Hi Costel, first, thanks a lot for doing this! I've just tried with my 2019 Corolla but unfortunately it didn't work. The model is 17TDT2EU-DA01. I got first the Error 001 message and proceeded to use your fix, the software was updated sucessfully because the Audio version changed (was 1011 and now is 1020), but nothing happens when I connect an Android phone. I've tried with a Xiaomi Rednote 10 and a Samsung Galaxy Note 20, both with original cables. On Sources, the USB option is disabled, I can't select it. Looking back at the video again, when you show that after the update in the software information is saying it's an open source one, on mine nothing changes, it's still the same as before. Found another person commented that his Audio was upgraded from 1020 to 1023, mine is still 1020 after the update... Any ideas please? Thanks.
Hello Costel ! I have the same problem that @ozkneto, my car is a Toyota Corolla 2020 with a Panasonic UNIT 17TDT2EU-DA02. In first, I've got the 001 ERROR and I'd fixed it with your message, after that, the upgrade was a success with a blue screen, I restarted it and I tested it and it's not working actually, with any type of phones, I tried iPhones and Androids but the system don't recognized it and the CarPlay/Android Auto don't start. The system upgrade seems to be installed successfully because Audio version is now 1020v... Do you have any solutions for us ? Thank you!

I initially used a multiple downloader and decompressing of files failed. Don't use multiple downloaders, use only regular download function of your browser. I plugged USB flash and started engine. Hi Costel, I tried this today on my 2019 rav4 hybrid with navigation. DCU MODEL: 17TDT2EU-DA01. I prepared everything on 32GB USB. My starting Audio version was 1000. I inserted USB and update started. After 10 min it failed with error and red screen. I rebooted and everything was back to normal. Only thing i noticed is that my audio version was updated now to 1020. Nothing changed except it seems that infotainment works a little bit faster and boots a little bit faster, but unfortunately no android auto. I dont know is there something else i could try? Thanks for effort and help.
unfortunately I do not have an aswer to it mate. To some people worked and to some not. I guess is all about prepping the USB. I had mine prepped on a MacBook pro (windows would not format Fat32 on partitions larger than 32GB and the one I used was 64GB) it worked on my video. I did for someone as well a copy of mine, and I used the method showed in the video, and worked as well on his car. I guess you should try a different USB or retracing the steps. Remember, copy on the USB ROOT not on a folder.
Thanks for sharing dear friend. I am from Israel and I have a Toyota Rav4 2019 with a model exactly like in the video. The installation is really simple and fast, from the moment I inserted the USB within ten minutes the installation was done and the Carplay works great. Thank you very much!

Info on upgrading the Unit with NAVIGATION: Hi. Thanks for upload. Installed it according to your instructions and it works. Sometimes I need to "activate" phone for Carunit to recognize AndroidAuto (but usualy detects it on its own). This means I have to touch phone screen or push one of buttons on the phone. I connect through cable. As for people asking regarding Unit with navigation. I installed it on RAV4 Hybrid MY2019 (one of the first of new models in country as it was showroom model) with Touch2Go + NAVI. Therefore I can confirm it works with the unit that is originaly shipped with navigation. After update all maps remained and I can still use "original" navigation if needed. Must say, that I didn't upgrade maps since end of 2022 when initial 3 year subscription expired. Thank you so much for posting this and offering the advice. I have tried and failed however! Copied the files to a USB as explained. For those which are wondering about the 3 USB sticks: as can be seen in the video, Costel's Toyota was without nav so it needed only one USB (the 3rd one)! hi there. I am not sure about this unit as the firmware is for the Denso/Fujitsu one. You can try and see what is the outcome, like checking if even recognizes the update from your radio settings. it might work, or not. Info on upgrading the Unit with NAVIGATION:
Hi. Salut si multe multumiri lui Costel. Am facut si eu update-ul la o unitate fara navigatie cu cod 17TDT1EU-DAO1 ( Toyota Corolla 2019), versiune soft audio 1000. Am folosit doar stick 2 si 3. Hi I got the same 2019 Corolla just wondering do I have to download some kind of software on the USB before plugging into the to update the software of the car Thanks
@afaqahmad5890
Hi, I bought a set of 3x32g USB flash drive from Amazon.
Downloaded 3 zip files. Unzip these files then copy to your USB flash drive respectively.
Note: Must read the PDF instruction so that you know number of files and sizes of each disk.
First I plug disk 1, no response after checking update.
Then I moved onto disk 2. Once update being detected, answer to YES. It took seems 20 minutes if I remember correctly.
Finally go to disc 3, it will take much longer time, 30 to 45 minutes maybe. It need reboot many times to a moment I'm worrying the update is successful or not. After the welcome screen showed up, my worries were gone 😅
Sorry for my poor English, hope you success!
@@louieyc hi thanks for your help I just downloaded all three files but when I clicked on them to unzip them they asked for a password do you where can I get the password thanks in advance
@afaqahmad5890
go back to this video clip's owner's description. Mr. Costel already mentioned the password.
Click the link on his point 2, read the PDF file.
For those which are wondering about the 3 USB sticks: as can be seen in the video, Costel's Toyota was without nav so it needed only one USB (the 3rd one)!
My 2019 RAV4 (17TDT2EU-DA02) is with nav, so I needed all 3 USBs (links and usage order is specified in BE_00439T_TME pdf: sticks 1-2-1-3-2).
Whole retrofit upgrade procedure took 1.5h so be very patient: don't turn off or disconnect unless instructed to do so!
Original versions vs final versions:
DCU = 17TDT2EU-DA02 -> 17TDT2EU-DA30
MEU = 17TMT2EU-FA00 -> 17TMT2EU-FA10
Audio = 1000 -> 1075
Nav = 1512 -> 1120
Note: after all these, I also used a 4th USB with only 17TMT2EU-FA10_1170.kwi and 17TDT2EU-DA30_0076.kwi (17TMT2EU-FA10_latest zip and 17TDT2EU-DA30_latest zip from toyota-motor-europe) which did an additional final upgrade:
DCU = 17TDT2EU-DA30
MEU = 17TMT2EU-FA10
Audio = 1075 -> 1170
Nav = 1120 -> 1170
In the end, there is an excellent Android Auto connection: both Google Maps or Nokia/Here Maps work excellent and navigation indications are also shown on the digital speedometer (same way as the original Toyota maps did).
This is an amazing description mate.
Hope it will be useful as well to others!!!

Hi there. It will most likely work if the model you have is listed within the description.

Good afternoon, I tried to update,
there was a version
DCU: 17TDT2EU-DA02
- MEU: 17TMT2EU-FA00
the most I got
DCU: 17TDT2EU-DA02
- MEU: 17TMT2EU-FA10
Only the MEU module was updated
Tell me how to update the DCU module?
Have you checked if the CarPlay or AA is working?
Else I cannot exactly know what happened.
See through comments if there was someone with similar specs that got it done.

For those of you that had errors or failed updates I added the link to the step by step instructions and missing USB's (1,2,3) in the video description. Check it out and good luck!
When I install usb3 I got stuck on line: 069 DCU vup completed. I used USB 32 with Fat32. Model 17TDT2EU-DA01. Any ideas?
Retrace your steps for your car model. Make sure your usb is formatted accordingly
Will this work on Uk 2019 Corolla. It’s Panasonic version the update is cheap to get from Toyota dealer but they say your maps is old you must update to latest maps then we can update to activate car play. Is this true ? The map updates are quite expensive. Thanks
hi there. I am not sure about this unit as the firmware is for the Denso/Fujitsu one. You can try and see what is the outcome, like checking if even recognizes the update from your radio settings. it might work, or not. The good thing is that it should not affect your existing configuration as this is just an AUDIO module update. Either way, do it at your one consideration and responsibility.
I just want to thank you for your video about this firmware update, I made it just as you did and everything is perfect!
thank you again!
Glad it helped!!!

Hi, did you manage to revert to the old software? Was the rollback successful?
@@pluramaks without any issues for this But do you have ideas?
I will try to do it in about 2 weeks when I return from vacation. I have a 2019 Prius. I will let you know if I succeed. Maybe I'll record a detailed video of the process and post it.
Not sure you can rewind yourself to the old firmware, but no need to do that. My guess I would try once more redoing the process with a different usb. As long as your audio module gets updated then CarPlay and AA will work. I tried myself on multiple cars and all worked flawlessly. The whole process takes about 7 min, then it asks to turn off the car, you turn it back on and that’s pretty much it
@@CostelTarata tested with different usb sticks, not working :(
Thanks for the guide. I downloaded extracted and formatted the drive to FAT32 but when I plug in to the Rav4 it does nothing not even recognize the USB. Any suggestions? FYI the USB works fine with my iphone plugged in so it appears to be working ok
Did you unzip it and put the files at the root of the USB drive?
@@martinmcwhorter I did, which is why I am confused as to why it won't recognise the USB update
Make sure to properly format the drive and copy paste or extract all files on the root of the drive, do not select only your firmware version
Hi, I have the model 17TDT1EU-CA31 1422. I think it's newer, but it does not come with Apple CarPlay, and I can't find an update on the web. Do you know anything about it? Thank you for sharing the information.

Hi There, i just purchased a preowned Rav4. The model ID on my Head Unit is 17TDTZA-CA01. what i want to know is would this update be compatible for South Africa?
Hi there,
In all honesty it was proven to work only for European models with no Active navigation. Some people made it work even there.
Whether it will or not work on your car, you could try and see. Nothing bad will happen happen to the car either way.
Do it and let us know, for the others from South Africa to know.
Did you ever get around to trying this update? I have the same model head unit.
@@meta-verse unfortunatelly no, but you could try following the steps and see if the unit will recognize the update or not.
@@CostelTarata tried it. It said update is not compatible. If you happen to find the update for 17TDTZA-CA01, please update us. I’ve been searching everywhere online and no luck. My dealer here in Trinidad are no help whatsoever
I live in Canada will the update be the same for the Toyota RAV4 2019 model in Canada also if is only for European models only.
This is For Eu models only. However I recommend downloading the correct file from Toyota.com, select your model and download from there. In Europe is not for free.
i have 2019 corolla hybrid - 17TDT1EU-DA01 but it doest work for me in uk

Hi, is there any way to get rid of navigation before installing updates? I'm not using it anyway, and it seems like this is the only thing that could prevent me from succeeding.
No idea mate. Not sure you can do it without Toyota tech intervention.
There are some people that made it with navi as well so might have to give it a try. Fingers crossed
Pentru o Toyota Corolla 2019 , 17TDT1EU-DA01 și fără model id MEU aveți idee ce stick-uri utilizez din cele 3 ? Înțeleg că nu are navigație. Mulțumesc mult
Eu am folosit cu succes doar stick-ul 2 si 3 (exact cum scrie in buletinul Toyota). A durat ceva ( 45-50 min) dar fara erori. Bafta!
Urmeaza pasii din PDF nu este greu. Important e sa faci stick ul cum trb
