whirl was originally from the armored trooper dorvack line, as was roadbuster the deluxe insecticons (venom et al) were from another, similar line. all of them (including jetfire) were made by tatkatoku toys tfwiki.net/wiki/Takatoku_Toys
The sword does store on the vehicle mode! Not mentioned anywhere in the instructions but the hilt of the sword has a pair of super tiny little holes on each side that will correspond to equally tiny little pegs located on the top of the heli mode between the two long tail struts look between the second segment of the tail pieces just behind the wing roots. The connection is actually pretty secure though the sword is kinda just there and doesn't look the best. Still, I am super happy to have all of the accessories stored in both modes.
Hey Peaugh the sword stores on the top of the alt mode, the two small pegs on the start of the rear section clip onto the small holes on the handle of the sword
@peaugh: Ben, I have followed your channel for the last 8 years. Great review as always. I remember wanting this swirl as a kid in early 80s and it's astonishing how far these toys have developed in the last years. Go on and thanks for every video you do. Simon
Gerwalk mode? What is this... Gerwalk mode? Do you mean a guardian mode? You know, like Robotech? (This is a joke I know that it's called a Gerwalk mode because Macross please don't shred me to pieces)
Turben is based more on Whirl's Stormbringer/LSOTW appearance. As such, his head does indeed have that much darker blue look to it. The canopy color needs to be more orange, but I like how it looks with the yellow, myself.
Poor Turben. I don't know why he was delayed so much (as evidenced by his book), but it sounds like his thunder's been stolen. That's why I'm waiting to get Oberon.
Have you looked into the Dr Wu Ancient Swords, by any chance? I got a set (they come as a pair) for my Generations Cyclonus years ago. Just did an ebay search, found them for 13 dollars w/free shipping. It's a pain to find, though. Run a search for "ancient sword 2pcs".
OMG! I must get this figure! Whirl is one of my favorites from More then Meets the Eye comics! I love how he is a happy-go-lucky homicidal crazy-bot!!!
Nice toy - slight problem the antennae is stuck fast on mine so I can't transform him as it gets in the way of folding it up. [edit] I finally managed to move it - darn scary though as you can't put any pressure on the Arial to do so you have to press on the face and try to rotate it that way VERY CAREFULLY - I just hope it gets easier - if not - it's staying down for good.
Stormbringer Whirl is alright I guess... But MTMTE Whirl is where its at
So instead of naming him after a tur*bine*, they named him more closely after a traditional men's head wrap?
1. Very intuitive.
2. Not so complex, I like it.
3. Robot mode looks good.
4. Alt mode looks great.
5. Don't really understand that gerwalk mode....
Oh...we'll then.
pretty much infringing on the gerwalk mode of the macross toys
You can't have Whirl without gerwalk
Wasn't G1 Whirl a Macross toy anyway? It wasn't Diaclone. I know Jetfire was Macross.

I canceled my preorder a long time ago... Now I have to get him. LOL

So if he's "got the chicken legs" then isn't the third mode more of a "GIRwalk-Mode"? I love invader zim
His Gerwalk mode looks like the enforcement droid from robocop. Lol
Gotta get this guy
Wish his head looked more like the Generations figure's.
Hey Peaugh the sword stores on the top of the alt mode, the two small pegs on the start of the rear section clip onto the small holes on the handle of the sword
This guy will benefit much from some panel-lining detail

You're very welcome! Thank you for watching!
peaugh thanks for reviewing 🙏🏼

I think most fictions call his V-mode a gyrocopter. That being said, I would rather have the Obsidian version
does anyone know if mastermind creationis planning to release their sword accessory separately? love to use it with some of my figures

Isn't just a remold of generations drift sword
Yes... Chicken Legs.
Does it also possess a new-generation distortion-cloaking system?
That type of aircraft is called VTOL or something and that VTOL mode looks like one from call of duty black ops 3
Do you still have Boreas? Because if you do, can you post a picture of him with Turben together on Twitter?
What HasTak or 3p Whirl would you recommend for a MTMTE/LL display?
Does the cockpit open up? (Thinking Diaclone figurines.)
At 4:22 it kinda looks like ED-209 from Robocop
i think this guy could get heavily remolded into BM jetstorm
This looks awesome!
I really wish the generations whirl had a hole or clip in the hand so he could hold things like this one
Might get this guy some day. As much as I adore the T30 one.
not going to lie, that is one cool looking toy, but i think i like Obsidian more.
looks better than the hellicopter mode
I could not care less about the gun flap

mdredheadguy1979 he reminds me so much of Deadpool or Modern Harley Quinn
Autobot Brainstorm I hadn't thought about that...
Thanks for bring up that point.
Still not idw accurate 😤
Where can I get him

Does the helicopter turret flip out in robot mode for comic accuracy?
Yes, and while in robot mode the "chest" (or helicopter canopy, if you will) and angle up/forwards in order to give it that particular look.
Shockwhirl.
Whirl!!!!!!
Oh man, they need to give this figure a military gray repaint
Love the little Gir reference :)
