I was just thinking this not long ago. We used to be teenagers when we discovered them. But now we are like, full grown adults. And I just can't seem to get tired of the universe they are creating.
My son introduced me to 21 Pilots . The first song he showed me was the video for " Car Radio"....I was immediately and utter hooked. The lyrics, their sound, their whole being is incredible. We saw them in concert together as well. I listen to them every day!! I will be 60 this year. I can't imagine life without them !! This new music is fantastic!!!

The fact that this is finally written out into some kind of story is awesome. I mean, I think its way too good to just be a four minute long short story and needs some kind of full length movie or book but this is still great.
hope it doenst stray away so much from where they started as the new album did. I loved the new album. But i adored the older ones much more. But the older ones handled depression and suicide with a much sharper sword too, wouldnt want Tyler to revist his suicidal pains just to please some fans. After all im guesing he learned to deal with his demons.

still baffles me how their reputation is the "cringe middle school music" (though i do see the attitudes changing now) when they're literally some of the best storytellers i know. to my knowledge, no other band has lore as detailed as this. besides the music is straight up fire and it's clear that they do this for art not for money. they just keep getting better

they probably want to get more intimate with their fans as they get older, as we all do. Instead of trying to act out a hidden narrative that people will focus on more than the music, lets make shit canon so we can all follow along with the story on the same page. No more arguments, no more division, just the music.

4 crazy albums, almost 10 years of music. I was 16 years old when Blurryface came out and it was my interior world since then, I grew up and Trench shaped my twenties. SAI was a fresh breath, still with something dark in it. Guys, I was born ready, let's make this finale mind-blowing !
To me it sounded more like soft but confident affirmation. As if Tyler's telling Nico on his face that he is going back to Trench and that he can't stop him
It's no wonder that TØP is the only band nowadays that really deserves their success, they managed to tell a story not through just one album, but FOUR, you don't find things like that anymore and this video summarizing it all is simply a masterpiece, it looks like a Maze Runner or Hunger Games saga, but with a powerful message between the lines, thank you Tyler and Josh, you are everything a fan needs!
The fact that the heavydirtysoul music video, a video I was obsessed with when I was TWELVE, is still relevant to the story and new things coming out when I am nineteen is just insane. I love this band so much and the continuity they've created through each album is beyond incredible

I think someone like Tyler could never stop writing music. And Josh is probably not easily kept from his drum set either.. They couldn't stop even if they'd try 😂 I found them when they released Vessel and until today I had no idea this story line existed 😂 I wasn't a huge fan of Heathens (too conventional) so I didn't really listen to their last two albums. I (somehow) assumed they had left their quirkyness behind 🤦🏼♀️😅 Anyway, I had a dance party in my living room yesterday evening and jammed to all of their songs. I felt all the feelings I had as a teenager when I found them for the first time. It was lovely! But I must say, I was SO confused by this video because all the comments were talking about this story line from years back 😂😂🤦🏼♀️

Instantly made me understand why I dislike Scaled and Icy so much. The only song on that album I can tolerate (I actually love it) is The Outside. I’ve been listening since day one, song one and SAI just felt so off to me. I guess maybe it was supposed to be that way.

To us that are beginning to “grow old,” who listened to and was invested in Twenty One Pilots while “growing up.” This time we are told the story. This video “I Am Clancy”, is a backbone to the world of Dema that we all created in our minds. New details, and details that are set in stone. It feels as a bit of certainty in this never ending crazy time.

Did the lyrics help with the mental illness of the dark ages and all of the heresy? Glad to hear Tyler and Josh could really spark a movement and Age of Enlightenment though... they are the pioneers of bardcore after all
This kind of thinking isn't THAT rare in my opinion. He's just 1 of the few who've been able to share it with billions of people and hasnt had his arm successfully twisted by the industry, which is obviously run by and made for Western 'normalcy' This kind of thinking is too often squashed out of people or watered down. He and Josh are kicking normalcy's butt, hopefully paving the way for others who are 'too weird' or too imaginative' for mainstream, and allowing more of the - squashed into normal- folks to be exposed to what they probably feel but don't know, they are missing.

I don't think there's ever been more detailed and deeper storytelling within music than what twenty one pilots does. This is absolutely incredible. Every single thing they've ever done is intrinsically connected to everything else. They probably have the story written for the next 5 albums already
You should take a look at what Nine Inch Nails did for their album Year Zero. ARGs, secret shows, hidden codes inside CDs, USB keys with "leaks" stashed in bathroom venues, an entire (cancelled, alas) HBO series was even planned, the lore is insane

The first time I heard a Twenty One Pilots song, I was a sad and traumatized 12-year-old kid. Today, at 18, I'm in a much better place, about to graduate high school and feeling proud of how far I've come. The past years haven't been easy. While others my age were out having fun, I was at home, desperately trying to keep myself alive. Depression and PTSD are beasts, but I made it through, and I owe a lot of that to Twenty One Pilots-their songs, the storyline surrounding Dema, and the fandom. All of this gave me strength and made me feel less alone. It helped me help myself. I'm glad I'm still here to see this storyline come to an end. Thank you, Tyler. Thank you, Josh. As many other people said, this band is the reason I’m alive today. As a teenager with crippling depression and other mental illnesses they finally gave me a voice and I felt heard. I fell off for a while then I thought their songs felt more “pop-ey” but I’ve come back because I’m in dark place and I knew they would help me. This band is more than a band. They have saved so many people it’s amazing, I love tøp they will always have a deep place in my heart
Also this short film, which is basically what it is, explains why they came out with pop music, they were forced to preform. But now they are back to who they are I love it I love it I love it. It’s so beautiful and amazing and they came back right when I needed them.

This world Tyler's created is the most accurate representation of the mental illness journey I've ever come across and its so poweful to listen to songs i used to, and so many people still, sob to in their darkest moments, and just scream them powerfully and proudly. Even though I'm new to the clique, I really love the way they crafted the Trench concept and story. At first, I was quite confused about it, but as I dug deeper, scrutinizing the duo's background and lore, I realized that it was shockingly amazing. I'm so lucky to have Twenty One Pilots in my life! I find Tyler’s voice is SO cathartic!! Both his singing and speaking voices just put my brain in the happiest of places!! This band has gotten me through a near death incident, chronic illnesses diagnoses, and 27 surgeries no lie!! I am mainly going to focus on the music videos, there are other aspects of the lore that I used such as other songs, interviews and Demaorg* *Note: Demaorg is a website hidden in the vessel page on the 21 pilots website and contains letters and Journal entries written by Clancy Dema storyline important details: The continent of trench: this is where our story takes place, Fantasy world that represent someone’s mind Dema: a city with walls surrounding it lead by the Bishops who keep the Citizens from leaving The Bishops: a mysterious group of hooded humanoids that keep all the Citizens of Dema inside the walls, they cannot phisicly harm rebels they must use their powers to bring all rebels back under the spell of Dema. Fatalism: the religion propagated by the bishops glorifying suicide, hailing those who kill themselves as heroes. (The song neon gravestone) The banditos: a group of rebels who help smuggle people out of Dema they wear a yellow jumpsuit that makes them somewhat invisible to the bishops. Jumpsuit: a coat with yellow tape on it that helps the banditos stay unnoticed by the bishops. Ned: small creatures that live outside of Dema their horns have a strange connection to the bishops, they can be used by the bishops, or can be used to control the bishops. Trash The dragon: a underwater dragon that is an enemy of the bishops. Clancy: the protagonist of the story he is a bandito who is escaping Dema and is best friends with the leader of the banditos Dema music videos in order -jumpsuit -nico and the niners -levitate -Saturday -The outside Storyline: Dema storyline plot begins in the Trench trilogy The story starts with the music video jumpsuit Clancy is outside of Dema and is being chased by a bishop on horseback, he is swayed by the bishop and begins to follow him but the banditos help him and he runs from the bishop, he is eventually over run and captured. The next segment of the story is in Neco and the niners, we see the bishops setting up some sort of ritual and Clancy is back in Dema but his spirit is not broken And he is not under Dema's spell “what the bishops don’t know is Dema don’t control us” he meets up with the banditos and they go to their underground basis and go through secret tunnels and escape the city. We move on to the final episode in the trench saga, Levitate. Clancy goes with a group of banditos to their camp outside Dema and all seams well until a bishop comes to the camp and forcefully captures Clancy and thus ends the trench saga. The scaled in ice era begins with Saturday* Note: The video Shy away is another propaganda video but has no Direct implications on the story, other than showing that Clancy is under the bishops Control. We meet up with Clancy again and he and other banditos they are hosting a propaganda video for the people of Dema on a submarine somewhere with the bishops but something seams off instead of continuing to fight they all appear to be partying, they’re all completely under the control of Dema, and it appears the bishops may have won until trash the dragon crashes into the submarine freeing the banditos and Clancy. The latest installment of the saga “The outside” takes place after Saturday we see The bishops finishing a ritual they sacrifice one of their members to kill the dragon that freed the banditos. Clancy and Josh are washed up on a mysterious island where they venture into a cave that appears to be a settlement of Ned’s the Ned’s give them clothes and food and their leader leads Clancy out of the cave The ned proceeds to remove his horns and he gives them to Clancy, Clancy uses them to infiltrate the ritual the bishops used to kill the dragon and takes control of the dead bishops body making him overturn one of the light rods used in The ceremony Lighting Dema on fire. still baffles me how their reputation is the "cringe middle school music" (though i do see the attitudes changing now) when they're literally some of the best storytellers i know. to my knowledge, no other band has lore as detailed as this. besides the music is straight up fire and it's clear that they do this for art not for money. they just keep getting better

It's no wonder that TØP is the only band nowadays that really deserves their success, they managed to tell a story not through just one album, but FOUR, you don't find things like that anymore and this video summarizing it all is simply a masterpiece, it looks like a Maze Runner or Hunger Games saga, but with a powerful message between the lines, thank you Tyler and Josh, you are everything a fan needs!

Tyler's a genius. His kinda thinking is really rare and precious to this world. I love this band. Everything's so unique about them.
This kind of thinking isn't THAT rare in my opinion. He's just 1 of the few who've been able to share it with billions of people and hasnt had his arm successfully twisted by the industry, which is obviously run by and made for Western 'normalcy' This kind of thinking is too often squashed out of people or watered down. He and Josh are kicking normalcy's butt, hopefully paving the way for others who are 'too weird' or too imaginative' for mainstream, and allowing more of the - squashed into normal- folks to be exposed to what they probably feel but don't know, they are missing.

It feels like 2018 again, listening to Trench for the first time and seeing people theorizing on every bit of lore they can find. It's really nostalgic hearing Tyler recite the lore. I can't wait to see what these guys have in store :)

I don't think there's ever been more detailed and deeper storytelling within music than what twenty one pilots does. This is absolutely incredible. Every single thing they've ever done is intrinsically connected to everything else.
They probably have the story written for the next 5 albums already

You should take a look at what Nine Inch Nails did for their album Year Zero. ARGs, secret shows, hidden codes inside CDs, USB keys with "leaks" stashed in bathroom venues, an entire (cancelled, alas) HBO series was even planned, the lore is insane

The first time I heard a Twenty One Pilots song, I was a sad and traumatized 12-year-old kid. Today, at 18, I'm in a much better place, about to graduate high school and feeling proud of how far I've come. The past years haven't been easy. While others my age were out having fun, I was at home, desperately trying to keep myself alive. Depression and PTSD are beasts, but I made it through, and I owe a lot of that to Twenty One Pilots-their songs, the storyline surrounding Dema, and the fandom. All of this gave me strength and made me feel less alone. It helped me help myself. I'm glad I'm still here to see this storyline come to an end. Thank you, Tyler. Thank you, Josh. Thanks to all of you! Stay alive, friends.

As many other people said, this band is the reason I’m alive today. As a teenager with crippling depression and other mental illnesses they finally gave me a voice and I felt heard. I fell off for a while then I thought their songs felt more “pop-ey” but I’ve come back because I’m in dark place and I knew they would help me. This band is more than a band. They have saved so many people it’s amazing, I love tøp they will always have a deep place in my heart
Also this short film, which is basically what it is, explains why they came out with pop music, they were forced to preform. But now they are back to who they are I love it I love it I love it. It’s so beautiful and amazing and they came back right when I needed them.

This really hit me as someone that both identifies as a Christian and a Self Rehabilitated Cult Escapee…I cannot tell you how much I respect these dualities.
I was 15 when I first listened to blurryface. The past 7ish years have been the story of Trench, fighting out of DEMA just to fall back into addiction, self destruction, desperation.
I'm now 23 and have "Fight it, take the pain, ignite it" tattooed on my chest for a reason. This band. This music. This storyline.
This world Tyler's created is the most accurate representation of the mental illness journey I've ever come across and its so poweful to listen to songs i used to, and so many people still, sob to in their darkest moments, and just scream them powerfully and proudly.

Even though I'm new to the clique, I really love the way they crafted the Trench concept and story. At first, I was quite confused about it, but as I dug deeper, scrutinizing the duo's background and lore, I realized that it was shockingly amazing. I'm so lucky to have Twenty One Pilots in my life!

At 3:53 there is a german female voice in the background which is saying: "Die uneimliche Insel hat mich zu einer Waffe gemacht". It's the german translation of the last paragraph of Clancy's Letter which says: "This small eerie island has made me a weapon".

I’m almost 50 years old. Found 21 pilots during the Blurryface album. So happy that I did. One of my favourite bands of all time. I’m so excited for the new album.
38 here and started listening about the same time, most likely. I grew up with a pro musician as a father and a concert/live music regular as a mother. I also produce music, so I've heard it all. I still rate TOP as probably my favorite musicians of all time.

I find Tyler’s voice is SO cathartic!! Both his singing and speaking voices just put my brain in the happiest of places!! This band has gotten me through a near death incident, chronic illnesses diagnoses, and 27 surgeries no lie!! I’ve been a huge fan since 2009 and would be lost without Tyler and Josh’s creative genius to give me the joy and energy their music brings me each day!! Can’t wait to see them live again!!! What I’m going to be talking about The epic 21 pilots rock opera that tells the fantasy story of a city where it citizens are forced to stay there by an evil regime called the bishops that propagate the religion of fatalism and a group of rebels called the Bandidos fighting against them. This is an epic fantasy story but everything in it also represents different aspects of mental health depression suicidal thoughts and you being able to overcome them.
Albums:
trench, scaled and icy and the upcoming album.
I am mainly going to focus on the music videos, there are other aspects of the lore that I used such as other songs, interviews and Demaorg*
*Note: Demaorg is a website hidden in the vessel page on the 21 pilots website and contains letters and Journal entries written by Clancy
Dema storyline important details:
The continent of trench: this is where our story takes place, Fantasy world that represent someone’s mind
Dema: a city with walls surrounding it lead by the Bishops who keep the Citizens from leaving
The Bishops: a mysterious group of hooded humanoids that keep all the Citizens of Dema inside the walls, they cannot phisicly harm rebels they must use their powers to bring all rebels back under the spell of Dema.
Fatalism: the religion propagated by the bishops glorifying suicide, hailing those who kill themselves as heroes.
(The song neon gravestone)
The banditos: a group of rebels who help smuggle people out of Dema they wear a yellow jumpsuit that makes them somewhat invisible to the bishops.
Jumpsuit: a coat with yellow tape on it that helps the banditos stay unnoticed by the bishops.
Ned: small creatures that live outside of Dema their horns have a strange connection to the bishops, they can be used by the bishops, or can be used to control the bishops.
Trash The dragon: a underwater dragon that is an enemy of the bishops.
Clancy: the protagonist of the story he is a bandito who is escaping Dema and is best friends with the leader of the banditos

Storyline:
Dema storyline plot begins in the Trench trilogy
The story starts with the music video jumpsuit Clancy is outside of Dema and is being chased by a bishop on horseback, he is swayed by the bishop and begins to follow him but the banditos help him and he runs from the bishop, he is eventually over run and captured.
The next segment of the story is in Neco and the niners, we see the bishops setting up some sort of ritual and Clancy is back in Dema but his spirit is not broken And he is not under Dema's spell “what the bishops don’t know is Dema don’t control us” he meets up with the banditos and they go to their underground basis and go through secret tunnels and escape the city.
We move on to the final episode in the trench saga, Levitate. Clancy goes with a group of banditos to their camp outside Dema and all seams well until a bishop comes to the camp and forcefully captures Clancy and thus ends the trench saga.
The scaled in ice era begins with Saturday*
Note: The video Shy away is another propaganda video but has no Direct implications on the story, other than showing that Clancy is under the bishops Control.
We meet up with Clancy again and he and other banditos they are hosting a propaganda video for the people of Dema on a submarine somewhere with the bishops but something seams off instead of continuing to fight they all appear to be partying, they’re all completely under the control of Dema, and it appears the bishops may have won until trash the dragon crashes into the submarine freeing the banditos and Clancy.
The latest installment of the saga “The outside” takes place after Saturday we see The bishops finishing a ritual they sacrifice one of their members to kill the dragon that freed the banditos. Clancy and Josh are washed up on a mysterious island where they venture into a cave that appears to be a settlement of Ned’s the Ned’s give them clothes and food and their leader leads Clancy out of the cave The ned proceeds to remove his horns and he gives them to Clancy, Clancy uses them to infiltrate the ritual the bishops used to kill the dragon and takes control of the dead bishops body making him overturn one of the light rods used in The ceremony Lighting Dema on fire. We then see a group of Bandidos revealing that there is more Bandidos than we thought, The video ends showing Dema going up in flames as the Bandidos watch from afar.@@Christisking-w5v
