Thanks for the info on this product. Just ordered one and looking forward to not having to plug in the phone every time I take a drive!!!!
Just installed this in my car and it was really easy would highly recommend fitted within about a minute.
Does it work wither a afermarket unit? or does the car need to have Apple Carplay by deafault to use it?
Can you use RUclips / Netflix?
Worth the convenience. Nice review, thanks
Did you try this with Waze over any distance? Every Carlinkit I've used previous would lag and eventually restart while using Waze.
I have a 2019 Impala premier. I bought the 4.0 and when I plug in the device for set up nothing appears on the car monitor after the red light turns on, on the device. Any ideas please?
Hi there,
using the mini 3 , When you press the car icon the carplay should be hidden. that's look like some kind of major bug in the system. were you able to get it fixed ?
1. i have a 2020 Benz C300 (without a touch screen function) but the carplay layout at my end is all over the screen. think its looks better then what you showed.
2. does it works smoothly after a while of using if you combine navigation & music ? i had the mini 3 and it getting significant lags after 5 min of use.
3. at the carlink completability video they say their system is not recommended if you do have a touch screen. i guess its because you need to send more information in by scrolling with the knob then simply pressing the screen - have you notice it?
Thanks.
Hi everyone!
Plesse need your help resolving issues with Carlink 4.0. My Mercedes 350gle 2015 connects easily with Carlink Apple carplay but doesn't with my Samsung Galaxy Fold 3.
When I connect with the Android the infotainment screen goes black and nothing happens.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I have a question i have a 2019 toyota rav4 hybrid le its doesn't come with android auto unless i get the Entune app from toyota but it does have the projection can this device work for my vehicle?if not is there another device you recommend?
Does this work with cars that don’t have factory CarPlay I have a Honda CRV touring 2016?
Thank you for the information well done
Why do you want to disconnect? You can tap the Home button in top-left corner to go to vehicle ICE's interface.
Dose this allow you to bypass the not being able to type while driving on android
I have the 4.0 that uses both Iphone & Android. It freezes when I'm using Apple car play. It takes maybe about 10-15 minutes & the screen freezes. If I'm playing music it keeps playing it, but the screen is non-responsive. I have a 2018 Lincoln Navigator with sync 3.
he’s it’s crap on my golf
Isn't Caplay full screen like when you connect to a wire? (Mercedes E Class).
I have a 2011 jeep grand Cherokee and only have auto play will this device work for my radio
Is there any delay in the sound, microphone or GPS?
How do you update the firmware?
It we’ll connect on rav4 2020?? And on iphone 14 pro max??
I have the amoral adaptor from Amazon, about £55. Works like a dream and hidden away in the centre console box
hi your car have not apple carplay and when you add this or similar device it works ?
Can you use RUclips / Netflix?
Hello is fitting on Audi a3 8v 2016?
Okay I have a 2014 Mercedes Benz GLK 350. I don’t have Apple car play at all. If I buy this will it work in my car
Will this work on a 2018 BMW 320I?
Hello, I am looking for a device so that i can i mirror my iphone screen to the dashboard of my vehicle while i run on off-line navigator on my iphone in a wireless way. Is it also possible to use the tactile dashboard of the car to send instructions to my iphone? Kr, Marc
My gf s21 ultra only works wired and very finicky. wireless does not connect. any tips?
Can you mirror your phone with this?
Thanks you for the video. Does this just turn carplay from wired to wireless to can this also change the non-carplay interface to a carplay interface too?
For this specific Carlinkit device, it’s just wired to wireless
@@TechRoundUp , thanks!
Is it impossible to view carplay in fullscreen even with carlinkit?
work it on in mercedes w205 2015 ???
What if there are two drivers? Can you pair two phones? What if at some point these two phones are in the car at the same time? Can you switch between them?
You sure it's streaming over Bluetooth and not via wifi Hotspot?
What if you have a 2015 monitor and it doesn’t have CarPlay?
Is it compatible with any car?
(Bmw 520d 2011)
The link that you provided to purchase this from is that the official website? Because I'm seeing that there is multiple websites for this product.
Good afternoon. I have 3 usb ports on my mercedes. the first one is like in your video and the other two are hidden in the armrest. This device only works with the first usb connector?
Correct, just the one port
How’s the audio lag?
Hi. If the car does not have CarPlay, is this piece useful by converting the radio screen to CarPlay?
This piece cannot do that. Only works if you already have wired carplay
No device will convert non carplay to carplay it needs to already installed from factory or purchase a aftermarket sterio if it can be installed in your car with built in car play
Can you connect an android phone but transmit apple car play to the the car? I am obviously asking for a car that has no android auto. I am not planning to buy an iphone just for that jeje.
No, iPhone is needed for CarPlay compatibility
Does this distort or lower the quality of the audio at all?? Also how long does it take to connect when you hop in your car everyday?
yes
I just received mine. I ordered because the darn port on the iPhone is very unstable and it's always connecting and disconnecting. Wish me luck
Get a toothpick or something and pick out all that pocket lint
How has it been so far?
@@GurtonBuster07 It works as described. It takes a bit of time to connect but so far I'm happy.
@@cwalton2973 is there a delay when switching songs?
@@N44876 Not that I noticed. There is just a delay when initially connecting.
Does the car radio have to have car play installed in the radio already? I’m currently on an android radio and with carlinkit wired. I bought the wireless one you have and it does not work.
Yes it had wired CarPlay, carlinkit has another version specific for android auto conversion
Bought this carlinkit 4.0 adaptor and can't get it to work on my 2020 Toyota 4Runner. I followed the easy simple steps, the green light comes on, I select the code on my iPhone bluetooth and it says "connected" on my phone, but on my vehicle screen it keeps saying "connecting" forever. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Maybe a setting on my 4Runner that isn't right??
Ever get it to work?
@@murlocmerc nope didn’t get either carlinkit 4.0 adaptor to kit to work. Not the one I bought from Amazon, which I returned and got full credit for, or the first I bought from who I thought was the original manufacturer, which turned out to be a distributor in NJ. I got an authorization from them to return it, which I did and I have proof they signed for it, but they refuse to give me credit as they say there was nothing wrong with it. And my cc company says it’s been over 60 days so I can no longer dispute the charge. So I’m out $90!!
hello there thanks for the video. maybe a noob question but if the existing system in my car doesn't have android auto can the carlinkit 4.0 enable display of the android auto on the screen of the car? thanks in advance
Not with this particular model, the vehicle needs CarPlay or android auto already built in
@@TechRoundUp understood thanks for the quick reply
@@TechRoundUp The website says the 4.0 converts Apple Carplay to Android Auto and Apple Carplay to Apple Carplay, while the 3.0 only does Apple Carplay and the 5.0 only does Apple Carplay to Apple Carplay and Android Auto to Android Auto.
@@TechRoundUp This is from the actual maker/seller on their website:
QUESTION: I bought a 2020 Toyota Avalon Limited that only has Carplay. The latest software update did not change that. We have Android phones. Does your 4.0 unit permit me to make Android work on the Avalon head unit?
Thanks a lot!
Mike
ANSWER: If your car has factory-wired carplay, at the same time, your phone is compatible (iPhone 6 and above, iOS 10 or above,Android 9.0 or above), then you can choose our Carlinkit 4.0 (Support wireless Carplay and Android), The product supports 98% of models which are with wired Apple Carplay and USB port.
Yes my 2011 jeep grand Cherokee just has android auto no carplay will this carlink work on my radio
This is only CarPlay, but they have an android version as well.
I bought one for my Jaguar and it works brilliantly I then bought one for a Mitsubishi L200 S5 Barbarian and it wont connect any thoughts
Usually the website will provide some sort of indication if a vehicle brand or specific model isn’t supported
Does it playing videos?
How is the audio quality with music? Any noticeable difference?
It is lower quality than just plugging in your phone
Can you use the touch screen in the car or do you have to select it on your phone?
my rav4 doesn't have AA. Will this convert Carplay to Android auto?
Hi, your vehicle must be able to use wired AA otherwise a wireless dongle will not work.
can you use Android device to connect? just curious. Thanks
Also supports android auto if the vehicle is equipped with it
Clue is in the title
Why does the device have both a usb-a input and usb-c input? Seems to be redundant for no reason. I understand having the two different cables because not every car is the same, but you can always plug a usb-c connector into the device.
I assume it's for pass-through charging Incase you need to charge your phone and only have a single USB port on your car.
your car have not carplay and when you use this box it works ? you mean ?
this or this tool just fix connection for good connection just
Will this work with the Android Auto map?
I have an aftermarket android screen, I hooked up the carlinkit 4.0 and it opens up tlink for pairing, I connect my iphone to the carlinkit bluetooth, it connects for a second and then disconnects immediatley, and then goes into an endless cycle of connect/disconnect with nothing happening.
Could be a rare case where the device isn’t compatible or perhaps a faulty unit. I would reach out to Carlinkit and get some support either way
@@TechRoundUp I’ve heard not so many great things about their customer service. Ill give it a try anyway.
Do this work if the device does not have factory carplay?
no. you need carplay for it to work. this is just a wireless dongle. it doesn’t add it to your vehicle
How do you get android auto if your car doesnt have it
You can look at my latest review of the carlinkit TBox Plus which allows you to convert CarPlay to android auto while also giving you an Android 12 experience
Is there a reason why it isn’t going full screen on your Mercedes?
That’s just how Mercedes handles CarPlay, even when wired it doesn’t go full screen in order to still interact with infotainment system
Does your car have to be equipt with CarPlay to utilize this device?
Yeah
My car has wireless apple car play option, but I actually use it wired. Better sound and you don’t forget to charge your phone as i did many many times 🤓
but with wireless you can leave your phone in your pocket :)
You get a magnetic charger if you can!
I got mine today plugged it in and nithing ahowed on my screen (tuscan 2022) and i have car play and helo
Try changing the screen resolution from auto. That for me got over that problem. I'm just battling all the rest of the faults now - good luck
Csn you watch RUclips and Netflix?
Can you watch RUclips on the screen or Netflix while parked
No.
@@roymelendez8661 do you have a link to 1
I have an Android Phone. My vehicle doesn't have Android Auto, just Apple Car Play. Will this give me Android Auto?
Do you need to have android auto to your car for this to work?
No, just Apple Carplay in the car is all you need.
Just wondering why you only used your phone to scroll around the screen in the demo? Once installed use either your cars controls or the touch screen of the car - no need to touch your phone and in the UK it’s illegal once your car is started anyhow.
The Mercedes has a trackpad on the console, to navigate the screen/menus. that seems to be what he is using rather than his phone. In the opening scene it’s a little more clear (black pad right in the center and you can see him holding his phone in left hand and navigating with the trackpad with his right hand.
@@cspill101Got it thanks. Didn’t realise that was what he was using. I had to play the video again 😊 and even at around 3:30 into the video it looks like a phone on top of the centre console but I now know its not. Thanks again for your explanation.
@@davidct2406 I did the same double take. That trackpad at quick glance looks like my old Samsung phone with the back arrow buttons lol
Have you tried RUclips, Netflix, or Disney on the device?
Can you use Netflix, hulu or live TV apps while driving when using this carlink it 4.0 ?!?
Use them at home, not while you’re driving
Lame ☝️
Carlink doesn’t have yt Netflix??
Will this affect the car's battery if u leave it plugged?
Extremely low power consumption even if the usb port provides power will accessory power is off
Most vehicles don’t provide power to the USB ports after the ignition is shut off. You can test this by plugging in your phone to the usb port and shutoff the car. If the phone stops charging, then you have nothing to worry about.
It is not in full screen 😮
Can you watch RUclips with this setup?
I bought this product, navigation and music control delay is terrible. And I wonder why people don’t review this device while they’re driving to showcase navigation and other controls’ responsiveness, which is not acceptable for me. I will go back to use my cable and return this to seller.
Can i drive and to watch a RUclips do you know anybody's work
Wish they would do one that also has wireless charging.. as seems to defeat the purpose if you need to plug phone in to charge🤔.
i would use a Aftermarket wireless charging pad so you can lay the phone on the charging pad while it’s running wireless CarPlay🤷🏻♂️
At this point the app as frustrated me to where I'll accept any change so long as it fucking connects and works
music stutter sometimes on carlinkit 4.0.. Not liked, this not hapness on carlinkit tbox!
Bro acting like the freezing screen is not a big deal. 😂
Bruh, what's the point of the wireless here if I have to unplug/plug every time I want to use the build in OS...
Things like this HAVE to be smooth and convenient. That's a big issue.
I don't get how buying a slow, buggy intermediary that you have to fiddle with, plug and unplug randomly, and which doesn't charge your phone is better than just getting in your vehicle, plugging in the phone to the already connected cable, which connects flawlessly to the head unit and brings up AA or CarPlay immediately. If you want wireless buy a car with a proper wireless implementation and wireless Qi charging built in. All of these chinesium dongles are soon-to-be landfill.
This can convert wired carplay to wireless android Auto. For people with cars that only support carplay. But don't have apple devices
Also This device doesn't need to charge your phone you can charge your phone however you want.
The latency it has make me not want one ☝️ 😢
Mine boots up pretty quick. By the time I’ve put my seat belt and glasses on 😅 and reversed off the drive, it’s working. Not noticed any lag from wired using music or maps and it connects every time, unlike the cable which sometimes didn’t make a connection because of a bit of fluff or dust in the lightning port.
@@davidct2406 no lag when pausing music or skipping tracks?
@@N44876 No not really. Maybe a second or so sometimes if I’ve paused the music but I generally use playlists of around sixty tracks on shuffle (which is effectively skipping tracks) and not noticed any lag there. I used to just turn on the ignition and let it boot up then start the car but found that sometimes that process made the Carlink want to start the boot up process all over again. So now I just start the car and as I mentioned previously by the time I’m off the drive its up and running. Hope that helps.
omg i can't live with 1 second delay, your life sucks brow
@@dudu43ss Sad
Guess this video is sponsored by Carlink. Like many I found this needed an excessive amount of tech knowledge to get working. Eventually cracked it (3 days later) after zero help from Carlink.
Could you give me a brief rundown on what you had to do to get it working. I'm tearing my hair out trying different things
@@1iveOnEvi1 I've set the video resolution to 1280 (but you may need different), fps is set to 20 at the moment and I have set dpi to 260 (to get rid of the useless split screen).
Looks right now but start up either works or more likely flickers and when it does the touch screen is dead. Heaven knows what else needs to be set on the damn thing so it is highly likely being returned as their support hasn't even read the messages I've sent them.
What a pile of....
Cheers mate. Will see how it goes. Thanks for the reply 👍
@@BigMole543 I rolled it back twice and it started working perfectly for me, if you want me to grab the version number its running let me know just in case it works for you too.
@@1iveOnEvi1 Thats interesting - yes please although I have decided to return it to Amazon as although I do now have it 'working' its far from perect as you need to toggle to the radio and back to 'carplay' to get the touch screen to work unless its a 'lucky boot'. I've just ordered the Motorola MPA1 s to see what that is like. But would be good to solve the problem before I send it on its way (lack of support means this is no no for me to keep as next AA update could break it)!
The sceptic in me thinks RUclips influencers are possibly given a 'personalised device' to do the review...
No youtube ?
This is really ridiculous that apple has not come out with their own device or good carplay interfaces havent been made it should be this difficult still

You said zero latency when I CAN SEE THE DELAY AS YOU SCROLL. WHY ARE YOU LYING BRO
Zero latency difference compared to wired is what I said …
@@TechRoundUp I'm sorry you probably have to deal with people like this all the time in your comment section
Didn’t notice much latency. I think it was quite acceptable.
Lags as hell
