Ratchet straps can be quiet if you use it slow and hold the stopper up to silence the click. I have one on my ring of steps and wouldn’t use anything else.
Right now I just have a few individual GoPro batteries, including the new white ones that work better in colder weather. That has been fine for me so far, but an external power bank is on my list of upgrades to do next.
