The line "Don't trust a song that's flawless" makes a lot more sense. We can say those new happy, more commercial sounding songs from Scaled and Icy are "flawless" and we shouldn't trust them.

SAI is seeming like its gonna be their brightest/happiest album thematically, but the with the darkest implications beyond even BlurryFace. Very cool.

Tyler saying "don't trust a song that's flawless" in the live concert makes so much sense. The new album looks 'flawless' but he's hinting that we can't trust dema. Like he said, it's propaganda.
Don’t trust a song that’s flawless is also a line from a song on the blurry face album so that ties it back in as well.
Thing is, blue dragons are seen as protective beings, so i think trash the dragon is actualy someone trying to save Tyler and Josh instead of hurt them. Thats why hes been named trash, because Dema doesnt like him.
I mean, now, way later, in the choker video he seems to really want the little Trash figurine, and then both him and the dog turns into figurines as well, and obv thats a fake Josh in the video working for Dema, so, I'm inclined to agree, Trash is a good boy.
A friend pointed out that Trash breathes yellow fire, so maybe it will be what breaks down the walls of Dema
Yellow fire is actually gas the sahlo fohlina from bandito and the bishops cannot perceive yellow so ye the trash dragon is a good character fighting against dema
I know next To nothing about all the theories, but could Clancy be the dragon? That’s why Tyler tried to steal him in the choker vid. Maybe he “morphed”. I know that’s a stretch haha

Another thing is that "Clancy is dead" means much more than simply that our messenger is dead since Clancy represents the logical side of Tyler's brain, it could be seen as Tyler finally snapping after all the back and forth, and if we are to speculate, it can also be seen as Tyler breaking from his regular everyday routine (being taken from and to DEMA), which fits with the song.
Shy away could be propaganda for dema since the whole idea is throw what you know out the window so it could mean ditch what guy know and commit to dema making it seem like a good thing

THE RETURN OF THE KING
I think the album is gonna start very poppy and very sugary, sounding commercial. There will be hints of darkness sprinkled throughout the album, culminating in a final song that will completely diverge from the tone of the album.

@@asuscommenous9126 The way Tyler has been able to make connections to his older songs and create a plausible metaphor to mental illness is incredible. The meaning each word has to him shows. We connect to his music not because of the code cracking or the cryptic messages, but because we understand that behind all that there's a person who understands pain and constantly fights against it. Creating DEMA and the bishops and the Banditos (and everything in between) is Tyler's way of turning all of his production into something visual. Connect the dots so that more people might be able to finally understand the struggles people with a mental illness have. It's okay not to like their music, but there's no denying that what they've created is beyond anything most artists out there have been putting out.

I don't know. It's a bit concerning that they resorted to making a whole "propaganda" album. It almost seems like an excuse for sellout pop. If the next album is awesome, I will gladly take back what I said. But for presumably the next three years, we're stuck with their worst album yet.

MCR did the same exact thing with the promotion of Danger Days in 2010. I remember because I was there! They had a cryptic website with a computer screen to input codes, DEMA is like BL/ind (Better Living Ind.) the bad guys of danger days, and the Killjoys are like Clancy’s character, the ones escaping from this evil government. MCR was the first band to do this. The similarities are striking.

its very interesting how trench's style invokes a sense of home, of belonging, of welcoming, and while the SAI stuff is meant to look appealing, it absolutely turns me away from it. i look at the colors and fonts, and it immediately gives me bad vibes. vibes of fake happiness, of this weird uncomfortableness. ive always thought of it as feeling "orange" but that doesnt make lots of sense to most. its like,,,, a feeling where the sound of peoples voices and the feeling of literally anything touching me makes me so violently uncomfortable, and then i cant do anythjng about it. its just there. it doesnt go away. i cant really put it into words, its kind of complicated, but thats how SAI feels
this is what i love about graphic design, makes you feel so much subconsciously
I agree with you a ton. Even before understanding the lore, I got those vibes. And that's part of why I like the album less.
dude i LOVE tøp and i grew up constantly listening to them. i've loved every album but this is SO interesting now because scaled and icy instantly put me off for this reason. i didnt even listen to it until way later because it felt so distant and fake

blurry face presented an enemy controlling us, trench presented a protest against the enemy, sai is presenting the enemy becoming more authoritarian - my guess is that in this album there’ll be a spark, a spark of revolution leading to an album about war, about fighting back
Me and my friend came up with a theory: What if the dragon itself IS Clancy, caught in the dragon form (just like nico’s theory). The dragon is propaganda, therefore clancy is not dead! Clancy lives, its What dema wants you to believe!

Notice how in the posters, Tyler and Josh are neither smiling or frowning. They keep a neutral, bland expression throughout, not looking like they are enjoying the experience, but also not protesting against it.
That is a key to understand the true meaning of SAI. I don't want to sound rude but there's a lot more behind this album, it is Propaganda. TOP are always TOP and in my opinion in this album they've reached a new level of "hiding the message behind the words". I think that knowing a little about the lore (I recommend Wise Bear's video about it, short but straight to the point) and paying attention to the detail of the videos they spread a big message, a painful description of our society but it's the truth. They're sad, theyre cold, they're distant. All these things represents they feeling about being sell as a product, not as individuals. Another key point but in this case is less about them, it's a symbol of capitalism.
I'm only 30 seconds in but I am already blown away by the editing and the setup of the video! This is so unique and incredible! Keep up the work!
I know a lot of the clique doesn’t like the new style of the album bc it’s so different from the past (of course there are many that do like it, and I’m one of them that actually like the new design and theme of the new album) but what if that’s the goal, it’s supposed to make us feel uncomfortable because it’s something foreign, what if this new era has to feel foreign and not known to us because it’s warning us something big is going to happen. (I know this is so far in the future thinking) but what if the next album after SAI is going to call back to this current album and tell us to stop being hypnotized by the propaganda shown in SAI.
The scaled and icy album gets quite a bit of hate from the clique, with the main criticism of it being that it feels too pop and not like there old albums like Trench or Blurryface, which has more edgy/emo songs about anxiety and depression; but I can't help but feel like: That's the whole point.
In Lane boy, we were literally told "don't trust a song that's flawless" and what do we have in Scaled and icy?? That's right: Flawless songs (by industry/mainstream standards at least) and it almost makes me feel like that song was a warning to the clique, that if Tyler and Josh all of a sudden started making "flawless" songs where everything's alright, to the point where it almost feels dystopian, that somethings wrong and it's a cry for help; and this can also link back to the themes shown in Trench, Blurryface and Vessel.
Society expects people who are neurodivergent and/or struggle with mental health issues to mask it, to suffer in silence, and by Dema forcing Tyler and Josh to act like everything's alright, they can do whatever they want to the two of them, dragging them back to Dema or worse....
