As much as you can praise Carlsen, Vachier really held his ground until the end. Throughout the game, he was not at all a losing position, but alas, made a blunder keeping the king & rook in the same coloured square, I believe due to time-panic.
K and Q on same coloured squares is no more dangerous than on different coloured squares. For example White K on h1, White R on f6 and Black Q on h4 would be just a certainly a win for Black. It's surprisingly hard to win with QvR and yes, MVL played a really good game.
@@Black-gk8um 10:03 move is primarily a check move, so unless he can block the check by moving the rook, he can't do that. He has to move the king, loses the rook in the next move. In chess terms, I think this is called a "fork", where attack is performed on more than one piece. Not a dumb question, btw. :)
7:20 best part

Endgame God magnus

WOW GREAT GAME
minuto 5:22 hay mate en una jugada con torre increíble que no se haya visto
Peón D4.
Yes ,5.23 black miss the checkmate
No !!! pierde la torre !! El peon se la come. El GM frrances jugo bien.
Fabulous carlsen
4:36 bishop d4 and black in good position
What a GM! I think black could even win if he figured out that move
When he sacrificed his rook, i'm like "WHAT?"
. C a r l s e n ; - f ' a 1 / +
if he hadn’t sacrificed any of the guy’s parts, he could be promoted.
God
A Monsters of chess
Magnus es una máquina de hacer ajedrez...
Maxime is the good player here. He took the risks and atacked with black, against the world champion, sacrificing the quality on e3.
My idol is magnus carlsen good luck
simply...Wawwwwww
Carlsen is The King of the king?
Magnus é monstro!!!
Umu.
Carlsen pro
first vs second in the world
sweeet!
Both guys genius!
Not sure why he chose that white square at the end, why not the dark square?
becoz the story will be the same, queen just need to check at rank 1 file, and queen need to go back to h file.
9:01 someone murmuring
Magnus 🐐
11:30 not finished at that spot
what happens when someone tries hard to get the opponent to flag though he has plenty of time to work with himself
Magnus is so good, i don’t get it!
they don't call Magnus the endgame god for nothing
...
Why did he moved to white square at last, if he put in black square it would be a draw
If he moves to black square it cames Qb1 and then Qa2, he was already lost
5.23 black miss the check mate
no
Somebody please enlighten me. Who won, or did Magnus give up due to time?
Magnus Carlsen won. At 10:03, black loses its rook & check mate by white is inevitable.
@@spikendq sorry for this dumb question but can he just move the rook so it's not captured?
