Another detail I loved was how the citizens end up with the tape on their shoulders. A few have yellow tape while most have the red tape.

The bishops cant see the color yellow which is why the banditos used it - the petals, the tapes etc. In this clancy album, I think they use red cause the bishops can see that kinda showing active rebellion against the control of Dema. Clancy is determined this time, not scared of the Bishops anymore! Cant wait to see this revolution!@@althea9399

I'm pretty sure the dead guy is Clancy, y'all go watch JLAndersonmusic's new breakdown, that'll help confirm. I think the guy looks like Tyler most of the video for the sake of the normal watcher who wouldn't know why a random guy was singer instead of Tyler

Yes!!! And it’s Layers deep!
On one level, he is writing the music from his human perspective, we can relate and then as we see the same lyrics in the “lore world” we get to explore these thoughts and feelings in a narrative to make Sense of the human experience.
My interpretation about “overcompensate” is it can have a double meaning. I believe it was in Tyler’s interview with Zane Lowe when he explained that he was constantly zig-zagging or overcompensating from one album to another. Trench was Tyler overcompensating for Blurryface. SAI was overcompensating for Trench. But now he’s leaning into it. Overcompensating and speeding past the dangerous bend signs forces him outside of the normal or predictable lanes … so essentially Lane Boy. But now Tyler is fully embracing the zig-zag and not being apologetic about it. It’s his creative process.
It’s also setting the tone for the album and preparing us to yet again expect the unexpected. This is going to be a killer track to open the concerts! I think Tyler is going to have a lot of fun in this era.
using double meanings is also a super duper talent they use in their art!

I really think people are starting to forget that this is all about tyler's state of mind
Art is usually for people to relate to, not to take as a fact. The lore and the message of TOP’s music has long become bigger than Tyler’s personal battles. It’s about mental health struggles in general and about corrupt, manipulating authority/religion and the depth you are ready to dwell into to battle it or join it.
Voldsøy means Violence island in Norwegian. Like in Migraine!
‘Torchbearer’ (факелоносець) is definitely written in Ukrainian, not russian. A russian version of the same word doesn’t have the letter ‘ь’ at the end.
Also, Ukraine was a location (and sort of visual inspiration) for two music videos from Trench era(Nico and the Niners, Levitate). So Ukraine is basically connected to Clancy’s story, at the very least visually. It would make no sense for the band to use the russian language out of the blue, especially since what’s been happening in Ukraine since 2014.

@@helgamoon9444 I’ve been having the same thoughts. Well, at the very least the ‘visual’ part is undeniable. The boys filmed a lot in Ukraine, they worked with dozens of Ukrainian background actors etc, which is extremely cool, and it definitely added a certain vibe to the visual part of the lore❤️
the TOP logo is modeled after the dangerous bend symbol. how can anyone NOT see that? He constantly manipulates it depending on the direction they go, how "hazardous" the new road is. It's all symbolic.

Yes, TOTALLY! And he's miming the Twenty One Pilots logo in this video when he's talking about the 'dangerous bend' (the 2 verticals and the short horizontal). Tho, as said above, I believe they derived their logo from the dangerous bend concept and I love that with every album the logo has changed. As a graphic designer who designs logos/branding, this used to drive me crazy (you keep the same logo for brand recognition). But yes, it's all symbolic! And note how the 2 vertical bars now connect with the circle...it's all coming together. Love these guys & the way theirs minds work! ❤🔥
I've always loved that all twenty-one pilots can be taken in two or three ways. There is the face value meaning, the lore meaning, and the real world meaning. Overcomensate could be about Clancy or about Tyler feeling the need to shift course with his music every album.
Imma just said it in comment since a lot of fans did not realized this, the small hallway that they recorded their music video was described in "The Judge" from "Blurryface" album:
"Three lights are lit
But the fourth one's out
I can tell cause it's a bit darker
Than the last night's bout
I forgot about the drought
Of light bulbs in this house
So I head out
Down a route I think is heading south"
The red light at the end of the hallway could resemble of the direction "South" that Tyler mention in the song.

I think it just means the Trench island. The Dema. Migraine was written in 2012 in reference to his head hurting from going thru the faith and back to depression. But i can see that maybe he used those old lyric visuals to create this storyline.

I think they definitely used migraine retrospectively to connect it with the story. Because they also played the migraine interlude in the outside music video (the part before Tyler starts rapping).

The dangerous bend symbol was used by nicolas bourbaki to show that a section of a textbook was difficult, or could be easily misunderstood. I believe they're telling us that there's something that could be misunderstood about this video/album.
also something that people haven't noticed, when he is wearing the mask he has yellow stripes, when he exits the room he has red stripes.
i think that means that posses a dead bandito and comes out with red because it shows he's possesed

@@emilybukalo5264 You see, in Saturday music video, Keons actually wants to help Clancy escape, so he ‘morphs’(transports his mind into) the long d3@d dragon at the bottom of the ocean and attacks the submarine the band was performing inside of, which helps Clancy escape.
So Keons betrayed Nico by going against him and the rest of the bishops(hence the ‘then Nico was betrayed’ part in the letters) and the rest of the bishops then proceed to attack Keons with kn!v3s, k!lling him(Keons is gone now). D3@d Keons’s eyes shine yellow again at the end of the Outside music video, right at the time of Clancy getting a hold of the antlers on the Ned island and performing the ritualistic moves with them, signifying that Clancy used the antlers and went into Keons’s d3@d body.
Hope I got it all cleared out cause it’s a lot of information criss-crossing. So, in the end, Keons is the one who’s gone(attacked by all the bishops for his betrayal) and Nico and his rule was crossed, by Keons.

Couple things i believe are important that you didn’t mention: 1:25 three lights are lit but the fourth ones out, “so i head out, down the route i think is heading south.”, Dema has the same geographical shape as the island of Hawaii and the southernmost part of the USA overlaps with port Vial, clancy and the Torch Bearer took the paladin strait to voldsoy to port Vial. Also, clancy wears a stole which symbolizes Priestly Authority, maybe because he is the image of the rebellion and preaches the truth of Dema? Just seems like it’s gonna be important. And the door that clancy opens at the start of the mv must be a reference to the door he’d open in concert from the Icy tour. Also, nice catch on the lights that represent the Bishops.
It seems like they’ve put a huge emphasis on “Sahlo Folina” between this song and the unplugged show with it written on their clothes. Wonder if there is something being foreshadowed there….
I just love that the dangerous bend symbol could be as well the band symbol. That is so clever writing.

Josh is also not present in the hall as we see him at the end of the video still with Tyler/Clancy.
Maybe the whole music video is a vision that Tyler/Clancy is having while seizing a member of Dema.
And not actually what the people of Dema are seeing as when Clancy stops seizing the character becomes a guy with long hair and normal hands.
Meaning that Tyler/Clancy was never there.
I don’t know enough about the lore to know what this means.
Also at the end of the music video the screen lights up as orange.
He’s not smiling and breaking the 4th wall he’s smiling to the rest of the rebels that happens at the end of the outside music video.
Maybe the same twitching in his eyes is reference to him literally just seizing into Keon’s dead body moments before they walk onto the shore in the outside music video and now’s he’s back seizing a different person within dema.
Also I think those yellow eyes only appear on the bishops.
As the one controlling Trash the dragon in the outside music video has yellow eyes.
Maybe Clancy/Tyler is related to a bishop because how can 9 bishops be tasked to capture and locate the 1000’s of people within Dema.
Maybe the bishops knew of Clany’s power all along and that’s why they keep a close watch on him in particular.
Because they seem to not care that much that 100s of banditos managed to escape.
you have some really good insights and ideas! I believe that they are two locations. The hallway is where Tyler and Josh are playing the music and like a vision or perhaps, some sort of projection etc. Josh is able to be seen as well or maybe the people cannot see him like you said. But it makes a lot of sense that Tyler and Josh are not in Dema, LBC at the end of the video where we left them in the outside video. I love the inside on the yellow turning red.!!!

@@WonderLoveKileab Sooo, are you saying you think Ty/Clancy and Josh/Torchbearer are still on Voldsoy when they're performing in the side room? And Ty has seized a body (the verdict seems to still be out on whether this is the OG Clancy or some random recently deceased citizen of Dema). But thru the seizing they are able to start teaching the citizens the truth about the perils of Dema/Bishops/Vialism. Then Ty/Clancy finishes his seizing/teaching, and the Banditos are there waiting on the shore of Dema, to help them fight. Will be interesting to see if the next video shows the Banditos in red or yellow stripes (as there is a lot of controversy on whether or not the new red tape signifies good (rebel red) or evil (Nico & the other bishops)
The amount of detail and connections to the previous albums is absolutely insane. The fact that this has been an ongoing project over many years with everything working out so perfectly.... Nobody else on this planet has done anything remotely close to what is band is doing and I respect the creativity so much - and I don't think anyone ever will be able to replicate this, on the type of scale top has done it.
About the song, I am so glad that they have gone back towards a rough/heavy sound. I loooooove how they've reused lines from Bandito. I wish the opening piano was longer though. That part made me think about the last song on Trench which is Leave The City (as if top made a whole album as a little experimental side quest - literally SAI being a feverdream, a filler to make the story longer and add details - ad break). Clancy will be a continuation of Trench, a brother that will carry the same energy, and I cannot wait. I loved the sound of Trench and never listen to SAI (except Redecorate) as it feels so out of place. Perhaps that was the purpose?

The “torchbearer” word is definitely written in Ukrainian language as there is a letter «ь» in the end. Pilots shot 2 videos off of “Trench” in Ukraine, so I suppose all of it makes some sense.
Another thing is, when TøP are in the corridor, there are 4 lights on the ceiling, the first 3 being illuminated, but the 4th one being red. Could be a reference to the song “the Judge”
The part about Clancy possibly getting addicted to seizing reminds me of Frodo in LOTR when he started to get tempted to use the ring of power and fell for it once.
well, lord of the rings is tyler's favorite movie so he might have gotten some inspiration from that. I think with this band nothing is a reach and anything is possible

And why Keon would seize trash the dragon to save them in the Saturday video. Not gonna lie kinda like that idea but I think when he says the prodigal son he means like a son of Dema. But I wouldn’t be mad at papa Keon. Lol

i keep thinking about the "dangerous bend/band symbol". He is singing "i fly by" which could have two meanings: 1. It is his adapted motto, finally accepting the role of his that has been inside of him from the beginning, showing also in the logo of the band.
2. It literally is a street sign like Tyler said in the interview and "fly by" means to very quickly rush by it and leave it behind. Rushing into the danger, passing the warning signs (that were maybe put up by dema so no one would leave?).
In any way, Clancy wants to teach the citizens exactly that. In his letter/journal entry, FLY BY is the message made by the boldes letters. And in said entry, he writes "I can teach them. They can learn what I've learned, and fly by all of the constructs Dema has placed in front of them."

Great video and hit all the things I noticed too. I disagree that Clancy will be tempted by the power of seizing and begin to abuse it, but we will see! I think he wanted to call a rebellion “meeting” as fast as possible so used the power. Also! It is far less risky bc if HE were there right in the open they may target and kill him. I stand by the power hungry theory. I agree with you to though. My thought is right now he is using it for good he is just trying to go into dema without being trapped. He is helping the banditos. But I think slowly the more he uses the power for the banditos the more attached he will get to it. I think it will turn him evil because he will love the power too much. The more he falls in love with the power the more he wants to permanently keep it. So since seizing would not need to be/could be used if dema gets destroyed he may turn to the dark side so he can keep his power, and yes I got that all from a small smirk he did 🤭
Refer to NATN. The kids by the drum set with the Bandito jacket. It was purposely left there for use. That being said, the mask was also left. More than likely in a BREAST POCKET. We can also refer to the flowers in his box. Possibly one flower per puppeteer event that has occured in this cycle of elimination.
This word is Ukrainian, not russian! And this is important, not only in context of reality, but the symbolism of the story as well. and bent symbol which Tyler refers to is similar to the war propaganda symbol in russia.
The dangerous bend symbol is extremely similar to russian z but likely not what Tyler had in mind when he was coming up with the Dema story. He came up with the lore, and used that symbol(a British version of the dangerous bend sign which then a group of mathematicians proceeded to use in their scientific work, the Nicolas Bourbaki team) long before 2014, and way long before russian troops started using z as their main symbol etc.
It is of course cool that we can draw parallels with real life, apply our own emotions and worldviews on any art etc, but I honestly doubt that this ‘Z as an evil symbol’ thing is the band openly condemning russia in regards to the war, because twenty one pilots have always been apolitical on the outside(in their personal lives, who knows, they might’ve donated and supported many causes, Ukraine included), but I honestly doubt Tyler built his lore around russia’s attack on Ukraine in 2014.
Tyler’s story is more about corrupt religion, control of the narrative, sensorship and false authority, his own battle with mental health and with doubting his faith etc etc. This parralel can obviously be applied to any totalitarian regimes and people suffering from those regimes(being sensored, controlled, scared, ordered around etc).
I’m just stating this because if we start to openly connect Clancy’s story to Ukraine’s and Ukraine’s suff3ring only, it will trigger all those ruzzian bots and we will only bring more unnecessary garbage disputes(from their z side) to this comment section, and it will propel the channel’s owner to start deleting all comments mentioning Ukraine at all. I saw it happen on other channels too often. 💙💛

I would like to make note that with the recent Clancy arc, most of the previous album songs have received red tape over the eyes or for the blurryface album, the dot representing Nico, except a few. I'm not sure what it means but I will list out the songs unaffected.

Blurryface: Stressed out, Ride, and Lane Boy
Trench: Jumpsuit, Levitate, My Blood, and Nico and the Niners
Scaled and Icy: Choker, Shy away, and Saturday

One of the big questions that remain for me are what makes Clancy special? Why is he the exception? Why can he use seizing? Because he literally just told a bunch of people how to take over control. Makes me worry about the Neds. Will they go extinct?
I always assumed Clancy is special because HE is the one that created the world as said in Bandito.

That's it, I want to borrow some ideas from this lore and use it them for a tabletop RPG campaign. It's so well constructed, developed and resonates on a personal level for a lot of people (myself included).

@@Bluspethouseandriding I didn’t really figure that out myself but what I’ve heard is that there was the original Clancy, that one who wrote and send the letters but he died(remember "clancy is dead" on the cover of Christmas saves the year and scaled and icy being an anagram for clancy is dead) and tyler morphed into him through seizing so now he is clancy

He failed escaping or saving him, so now he is gonna overcompensate and start redecorating, instead of doing nothing. What a vicious cycle. Glad Josh will be the hero in the end. I believe Tyler is disassociating and becoming a dark version of Clancy who replaces the original Bishops to repeat back to Hvydrtysoul as an outro for Paladin Strait. This is literally what the Bourbaki group did, create a fictional character to hide behind as a group of mathematicians during WWII, before the Nazis could use their evidence against the anonymous group in 1938. They even erased and redacted info to save those being oppressed like in Dema. Similar to topology or morphing into someone else… Tyler has reverse engineered this show how we shouldn’t trust a perfect person, symbols bend, warning signs, rituals and habits. Mental illness is a huge cycle of ever changing meaning and metaphors, depending on the disease. Tyler has eluded to schizophrenia, but I believe he disassociates. That’s why I think Josh is his imaginary friend and will save everyone in the end as Tyler sacrifices himself. We’ll win, but not everyone will get out. He is literally gonna be riding Nicos horse like in Jumpsuit. Why did Josh take him back to Dema in Choke and shoot lightning out of his eyes? I think Clancy/Tyler is about to Overcompensate after oppression from the bishops so he will get wrapped up and abuse the power, possibly even becoming what he's feared all along. The smile at the end really drives that theory home. It can also be a metaphor for mental illness in that overcompensating for a mental problem could cause a spiral in another dark direction. Whether it be bullying to make you feel better, using excessive pain medication to make yourself feel happy, or even ignoring an important part of your life at the expense of your own specific changes.

I have a theory...
I heard somewhere that people theorize Nico or Keons to be Clancy's father, but I have a different idea. In I Am Clancy, I believe Tyler/Clancy said something about the Banditos needing him for something, or maybe that's just what I gathered from something else. Either way, in the song, (overcompensate), Tyler calls himself the "prodigal son". The prodigal son was a young man who left his home with his fathers inheritance, blew it, lost everything, but eventually came back to his father, and there was a huge celebration (this is all biblical references). Not only that, but we get an introduction for Josh for the first time, but not as torchbearer (they also failed to mention him in I Am Clancy. Makes you wonder if he's someone more important). He is introduced as Josh Dun instead of torchbearer AND mentioned as "wanted dead or alive." this whole part of the song is an address to the young people of Dema, as Clancy is trying to start a revolution. My guess is he was a legendary criminal and rebel from back a couple decades ago, and he wants to let them know: "Hey, this guy knows what he's doing. He already escaped the Bishops, and is the mastermind and leader of the Banditos. His name is Josh Dun. Sound familiar? Yeah he's that guy your parents grew up with who resisted and left Dema." Saying this would probably get the young people hyped, and give them the same feeling Clancy felt in the past that got him to eventually rebel.
Sorry got a bit on a tangent, but an important one. I'm saying all this because what if Josh Dun is Clancy's father?!?! It would make sense; he is back with the banditos crowned with glory and leadership. Although he was gone for a time, he's back, and now its time to celebrate. The reason the banditos need him, is that he is likely the chosen son of the legendary leader of the Banditos, Josh Dun. His power and newfound authority will be a huge asset to the Banditos, and this is also probably why they went to such great lengths to get him both in and out of Dema.
I'll be putting this up on a few different channels, as it is probably the best and most complicated theory I have come up with so far.

But I think Clancy being one of the bishops’ sons makes more sense because why do the bishops keep coming after him even once he gets to Trench? It can’t just be because they make music, Dema/The Bishops have proven they can make an album (SAI), they could just make someone else famous.

@TheSuperMehh I know, but what's the lore reason. If they don't explain how he gets into dema, it will be a big plot hole. Although I have heard people explain it as in tylers imagination, he sees Josh there when really it's only him that's actually there in the lore.
I have seen a video where in the Clancy album, you can see the face you see in the blurryface album.
It seems like during seizing, when the seizing is being used for good, then the eyes turn yellow - when it's being used by the bishops to control then the eyes turn red
we never saw the yellow eyes until The Outside, when it was finally being used for good - that is probably also how the bishops knew what Keons was doing because it never showed him doing anything other than standing there, but the yellow eyes would give it away
when red eyes show up, it's been during the livestream when the bishops were trying to control everyone, or in earlier music videos when the "Blurryface voice" came out of Tyler (Stressed Out, Fairly Local, etc)

I think the seats have something as the citizens are getting up to leave the auditorium. One clip you showed towards the end of this, shows 3 seats still down and 2 have a strip of tape. I can't tell if one is red and the other is yellow (I am color blind)... Probably nothing but I also have suspicions that when the citizens are entering the auditorium to sit, there is already one particular citizen already sitting there looking "spaced out" or as if he has been sitting there a while before the others join (or he was the first to sit..) I am over analyzing obviously BUT that immediately stood out to me. ALSO, when Tyler (Clancy) first stands in front of the door, you notice the panel door is the Christian cross symbol. Basic 6 panel doors have this since the beginning in belief that the "cross" would keep evil out. I find that interesting because Clancy is preaching at the "podium." Again, something that caught my eye as a side note.

One thing I’m curious about is what the “seizing” is a metaphor for? I mean not everything has to be a metaphor but given the Bishops each represent a negative aspect of Tyler’s psyche and his depression and vialism is suicidal thoughts (and the banditos his band and fans) then what’s the seizing
It’s not a metaphor. Looks pyrokinesis from The Outside video when Tyler first uses it when a Ned gives him his antlers… just means like demonic possession lol? Hence the red tape
I saw in a comment on JLAndersons reaction to this video that just before Tyler/Clancy enters the auditorium he has a veil on like the Bishops wear. Once he enters it’s gone. I don’t know what it means hopefully someone can explain.

A lot of his early work was religious and I think there is still a thread of that here, but I believe he probably toned down the religion once they got signed (for vessel) because it wouldn’t be as relatable to all fans. More mental health focus instead. But def see what you mean for sure

1. Tyler has seen the dangerous bend symbol when driving and not slowed down, but then has to overcompensate for the speed by possibly driving over the lines or breaking harder later.
2. That metaphor for life. He is giving himself and us permission and encouragement:
Not to hesitate to maybe overcompensate, for it is far worse to say, “well, I didn’t slow down earlier, I guess I’m just not the kind of person who slows down, it’s probably too late for me, and then get it a wreck” rather than overcompensate by recognizing “I really do have a chance” coming back too far or slowing down too much in order to “switch the beat, to avoid yesterdays Dance.”

One thought I had initially when I heard the bird screeches in the song, and also since he says "I fly by" several times, was that he may be using the psychokinesis to take over the vultures similar to how the bishops did. Maybe he's using the vultures to keep an eye on how things are going both with the bishops and the banditos, since we already know the bishops we're using the vultures in order to keep an eye on the banditos (and Clancy's specifically,) due to the vulture's yellow eyes. It's just a theory, but it seems pretty interesting that there were bird screeches for no apparent reason and then he says "I fly by" and"in my peripheral" in several different parts of the song. Any thoughts?

At the end of The outside they see the banditos torches. I believe the ending of overcompensate when they are greeted by fire, they’re meeting the banditos that were waiting on the shore.
