This is it, everyone. The game so many of us have been anxiously awaiting is getting to our doors. Paul’s Gloomhaven video taught me the system so many years ago and the game solidified my love for hobby board gaming. This Frosthaven video is THE definitive rule explanation: thorough, clear, logical, and well-edited. Stick with it and this game will last you many sessions. The game has been worth the wait, and these videos teaching it are worth your time, I promise. Kudos to Paul’s hard work!
Thanks. This video is quite different. It's almost 4x as long, but quality wise, much better. I look awful in the old video. I do go into a lot more detail with this video though - it is a full, comprehensive rules video, so was never going to be short. Took me ~20 hours to write and work on the script. I've made some whole videos in that time!
So much to take in, even for those of us who have played JotL and Gloomhaven. You've managed to break it down perfectly in these 2 videos. They will be invaluable when we get round to playing.
Very useful viewing so far. It's interesting to see the tweaks/streamlining of some of the rules/icons from Gloomhaven and all of them look to be for the better. Thanks for putting the time into this video, and I'm looking forward to seeing the Outpost tutorial when I've time. I really like the evolution of the looting rules in Frosthaven to include resources for enhancing/crafting items at the outpost.
We just got Frosthaven for Christmas, just finished setting up the box and am enjoying this option for learning the rules. Coming from Jaws over here, and I have to say I really did enjoy the 5 scenario tutorial that let us learn to play as we went. Thanks for the video!
Great video as always from Paul. I would classify this as the definitive video version of the FH rulebook. Thank you for your efforts and for Cephalofair making the right choice to support its creation.
I just wanted to say I'm so impressed by the rules explanation. I've been watching these having never played Gloomhaven and its so easy to follow. While waiting to assemble my party I then loaded up the Gloomhaven computer game to find that I understood what was going on quite easily.
One of the longest tutorials ive ever watched but enjoyed every bit of it! And thats from a veteren Gloomhaven player who knew most of the rules anyway. Thanks for the video Paul
Yeah. I was concerned by the length of it and suggested splitting it into smaller videos, but Isaac convinced me to keep it all as one (apart from Video 2 of course) :)
What a resource for everyone to have, great to see examples given as well to see how things work. After watching I know I will be coming back for clarification rather than spending time hunting around online. These two videos are something you can be very proud of with the quality but also the help and enjoyment they will bring people for years to come.
Thank you so much for this video. My brother, a friend and I had a disastrous first session going through Scenario 0. We then all separately watched this video (without actually saying so to one another) and gathered again for another attempt this evening. The difference was night and day, all because this video explains the core concepts of a quite complicated game in an easy to follow and understand way. And as a result, we managed to complete Scenario 0 without a hitch. Again, thank you so much!
Clear, thorough, all around excellent job! Really appreciate that there are examples for almost everything, and the extra touch of highlighting relevant elements is fantastic.
Paul, my hat is off to you. These instructions are incredibly detailed, thoughtful, thorough and clear. You never cease to amaze. You are truly the ninja of game rules. Thank you for the blood, sweat and tears on this one. I heard in your end of year video this one almost ended your illustrious career in making game rules videos (I will need to take you out for a drink to be regaled with the stories behind that close call). Keep up the great work. Appreciate you and all that you do!
I've been invited to play Frosthaven tonight. Have never played either Frost- or Gloomhaven before. Even without any pre-understanding of the gaming system, I feel like this video gave me everthing i need to start playing along with the other Gloomhaven veterans... Thanks!

Very solid video. We haven’t played Gloomhaven in a while so happy to get back into things but i definitely needed a reminder on things. Thanks for the hard work.

Thank you for the video Paul. My brother and I have been playing JotL and Gloomhaven over the past couple of years...and this was still a great refresher. Your hard work is much appreciated.
Brilliant! Thank you so much for this Paul. Essential viewing for anyone new or old to the ‘Haven universe. Clear, concise and above all accurate rules laid out in a relaxed and easy fashion.
Regarding exhaustion - it's important to understand that if all you have is two cards in your discard pile (and none in your hand) your only option is to long rest. This is because when you declare a long rest, you don't do anything until your turn comes around at initiative 99 - then you discard one card and become exhausted. This means you can spend your last turn as an easy target for monsters, soaking up some damage instead of your teammates - assuming you are closest and don't have to fight over being focus.
So exciting, your epic adventure making this video to play an epic adventure. I'll have to come back to the video once I'm at the point of playing the game! Thanks Paul!
As one comes to expect from your channel Paul, another fantastic and well put together tutorial - especially impressive for a game such as Frosthaven.
