Another great review Adrian, well explained and good demo. Many thanks for sharing the info - have a great weekend
Adrian, enjoyed the review. That looks like an awesome lens option specially for the price. BTW, congratulations that more and more companies like Viltrox are reaching out to you. Shows that your reviews are appreciated by your audience.
Thank you very much for watching. Much appreciated. Yes, I am getting a lot of companies reaching out now. That being said I also get a lot of requests from companies that have nothing to do with photography. I turn those down as it has nothing to do with my channel. I should make a funny video about it one day. Have a great weekend my friend, cheers 🙏
Hi Adrian, a great review video, buddy! It is interesting how good some of the cheaper glasses got over time. That lens will definitely not compete with a high-end lens but for a small budget a good choice. I think, especially for video it looks really interesting. Thank you for sharing and have a nice weekend, Christian
Great review, Adrian. Looks like a really nice lens, and it fills in a gap (fast, low light 28mm) that is currently not filled by the Nikon S lens lineup. Thanks!
I've actually wondered what 28mm is good for, but a good portion of my photos are taken between 16 and 35mm, so I can see this working well. Having said that, I'd probably never buy one, but this was great information for anyone interested. Loved the old color checker and the examples you have with it. And some really nice sample images with it as well, especially for that price! Great stuff as always mate! Loved the swooping bird sign 😂 Hope you are doing well, have a great week down there!😮
Thanks for watching Paul. I guess if I could only have 1 prime to walk around or travel all day with, this would be it. Seems to fit the bill. Looks like those Fall colors are getting into full swing over there. Looks awesome in your pics. Keep up the great work mate, enjoy your week ahead 📸🙏
Great review, I appreciate you testing AF right off the bat. Since I use everything from 50 year old film era lenses to Nikon Z lenses I assume most modern lenses will be pretty sharp. I recently tried the Megadap Sony E, to Z mount adapter with my 25 mm Zeiss Batis lens and was surprised at how well it worked in AF with my Z6, not the best camera for auto focus around.
Hey Adrian. Thoughts on using this lens for real estate video tours? I've been looking for a semi-wide angle lens that opens up more than my f4 10-20mm that I use for photos. This fits my budget, just wondering if this is wide enough for filming interior spaces. Thanks!
Thanks for watching. I would be tempted to go with 20mm for real estate. Seems to be the sweet spot focal length for that. Viltrox have just released a 20mm F2.8. If you google it you’ll see it’s compact as well
My most used lens on my D750 is the 28mm F1.8G; They gave us a 28mm F2.8 and it isn't even an S-line and then they put out a 26mm F2.8; so they probably aren't going to do a 28mm F1.8S anytime soon. So at least this makes up for it; but am I making a mistake buy buying a Nikon camera and not getting Z glass for it...
That lense seems really close to their older 24mm F1.8 in IQ et AF speed, on some level i can understand that viltrox want to make more affordable lenses but at the same time when you see theirs latest releases like the 13mm F1.4 dx, the 75mm F1.2 dx or the 16mm F1.8 FX that one seems cheap, i mean that's the point but viltrox was finaly making lenses that are really good and not " good for the price " like with their older lenses.

Looks like an awesome lens Adrian. Great, detailed review & nice test shots! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers Peter. Hope you have a great weekend buddy 🙏👍
Excellent sample photos! The 28 and 16mm were the primes I was missing in the Nikon Z lineup. Now it's half filled in.
Many thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated. Enjoy your day 🙏

Great run down & review. That lens performs beautifully and seems to be really versatile. I can't believe the low price. Fabulous.

Looks like a nice lens, Adrian! I noticed a great looking sunstar in one of your photos too!
Hi Phil. I noticed that too. The lens does take a very nice sunstar. Have a great weekend 🙏

@@adrianalfordphotography I’ll look into it, thank you 🙏
It’s an incredibly normal lens, not to wide but generous in view, very nice.
The 28 1.8 was my go to walkabout lens on my Nikon DSLR. Really bummed that there was no Z mount version.
I was surprised how good 28mm is

Thanks for watching. There are some amazing 3rd party lens manufacturers making big strides on Z mount. So no you did not make a mistake 🙏
Hello
May I ask how this vitrox compare to the Nikon Z 28mm f2.8? Also a “cheap” lens at similar price point
Viltrox has a wider aperture at F1.8 which I prefer for more shallow depth of field
I think this is a very interesting lens even though i own the 35 mm 1.8 from Nikon
