- Collection of my posters produced in the early 1970's, all printed and dated by Western Graphics Corporation, Eugene, Oregon or Pro Art inc, Medina, Ohio. (USA)
Some of these posters are reactive to ultra violet light when used in a dark room the colours bloom when UV light falls upon the designs.
My personal collectors set of the original felt velvet posters by TRANCEHI - Кино
Although I wasn’t born until Aug 9 1969 every piece spoke to me and really hit home. The best times of my life happened in the first 15 years of my existence. I feel so privileged to grow up in the 70’s-80’s. The world will NEVER be that great ever again!
March 3 1967 George I feel that man. I hate this modern world and what it has transformed into.
I remember paying the most 3 dollars back in the 60s for blacklight posters. I had the cellar filled with them and a few 6 foot blacklight tubes. I remember painting all the walls black then hanging the posters on them......it was cool and playing Jimmy Hendricks, CCR , Mountain, The Who, The Doors, Ten Years After and countless more. Great times and you have a great collection.
Awesome collection! Posters were such a great thing in that era. I also loved the full size posters you used felt pens on to colour. Amazing times for post art.
Oh man, this brings back so many memories from when I was a young boy in the mid/late 70's. It seems like every older brother or sister, cousin, neighbor kid, or stoner about the neighborhood had at least one of these posters. I remember my older brother had quite a few. He'd actually convert the basement rec room into a listening room on weekends and have friends from school or he neighorhood over to listen to music. He'd put up all his posters, but on the strobe light/black light, and listen to music. Us younger siblings just enjoyed the posters and strobe light mostly. Trying to run across the room and jump on the couch with the slow strobe going and keep from bashing your knee on the edge. Good times.
Very cool collection reminds me of my room as a youth as I would draw and paint the walls and had some posters from 71 to 75.
Hey thanks for showing this poster art, I recall going to Spencer's in Buckingham Square mall and buying some of those exact posters. I would council some bored artists to make new works of art with today's tech... again thanks for bringing back dusty memories....
Awesome Collection! I had the last one The Castle and The Black Panther with horizontal stipes! I had some others like Cat Face Close up, Ghost Ship, Taurus the Bull and one of my favorites! It was called "Attack!' It featured a Winged Elephant with tentacles on the tip of it trunk coming down out of sky with long sharp tusks and claws on its feet, attacking a a Dragon-headed snake like Sea Serpent! I have looked EVERYWHERE for YEARS and have Never seen another even pictured Anywhere! Unfortunately over the years it along with the others got ruined! I would LOVE to find it again!
My room was filled with these as a kid.
Awesome video, I love blacklight poster art. I'm an amateur artist and my dream is to make blacklight posters one day. I especially love the old houses with the moon in the background in your collection. You definitely have an amazing collection.
We'd love to see your work...
You have quite a collection of "flocked" posters. I worked at Western Graphics in 74-76 ... it was my first job. Someone asked about how these were printed... they were screen printed and the black fuzzy "flock was blown on. I worked in another areas of the poster company. Surprised me to see these.
Interesting.... Would you happen to have any idea on how many units of each poster were printed? Not like an exact number but if you had to guess? I'm interested in hearing how much of each print were produced. Most of my collection is later 60s early 70s but I have a few Western Graph. in my collection "The Return" and "Tree House" are ones I know off the top of my head.
+Dianne Christensen do you know of anyone who still manufactures or produces these type of posters? I am looking to get some of my own designs printed in this vintage blacklight velour look
They have been out of business for quite a few years. I have no idea what happened to back stock. When they were printing a particular poster they printed pallets of them I have no idea how many...alot. If I see anyone who might know something that would help out I'll leave a note here. :)
+Dianne Christensen
Ok cool, thanks for the response!
One of these days I'm going to get around to making a video of my collection.
Thanks again!
I also worked at Western Graphics. It blew me away to see this collection. I was at WG from Jan. 1997 until Aug. 2006, when it closed for good.
No other company was able to produce the quality of posters that we did. Many companies had tried, but were unsuccessful. WG was around for almost 30 years.
These are "flocked" posters. The sheets of paper were screen printed with ink in the exact pattern that was to be flocked, then sent into a flocking machine were the fuzz would sprinkle down and cover the ink. then the poster was sent through a dryer to cure. The process is much like you would print a tee shirt.
Some posters had a black-light print on the litho and the flock was to accent the pattern.
Most of the flocked posters that WG produced were made for coloring-in. The posters would have flock in the surrounding area and you were to color in the picture. These posters were accompanied with pen sets and shrunk wrapped for retail sales.
WG also supplied many litho posters. I'll bet you had one of theirs on your wall as a teenager.
very awesome, thanks for sharing your awesome blacklight poster collection in great condition..wow!

Nice collection
Amazing
Great collection..
Though i would use 2 hands when handling them and also use a glove.
And get some sleeves to slide them into to preserve them from harm..
I see a collector grabbing these for well over 10k
Keep them nice and they will treat you nicely..
( I own an original print( Michael Jordan poster- before the color was injected into the poster and the color bar on side with markings) also signed..
Only poster in the world like mine and probably worth a mill or more..
Its been in a frame since my 18th birthday..when i received it as a gift from my pops..
I am almost 40
And it is still in the same frame..
I won't ever sell it. 😂
I had a great poster of the Zig Zag Man. It was great but I had no idea what it promoted. Out of curiosity, what is the best way to store and keep black light posters?
Wow! This is my dream)) must have!
Thanks , love even the ones I don't like!
The only one I had was a victorian house similar to the one at 1:43 , but not the same one. It got torn so I didn't keep it. I got it for selling magazine subscriptions in Jr. High. in the early 70s.
that is so kool!
i wish i had a blank wall for these to blaze it in the dark with the uv
we had some nice shit back then, thanks.
Awesome
Have one called Return! It is beautiful.
I have a alice in wonderland black light poster and a halloween one with black cat with skulls and ghost and bats really dope looking.
The Pinball Wizard poster is rad!
I had that very last one with the castle! In fact... It might still be around...
Can you tell me what kind of light you are using - a fluorescent blacklight tube or an LED? I've got some nice old 70s posters and would like to know what you suggest for display. Thanks for sharing your great posters!
I would love to buy a few

@trancehi How do people get the paint on the felt? Is it a hard and expensive process? I would like to make my own...
Does a regular holographic poster react interestingly to a uv light in the dark?
Do it in a Van is awesome.

Hello! Could anyone tell me the approximate cost of these planks? In this case I'm interested in the tenth plate where an old house with a full moon in the background ...

Id say It's around a 60 dollar poster in mint condition, there were a small number of sister posters from the same artist that were available also at that time. all out of print and unavailable, unless you can find a collector or nos stock from an old head shop or record store. like the majority of most blacklight posters of that era, they are becoming increasingly harder to find...i should know iv only been collecting them for 30 years😄👍✌ good luck
I had the one with the Black Panther in Cave. I just found out it was thrown out two years ago. Now I am on a quest to find one. I won it at throwing darts at the balloons at the Big Exhibition. I hope someone can help me out.
