and have used Purology’s leave in conditioner. I never really noticed it making my hair heavy, but maybe because I don’t know any different? Moroccan Oil scares me because of “oil” in the name. Can you give a recommended product list in their line for very fine, fly away hair?
Like all of Moroccan Oil scares you because of the oil? I am so obsessed with them and have the flattest more fine hair! lol. Fly aways, as in the hairs on top of the head that like to poke out? If so I like just a light hairspray to keep them at bay!
It’s the word “oil”. It just makes me think “heavy”. Your hair is gorgeous and if you use it and have fine, lifeless hair like mine, I’m gonna have to give it a try 💜
Just stick with the volume products! If you ever get brave enough to try the actual oil make sure you get the Light Oil. Still gathering my thoughts on the Leave In Conditioner!

You've got to lift it some to spray, how I'm doing it in the video. Use a wet brush starting at the ends, most important part, always start at the ends and very gently start to detangle!
Oh my goodness, I bought a silk pillowcase a year ago and honestly, my hair has been the same or even worse in the mornings and I still have to wash in order to be seen in public…… I’m just hoping that maybe the pillowcase is making it healthier some other way?
I use the Kenra Daily Provision Leave-In Conditioner. I used to use the Purology Leave-In, but my hair would turn into an oily mess. I also stopped using a silk pillowcase because it would make my hair oily faster. I sleep with my hair in a top bun.
I’ve been trying to incorporate a leave-in conditioner, but no luck. My hair is fine, but I have a good amount of it; and it gets weighed down very, very easily. I’ve tried the Pureology and the Ouia. I’ve also tried the root boosts by Moroccan Oil and Kenra, and I have to use them sparingly. Even that makes my hair flat. Any suggestions? I do everything else you talk about here.
@@SummerBeautycIt is 2-3” below shoulders and mostly one length. I’m afraid to cut it bc I’m in a humid area and I always pull back the sides to cover a long back part that I hate. I think you’re going to say - shorter and layers!
Have you tried spraying a few sprays into your hand and then applying that way? I cannot spray it into my hair without it causing heaviness and oily look.
I love the analogies with this! I also do agree with these tips 100% I just have such fine hair I don’t know how to ever wake up without it being insane. 3 strands makes it so tricky 😂
Omg you cracked me up with that last comment 🤣. When my hair is longer I use a silk scrunchie and keep it pulled up on top of my head. Nothing too tight but just to keep it all in one place. Because yes, otherwise it goes wild
I’m really bad at washing my brushes!! I don’t! 😳I shall change that. What are your thoughts on pureology Color fanatic leave in conditioner. I have super fine hair.
I used to have that mind set. My hair hasn't complained once since using it. If you don't want to use it every single wash that's fine but it should be a product you actively use, at minimum, 50% of the time.
My hair is thin, fine, and basically shitty. The ouai weighed it down sooooooo badly! and I tried it several times. I probably used up about half of the bottle and did different techniques and tried to switch up the shampoo and maybe thought it was the hair oil and at the end of the day it was just the worst thing.
It's a fan favorite! I do love it but find it heavy for my hair type. I would say it's the best option though for those who need extreme hydration, esp when starting out a healthy hair journey.
Diet...take a vitamin E tablet daily. Utube....rice water rinse on roots. Give it a try for a month once a week. Don't add anything else to water. Massage scalp daily.
the ends of my hair curl. I wash my hair in lukewarm water and use Vegamour Hydra 8 shampoo and conditioner i squeeze the water out and use a microfiber turbin thing until my hair is mostly dry. I use no scary hairy, a heat protector and I divide my hair into smallish sections and use a wand dryer to dry my hair. I stop when it is almost dry. I have a silk pillowcase and clean my hairbrush
Wand dryer you mean a blowout brush? You may need higher heat to set the smooth look you are trying to achieve in your hair. You can do this with either a flat iron set no higher than a 350. While you don't want extreme heat you need a high enough heat to smooth out your hair to get it to stay in the shape you want.
Did you know that even what seems like the most simple things, can actually destroy your hair when left ignored?? These 3 simple mistakes I cover today could be what is holding you back from the hair of your dreams!

1. Comb hair gently using wide toothed comb
2. Add root lifter (Moroccan Oil Root Boost)
3. Add volume mouse to mid section of hair and to hair ends (Moroccan Oil Volumizing Mousse) (1-3 pumps depending on hair length
4. Add Leave-in conditioner (Purology Color Fanatic or Moroccanoil All In One Leave in Conditioner)
5. Add heat protectant (Moroccan Oil Perfect Defense Hear Protectant)
6. Lightly rough dry hair using blow dryer with *concentrator* for 2-3 minutes and be sure to lift roots of hair upwards with fingers
Btw I'm new to your channels - thank you for all the great videos!!! Learning a lot!
I apply my minoxidil first before any other products.
Hi Summer! I love your videos and I learn so much. I have thick hair and just wondering what products do you recommend?
What is your main concern? Are you looking for something to help smooth, control frizz? Something to help hydrate?
I have wavy and frizzy hair. I need help with frizz control and hydration.
Thank you so much! I’ll definitely try. 😊
Anytime !
Can you tell me the color and brand of lipstick you are wearing in this video! So beautiful!
I have a satin pillow case is silk better?
Satin is great as well!
@@SummerBeautyc great thank you so much.
What kind of leave in conditioner do you use for thick hair?
The one from Pureology is great!
@summerbeauty Would love to know what the difference is between k18 and Olaplex 8… are these considered protein treatments??
They are bonding treatments to help repair and rebuild the hair structure. They work very similar and when used correctly you will see results, depending on your level of damage of coarse. I personally feel like K18 works a bit faster than Olaplex and it's easier to use.
Thank you so much for your reply!!
Are these bonding treatments okay to use weekly for most hair types?
I love Millshake foam leave I conditioner. Smells good and not sticky and my hair shines.
I use the Moroccan Oil leave-in conditioner and LOVE it. Brutus knows how to play his role👌😁. It was great seeing him in so many scenes 😄.
I'm excited to keep testing it out! He's pretty darn cute, going to start demanding payment in bigger treats 😂
Pureology colour fanatic :D fine to medium hair
It is a classic! It's super heavy on my hair but helps anytime my hair is feeling dry.
Don't leave it in....

I have medium long fine hair and I'm not sure how to move my hair to get the leave in into my wet hair and be gentle on it at the same time. Help!
How long is your hair? Is it one length, any layers? And how do you blow dry it?
@@SummerBeautycIt is 2-3” below shoulders and mostly one length. I’m afraid to cut it bc I’m in a humid area and I always pull back the sides to cover a long back part that I hate. I think you’re going to say - shorter and layers!
And I blow dry the top in sections
Have you tried spraying a few sprays into your hand and then applying that way? I cannot spray it into my hair without it causing heaviness and oily look.
I like it's a 10 spray in lightweight and their mask is great also
I love the analogies with this!
@@SummerBeautyc ooo that is a good idea, I don’t actually have one of those so I will give it a try ☺️ I just am dreading the day I say one strand 😆
I’m really bad at washing my brushes!! I don’t! 😳I shall change that. What are your thoughts on pureology Color fanatic leave in conditioner. I have super fine hair.
Soak brush, combs in baking soda. U wash hair. Wash utensils too
I use Sexy Hair Healthy Core Flex anti-breakage leave-on reconstructor on my straight medium color treated mature hair. PS- your fur buddy is so cute.
Getting so many good product recs! Love it! Brutus is pretty darn cute 🐶
Pantene Miracle Rescue 10 in 1 Multitasking Leave in Conditioner
What part of Florida are you? And do you have a solon?
If your in Florida. Coconut is a great diet product. Great for hair, diet. Raw Coconut, eat..makes hair wonderful...
I tried that Moraccan shampoo and conditioner I was not impressed. Better not younger is 100% better.
I have heard that leave in conditoner is a no-no for fine flat hair.......
Fine to medium hair here 🙋🏻♀️…color fanatic leave In conditioner ❤.
It's a fan favorite! I do love it but find it heavy for my hair type. I would say it's the best option though for those who need extreme hydration, esp when starting out a healthy hair journey.
Fine haired girl here and i use Its a 10 lite leave in conditioner. Pretty weightless!!!
I always forget they have a whole lite/volume line!
Yes the white bottle it's a 10 is the weightless one the blue bottle is a nope.
I use J Beverly Hills leave in spray conditioner. I like it but always looking for a new one
Use a dollar store denture brush to scrub the brushes! (timestamp aprox 8:20)
Yes!
U don't need to scrub brushes. Baking soda cleans just fine if you take hair out of brushes after each brushing
Can you take a look at J Beverly Hills products
Will do! Thanks for watching and the suggestion!
Nope I do all this n my hair is still crap cuz of my horrible well water. Nothing helps.
Diet...take a vitamin E tablet daily. Utube....rice water rinse on roots. Give it a try for a month once a week. Don't add anything else to water. Massage scalp daily.
why didnt you answer my question about the ends of my hair curling at the ends? I told you my routine
I try my very very best to answer all questions! I am so sorry if I did not get back to you! Can you please explain again what your issue is?
the ends of my hair curl. I wash my hair in lukewarm water and use Vegamour Hydra 8 shampoo and conditioner
i squeeze the water out and use a microfiber turbin thing until my hair is mostly dry.
@@SummerBeautyc the dryer smoothes my hair and is good The only issue is the ends curl Would I use the flat iron for the ends
Yes, you probably need to flat iron your ends.
