- A few months ago I made the decision to review the first episode of The Flash Season 9 in which I said I’m going to be reviewing every individual episode before reviewing the season as a whole. This series of videos became much bigger than I expected, prompting me to make individual arc reviews as well, thank you everyone for watching and caring about my opinion but now it’s time to fulfill my initial promise. This is a review of The Flash Season 9.

What really annoys me is how Ceclie’s arc this season, about how she can balance life as a hero and time as a parent, should have been Barry’s. That would have been a good arc for him in his show’s final season.
Cecile was hawt as a DA but as a side character she was cringe and annoying i really hated when she time travel to her future self she threw up her when things were tough and walked out all the while barry is missing snd out of time like wtf you got speedster in your family that can get to the home joe is living in seconds or use allegra teleporter balls like wtf what is the issue??
@@AurianWarriorOfDarkness Exactly. Cecile is just yet another character whose actual purpose in the show’s story ages ago but hung around because apparently the Arrowverse writers don’t use Legends as a dumping point for characters they don’t know what to do with anymore.
The only thing Cecile was good for was showing them melons 🗿
Season nine was trash the writing in this one was garbage and they would have followed the comic and had better writers. It would’ve been good. All these female villains are garbage. In red death was trash making a female doesn’t make it better.

I hope Eric at least got what he wanted from Cecil. He clearly was trying to get that virtue cake 😂. Dude literally said "screw y'all im tryna get laid" to the fans.

Lol Cecile’s message of “it doesn’t matter how little time you spend with your family as long as you love them” to justify her remaining a hero sounds like Eric Wallace throwing shade at Grant Gustin for leaving to spend time with his family. Obviosuly, that’s not the case but I wouldn’t put it past him.

For those of you who don’t know, this season was originally supposed to be 23 episodes like before. And the middle season arc after Red Death was supposed to focus on a storyline between Allegra and Chester.
Yeah I’m not kidding… Remember that cliffhanger where Chester’s computer was getting hacked. That was setting up this planned storyline.
Obviously this would turn a lot of people off, since both characters are very unlikable. But Eric clearly doesn’t listen to the fans 🙄.
Tf? And when did Chester's computer get hacked? Episode 11?
I do not know where you got 23 for. Grant signed on for 15 and that was cut to 13 by the CW.

What's weird about the Chester & Allegra chats with Cecile about overcoming her doubts about being a good mother to Jenna/baby mama to Joe is the fact that neither of them are parents!
Cecile has a daughter in college (well by Season 9, I wager that girl would've been out of school and in the working world), but now she wants to play hero while she has another daughter in the developmental years of her life! It'd be different if Jenna was already in her late teens and becoming her own person. Cecile just wants to go around reading people's emotions instead of being a mother!!!
She looks completely irresponsible and it's stupid that she takes advice from those childless members of Team Flash...
This character made me dislike its actress... I know it is wrong. But i can’t help it. Cecilia or virtue is incredibly annoying and frustrating to watch

Speaking of Cecile's other daughter, when was the last time she was even mentioned? I think she only ever appeared once, and that was it.

The thing is, arrow had 10 episodes for its final season. So you'd think, or at least I did that the flash having 3 extra episodes would be able to finish as good but nope, quite the opposite.
No that just cause they have the wrong person in the chair to approve these episodes I would have still had it but instead have it where iris from her earth died by her hand but believed that it was flash fault leaving her to have a connection from her basically do what zoom did but have that connection with iris to try and get close to her to form a connection but also still try and kill the flash hiring the Rogues but have them be beaten by flash but when he takes down the last one get sneaked attack by red death but have her be like how batman does things have them be in the shadows but kills the Rogues that failed her and have her planned to kill every rogue in Central city leaving barry wanting to protect them and try to in a way recreate what red death thought led to iris death but had iris put together the clues that it was her that did it and put together that she isn't the real ryan but the real one was missing and kidnapped by red death having the Rogues we saw rescue Ryan and help figure a way to stop her all together creating that speed dampened made by Cisco who has had experience with speedster and have ryan use it to stop red death with ryan and flash team up have red death be beaten twice once by the flash and lose hand to hand by the real batwoman.
Ill never forgive them for massacring my boys zoom and savitar like that in the finale, shit even Thawne was lame got defeated by alegra

The fact these characters gave Flash a hard time in the earlier seasons just to get beaten so easily by side characters in this later season is ridiculous
You can tell that eric wallace and the writers wanted to get it over with by having flash's past enemies to lose too quickly which is stupid
I agree, if they were gonna lose too quickly (no pun intended) then they should’ve all lost to Barry and only Barry to show how powerful he has become

Eric Wallace's several no of crimes:
-Caitlin dies to get replaced by a so called goddess whose powers were never clearly explained, then team goes partying.
-Team votes who to bring back out of Caitlin and frost which cisco would never have done
-Out of no where batwoman appears after being told ryan disappeared and just somehow knows some arrowverse characters we never see her interact with.
-0 chemistry unneeded romance of chester and allegra.
-Cringy one liners by red death and side characters.
-3 pure trash fillers in final season when we could have stargirl/supergirl/ superman or anyone crossovering.
-Iconic Speedster villains ruined in the finale.
-Worst character cecile could fly out of nowhere and beat a force of nature itself and an army of godspeeds.
-Flash gets his ass beat half the time, barely appears in the final season and defeats cobalt blue using speech force.
-A speedster can steal any other speedster's speed now, no matter if the forces are opposite.
-There is no raw fighting, but light sabers, throwing lightning half the time and such shit.

i always thought the red death stuff wouldve been a million times more interesting if he had olivers face. For example, stephen amell plays bruce wayne on another earth. so even though its not oliver queen, barry would still be conflicted trying to stop someone that looks like his friend. like when red death shows up on that earth, he could use that to his advantage knowing someone on that earth looks like him. Idk it sounds stupid but i feel it'd add more depth since no one even cared about batwoman. Hell, i didnt even know who she was when she took off her mask because i didnt follow the batwoman show lol also itd just be bonus points if they kept the same backstory from the comics
That brilliant because even Stephen was always looked at as the batman and I think he be a perfect batman but that's a good idea where he is from another earth. It's fans like you that really makes me wish you was showrunning the show
Exactly- batwoman's like useless- and this isn't about powers, it's about character- we don't know anything about her, she has had no connection with Barry in any way possible, on the other hand, Oliver and Barry are almost brothers- so it would be so much better if Red Death was Oliver
But we have confirmation that Batman does exist. Green Arrow is not Batman.

Red Death would have been fine if the acting wasn't horrible. The acting took me right out of the character. Red Death doesn't have a lot of comic history. It's literally just Batman fused with the Flash in the comics has 1 solo origin comic and is beaten easily in Dark Knights Metal. So they could have fused Barry with any hero in the Arrowverse and it would have worked. Oliver Queen included, since they could have played with the idea of Ollie returning from the dead. And gotten better acting...
I can't help but feel dumb for actually hoping that the creators would put effort into this season.
Really disappointed in the final season. Flash deserved better, just like Arrow’s final season.
Here’s what I would’ve done for the season. For the Rogue War graphic novel I would’ve done one of two things. Had Red Death been played by Warren Christie who’s the Batman of earth prime and say it was the earth prime Bruce Wayne who the negative forces (not the negative speed force because it planned for Eddie) plucked from time to do what they did to Thawne in season 8 but to Batman which explains where he was all this time after going missing since before Batwoman began. Wallace Day and Javicia Leslie would reprise their roles as Kate and Ryan with them teaming up with Barry. The arc would focus solely on Red Death and no rogues. It would end with Bruce being freed from the negative forces and returning to Gotham with Kate and Ryan and the arc would be titled Mask of the Red Death. If this wasn’t possible due to WB not allowing Batman even though he wouldn’t be Batman then Red Death would be cut entirely. Instead the Rogue War graphic novel would feature the Captain Boomerang we saw, the season 1 Rainbow Raider we saw, Weather Wizard, Murmur, Golden Glider from earth prime with their leader being Captain Cold from another earth (Wentworth Miller would play him) who was banished by the flash of his earth wanting revenge. Golden Glider would join him because she wouldn’t know what happened to her brother and that he died a hero. These rouges would’ve been the villains. Khione would’ve been cut entirely and instead the machine gave Caitlin similar powers to Khione and she that it unlocked the life force and was the life force avatar. Caitlin wouldn’t be as powerful as Khione but would’ve had some decent powers. Episodes 6-8 would be cut entirely, episode 9 would happen no different but instead would be episode 6. After that episode Barry and Wally travel the new multiverse with the knowledge Oliver gave them and end up on earth 2 for a crossover with Stargirl for 2 episodes, Jay Garrick would be with them which would clear up and pay off that tease from the end of Stargirl. Episode 9 would begin the New World graphic novel. Eddie would be Cobalt Blue for the last 2 episodes with blue lightning and the old speedster villains we saw would be in episodes 12 & 13 but Barry would defeat them. The final fight against Cobalt Blue would be in a different location but would’ve ended the same with Eddie destroying the crystal and staying the negative speedforce avatar as Barry’s partner. But with the whole timeline shattering thing during Cobalt Blue’s reign, Barry would feel something wrong and would know what he had to do, he would throw a bolt of lightning into the past and we don’t know where it went until the last scene of the show with Barry’s narration we see that the lighting he threw struck himself which is what gave him powers. This is what my season 9 would’ve been

Its really sad that the fans can just causally come up with something better than the writers who are PAID to do it.

Barry and him accidentally time travel back to 2014 and through this.... they bring back the negative speed force and the night of the particle accelerator, it finds Eddie and strikes him like Barry

I’m so happy you brought up the consistent flashbacks to really recent episodes throughout this season. It was also a substantial problem in season 8. Every time one appears it feels like the show is insulting the intelligence of its audience which makes it feel somewhat unpleasant to watch.
(Edit) That being said, however, I thought that the short flashbacks pertaining to Eddie and his blue roses and blues song worked quite well because it represented him regaining his memories whilst also emphasising the influence the blue crystal has over him.
This show is actually good without Cecile, Chester, Allegra, chillbaine, and Kihihone. Let that sink in that Iris became redeemed.
Maybe they purposefully created horrible characters to offset the Iris hate
@@Arthaslk67 That was the actor's choice. They needed someone in comms. Sometimes DC Fans make no sense. If Cisco was leaving, I rather they turned this into a family show, than a Superhero show like Superman and Lois. He was barely in the cape in S3.

Man, we really were blessed with the 8th season of Arrow. While the show might've had it's flaws and may or may not age well, it knew how to respect its audience. Every episode being a tribute to a previous season and storyline, bringing everything together with Oliver being front and center of the story was genious. The bar was set, all the Flash had to do was to follow through and it could've gone out with a bang, rather than limping its way to the end.
the thing that confuse me the most: This season had 3-4 filler episodes. The writers claimed that had they had more episodes, they would have given a proper ending to the Legends of Tomorrow. My question is: why did they do 3 filler episodes instead of using those 3 episodes to save the legends?
Like, we could have had:
- episode 1-5: Red Death ( which was crap)
- episode 6-8: Final Crossover with the Legends of Tomorrow
- episode 9: Farewell to Oliver
- episode 10-13: Cobalt Blue
Simply put: Budget
Nah Legends is an easy two-parter.
- episode 1-5 Red Death
- episode 6-7 Legends
- episode 8 Arrow
- episode 9-13 Cobalt Blue

This season has confirmed for me that it’s not the writers fault and that they were either suffering from impossible deadlines from the CW or were forced to focus on characters that Eric Wallace likes. Or both🤷🏽♂️

BL, I don't think Rick Cosnett is really at fault here, since his past appearances after S1, as recent as in S8 felt like normal Eddie, its definitely the way he is written in an emotionless way that makes him feel like a different character.
I watched like half an episode and he didn't feel like Eddie. I'm not sure if he was meant to though. Eddies actor looked like he's lost some mass aswell. That being said he was in incredible shape in s1.
It's gotta be a combo of bad writing and direction.

Yea.... but HOW were they going to screw it up? The result : five episodes of Red Tantrum, three episodes of nothing happening and one episode of fan service.... one episode of the beginning and three episodes of nothing happening.... so yea they screwed it up this way
Honestly, I tot having 13 episodes would give us a single nicely paced story arc without all the bullshit fillers and unnecessary screen time to characters we don't care about, yet somehow they managed to do the exact opposite :)))
Thing is 13 episodes would’ve been great for a focused, tightly written high budget season of the flash.
I thought the same way about Arrow's final season - but at least that did him some justice before Crisis. This season just felt like too many things needing to happen in too short of a time :/
I thought giving this season 13 episodes would’ve tightened things up and given us a short, succinct season. But like always, they tried to cram way too much bullshit into an already short season.
The biggest problem is that S9 tried to do way too much with way too little (Filler episodes definitely didn't help with this).
They would've done better by focusing on one story arc throughout the entire season. Cobalt Blue should've been the main problem for S9, instead of that mess of a Red Death arc.
The Khione story should've been scrapped. They should've brought back Caitlyn some other way.
The side characters shouldn't have been the main focus either.
Then there's the Blue bringing back evil speedsters to fight Flash. This was a cool idea that was wasted by having Team Flash defeat them.
It should've been Barry vs the evil speedsters, with a more experienced (and more powerful) Flash soloing all of them by himself.
They could've made it seem like Flash was losing to all of them(until we realize that he was holding back the whole time).
Oh mate imagine it being like Spider-Man vs the sinister 6 where the flash wipes the floor with speedsters villains because Barry is at his peak

If only they could've had at least a satisfying comeback with the final season. I remember not liking Smallville season 7 onward, but Season 10 was wonderful. It was such a good send off.

Cobalt blue arc could have been focus of 10 episodes with rest 3 episodes crossing over with legends, arrow and supergirl

When the Flash Ended I knew Season 9 was the Worst in the Series and Now not only do I stranded and meant it,The More I Think about the Worst it Gets,It Felt Rushed and Disappointing that I wouldn’t be Surprised if they did it on Purpose before the Flash Movie came out,they needed to Celebrate the Series and the Arrowverse by Bringing Back Cisco,Ralph,Wally,Harry,Jesse,the OG Rogues,the Legends,Supergirl,and the Rival and all we got is the Main Character being Weak that needed to be Saved,Not Doing Any Real Fights by saying “I’m Not Gonna Fight You” Crap,Making the Horrible Supporting Cast the Most Important Things in the Series that it might be called Eric Wallace’s Team Flash or the Cecile Drama Show,Khione is a Parasite in the Finale,Red Death is Wasted by having Comic Book Godspeed’s Motivation done Worse and Making No Sense with Grood,Cobalt Blue and the Evil Speedsters are Done so Dirty,the Filler Episodes are a Mistake that we could’ve gotten a Legends Farewell Special and Set Up the Next Generation of Speedsters,and While it has Good Things like Episodes 9 and 10 but it doesn’t Save Eric Wallace to make an Awful Season with Half of the Budget was wasted on the Virtue Suit,Season 9 is what I Considered as the Reverse 9 Cat Lives from Last Wish.

The bad thing about speedster fights is that other things like the wind powers are barely used anymore
I personally believe speedster effects are a bit much after Season 4. Back then you never used to actually see the speedster running or the lightning looking like Strings being pulled around. . .it was perfect and nice to watch. Nowadays they make light sabers with lightning, throw around lightning and even make shields and panels with it. It makes no sense

Arrow’s final season had 3 less episodes, while also having 2 of those be the crossover and a test for a spin-off, yet it managed to have a way more complete and good content filled season than this season of the flash. It also gave way more satisfying conclusions to the side characters even though season 9 of the flash gave their own way more focus.

16:00 Legion of zoom is name of the group from comics that it is kind of based on but here it still doesn't make sense a bit
I feel like they could have done the season opener with the Arrow crossover, then just have the final season be about Colbalt Blue. It would given a lot more time to flesh out the story and CB and more time to see the other speedsters again.

Being ‘in love’ is being taken up by emotion, and falls flat compared to the simple act of ‘love’, where push comes to shove and you choose to love someone despite how you feel in any given moment. That’s the real deal. Love is a choice. It pissed me off that the show acted like ‘feeling enough love’ for someone is as good, if not better than, the real thing.

As someone who's new to the Arrowverse I have to ask how are the other arrowverse shows? How's Arrow or Supergirl or Legends of Tomorrow? Are those shows good for their entire run or do they have seasonal rot just like The Flash?

Zoom is my favorite lol 😂 but I agree with him tho this season was horrible especially the end where cobalt blue was defeated by the power of friendship

Can someone explain what happened to the red death? I finished the final season but like... Last i remember they made the cosmic treadmill explode by overloading it or something and that was it? Did i miss something? I don't remember that killing red death but after that it was like she literally just vanished into thin air?... Did she just decide to enjoy a Starbucks latte and live a normal life tf? What happened to her.

I was hoping for the finale fight they do Jay Garrick vs Zoom (pay back from Jay for that time Zoom imprisoned him), Wally West vs Savitar (pay back from Wally for when Savitar trapped him in the speed force+tried to kill his sister), have Mia Queen and Supergirl show up to help Barry fight Eobard Thawne similar to how Firestorm and Arrow showed up to help Barry beat Thawne in season 1. And idk, make the shitty side characters fight God Speed

You know why season 9 was bad. Because Eric forced us to sit through his fanfiction OC Red Death (Ryan only existed after Crisis and Hartley's firing), and the actress OBVIOUSLY couldn't play a villain.
Then the finale disrespected the villains and rather than pay tribute to past characters, went to introducing two previously established speedsters (nothing wrong with that) but also, a woke representation speedster.
Initially I said it wasn't the flash's job to wrap up other shows in the arrowverse. But after the awful red death story and inerlude episodes, they should have just wrapped up legends in a 3-parter
How would wrapping up Legends even pertain to Barry's character?

My idea for the final season would be to have the tenth episode as the first one but change it around slightly so they start by finding out that Iris is pregnant and Barry worrying if he would be a good dad. Then the episode goes on to be the same Barry being trapped in the past and so on. He then dissapears at the end of the episode.
We find out in episode 2 he's gone to earth 2 and has to team up with Harry to take down a rouge group of meta humans trying to avange Zoom calling themselves 'the legion of Zoom'.
I would carry on having each episode kind of callling back to a previous season e.g the ninth episode would then become the sixth (maybe tweek the episode a bit to make it work in this storyline). In the present we would have team Flash worring about Barry and another storyline between Mark and Catlin where the chamber malfunctions and Mark ends up with Ice powers but not the alterego.
The finale would still be Eddie vs Barry but in the end Eddie brings Barry into the negative speed force to bring him down have the realsiation he's becoming into the thing he's feared most Thawne (similar to Nora in Season 5 ). Barrry attempts to save Eddie but Eddie dies and the negative speed force takes Barry to the future where he saves a crowd in trouble and there's a shot of a speester running off but the lighting being a mix of yellow and red. Barry is then taken back to the future where Nora is finally born.

We deserved so much better
As someone who loved the Flash, it really sucks that this was the season the show ended on. With the lackluster last few seasons and it being the end of the show, you would think that the writers and showrunners would put their all into this final season, yet it felt as though no effort was put into the season whatsoever. Its sad to see that this show got to have "closure" but Legends of Tomorrow, a significantly better show (in my opinion), did not get to finish their story! I felt a lot more of an emotional connection to each character in Legends than all the Flash characters combined (except for maybe Barry, Captain West and Iris). I hope that one day we will get to finish the Legends' story, whether that be a movie or final season because they deserve to get a real ending!
The one problem I've had with this show from the start, is non speedsters having the reaction time to react to speedsters and even somehow catch speedsters off guard.
My biggest problem was Barry getting caught off guard for one second, and the villain escapes. It’s like they purposely wrote his character to rely on his team, rather than beating the villain by himself
So sad this show ended on such a whimper (or, given the season length, half a whimper). I had no appreciation for Eddie being a villain at the end as I was already sick of seeing reverse-flash popping up in every single season... I couldn't even keep up with all the BS explanations for why he kept coming back. It also got so frustrating watching Barry constantly forget he's the fastest man alive. Every season I'm literally yelling out "just stop them! Stop them now!" at the screen while I watch Barry stupidly standing there while the bad guys activate their powers. Even in the season 9 premiere why isn't Barry just instantly taking away the boomerangs when Captain Boomerang opens up his coat to show them off? Yet bad guys are always allowed to get the drop on him and he somehow can't find people who get away with maybe a 5-10 second lead on him (even if he doesn't know where they went, he can literally search the entire city in seconds). One of the reasons I appreciated guys like the pre-Crisis Snart and the Thinker is you've at least got bad guys here who can try and use their brains to figure out how to overcome a person that can react quicker than they can in every situation. I started watching this show with my wife from S1E1 but her enjoyment went down every season and I couldn't even get her to watch season 9.
I will always complain in every review about season 9 about the ending 😭 there is no way they got away with disrespecting those speedsters the way they did. There should have been one episode dedicated to one fight of the spider. Thaws should have outsmarted cobalt blue and ended up being the big bad of the season once again. And Red Death should have maybe played a more central role to the final. Idc what they did out Iris and the baby in danger. Give the viewer a sense of danger, kill of some characters to show the danger. Chuck could have died and I wouldn’t have batted an eye to Elegra getting a wild power up cuz of a rage amp. But what made the least amount of sense was Cecil getting all these last second powers, Godspeed should have smoked her. Every episode dedicated to speedster fight not all the heroes should have one. Chuck should have died Elegra and Cecil should have been severely injured, Nora could have defeated Savitar but with some injuries. I can go on but I ranted enough. That Arrow episode tho idk if it’s because of Nostalgia but I loved it and how dare you give dreamer a 2/10 😂😂 but I get it more could have been done Dreamer is one of my favourites so when she popped up I was highly excited but the episode itself disappointed me
If the dreamer episode was supposed to be a final crossover with Supergirl then why couldn't we have seen the only character who mattered, Supergirl herself?

OK in defense if the Cobalt blue ark, everything with Barry or with Eddie is pretty great, the side character arks are bad, but not the worst in the show, except mabey cicile in 9x12. And while the side character taking out the speedsters they do kinda make scenes, godspeed was taken out by Cicle who has been shown to be insanely powerful, and also its godspeed who really cares about the show version if him, savatar was taken out by a speedster, zoom was taken out by a God, and the only one not making scense is thawn, but it's still kinda less embarrassing as being taken out by barry sitting down in s8
I love how the final moment of the arrowverse is Flash putting 3 strangers into a 9 months coma.

3. We have to listen Joe and his boring pep talks and nearly pisssing his pants
4. Iris - me, me, and more me
5. Barry finds Iris

7. Barry wins and reflects how he nearly died in every episode
8. Family has a meal or a drink to celebrate
9. Joe cries, then cries some more and then repeatedly pisses his pants again.
Absolutely shite. The seaon finale was so poor is was pathetic. It should have ended with Barry killing the reverse flash and dumping Iris and divorcing Joe.😮
In my opinion, Season 9 should have ended with the first episode of A New World- that's the perfect ending in my opinion, because it's where Barry's development into a superhero began- his powers just gave him the ability to save humanity in another way- but from his parents' death onwards, his story truly started
