I had a DSL for a few years and i liked it but it just never really excited me. This video shows why pretty well. The clean channel just has very little character. It’s good for a pedal platform because it lets them do the speaking. But the Orange sounds full & fat. It has a character of its own. Just my opinion.
Great video and comparison. I have a dsl20 and just got an OR15 and love them both. They are very different. For me, the DSL hits the more modern tone but also the classic rock sound w tweaking and great cleans. The OR seems much more vintage but warmer cleans. Overall, personally, i like the DSL for it's overall versatility but happy i got the OR. That vintage orange sound is unique and sounds amazing. The two cover about anything I would ever want to play.
Interesting, Adam, these are my thoughts as well, but yours are better expressed :)

Marshall for sure. Marshall projects a higher frequency that gain sound which I dig! Orange is no slouch! It rocks with a robust, fat, thick overall sound!
Surprised about the comments, I found the marshall to be nothing but treble (no pun intended), and found the orange to be way more balanced and I'm pretty sure the orange would sound way better in a mix. The marshall was way too scooped to be heard in a band. So I would say, maybe the marshall if you only play alone and Orange if you plan to play in a band =)
@@discomallard69 well, I have the rocker 15 and I cannot imagine how impossible it would be to run at full blast headroom switch engaged with mine, honestly, even at 0.5w it's probably too loud for an apartment if you push the volume up... Mine is at 9 o clock at 1W and I try not to play too often like this, I live in an old building, maybe that's why
I have both of these amps. I love them both. Can't beat a Les Paul through the Marshall overdrive channel, or a strat/tele through the Orange on clean and low gain settings.
to me its the marshall... but well...i own one now myself...partly due to these vids where it packs such a good punch for its cost... and as i am not a world class player the marshall gives me what i am looking for...i plugin, i play, i hear the sound i expect from electrical guitars :D
@@andrewgarcia3136 Ok, but how is that possible? How could the guy intentionally make two amps sound "like ass"? He clearly showed the settings on the screen. What else did he need to do?
Very similar but very different. And you were playing through some unique speakers that are dark with some lower mid push and pronounced top. The pulsonic cone with vintage flavor may have favored the Marshall. Orange are usually played through V30’s. For studio both flavors of amp are great to have around. For one amp on stage ... I might favor the Marshall for versatility and gain staging with pedals.
The orange has better harmonics and like a higher end amp to be honest. Marshall sounds to thin to me in comparison. Thanks for this I think the Orange actually sounds closer to the Marshall Studio JCM 800 for half the price.
The Orange sounded better with the first 2 settings. After that the eq on the Orange was set to some ridiculous settings. So of course people are going to say the Marshall sounded better.
It's hard to beat Oranges' at clean or high gain, crunch tones less than 50w of headroom however are overly "boxy." Marshall has far more linear and reliable tones throughout with that classic upper-mid charisma, not to mention their lower wattage amps have more history than orange. In this price range for bedroom versatility the Orange Crush Pro solid states do a better job than their 5-15w tube bretherin, imho
Because Marshall using big tube EL34 need to crank up to optimized the power amp, the more you crank the level the more headroom it gets. Big tube is more proper in stage condition than the room or bedroom condition
The marshal sounds too far away and thin. The orange is much more in your face and punches way harder. Marshal gives it a good try but nothing beats an orange
I thought the orange sounded fuller and each string came out better. Im more of a distortion guy and the Marshall sounded like its gain was more metal. But the orange sounded like it found the niche it was going for. And the Marshall sounded like a good poor man's distortion amp.
The Marshall sounded shite but tone has a lot to do with your speakers and guitar pick ups - Sorry but this demo sounds bad on both those amps - I have three Orange Amps that I gig with and this demo is really bad.

Which one is louder? Do the extra 5 watts make it noticeably louder?
Very similar, answer here - ruclips.net/video/T-y590Fc8fE/видео.html

Thanks for sharing and watching. Both are great low wattage amps for sure.

I go for the orange amp. Guess I’m in the minority. I like the mids better. The DSL sounds dumb to me. Like a pedal or something
Great video! I tend to find that Orange Amps sound best through Orange Cabs, and Marshall usually sounds good through anything. Love both. 👍
Thank you! I would agree with that

The Marshall is good for hard rock and metal and the orange is good for alternative fuzz and punk sounds
This comparison looks like it's been made to favor the Marshall. I have the Rocker Terror and it sounds way way better than is showcased here.
both amps sound like ass here. if this video were all i had to go off, i wouldn't buy either one.
@@andrewgarcia3136 Ok, but how is that possible? How could the guy intentionally make two amps sound "like ass"? He clearly showed the settings on the screen. What else did he need to do?
I like em both . I have an orange 🍊 rocker 15 combo and I wanna get a Marshall DSL5 1x10 . It’s all I need for bedroom playing .
@ValentinoLuggen I have neither lol
Definitely the Marshall
Thank you for helping me decide that Marshall is for me. I just hope I get the good one, because DLS20s are known for many problematic batches.
Good luck!
have the rocker terror 15 with a 2x12 loaded with G12H Celestion Creambacks and oh my gosh its amazing! :)
awesome 🤘🏻

Another comparison where the Marshall DSL20HR makes the competitor sound like a muffled toy!
Mark Marshall I just ordered one of the Marshalls. I’m hoping to feel the same way.

I like Marshall tone. High gain sounds better than Orange
70's classic rock would go for the Orange...80's metal would go for the Marshall...awesome demo
thank you 🤘🏻
The orange is very vintage sounding . You hit the nail on the head
I have a dsl and I was looking to add an orange head to my collection, but thanks to this video I realize I should move my search elsewhere. Thank you

Orange is killing that Marshall. much fuller sounding and better note definition

It’s all subjective to the tone that you like, to me both amps were great. The Marshall sounded bright and thin. The orange more fat.
Definitely the Orange for me. But these two amps would sound incredible together!
Marshall sounds large and authentic -orange sounds small and fizzy -thus Marshall for the win
2:03 ace of spades
The marshal sounds too far away and thin. The orange is much more in your face and punches way harder. Marshal gives it a good try but nothing beats an orange
Sounds to me like Marshall has more bottom, mids, and Orange has more pronounced highs and high mids.
what is thatt comparision whit diferents eq in each amp? u cant compare this way men...
The Marshall sounds better. The orange is too dark.
orange roker 15❤
Marshall sounds just too good/
Wow that Marshall sounds bad here What’s going on
Marshall and Blackstar for high gain rock then Orange which is great just not as versatile ...
marshall sounds more compressed, Orange sounds brighter!
All the notes are flat. When ever you end a phrase there's just a flat out of tune sound sustaining where some nice vibrato should be
Oh, shut up
@@oakfallen6663 Jesus is king
I too noticed this guy has virtually no vibrato technique in his demos

Orange is one of the worst distortion ive heard. And the dsl is made in china and thats junk to good video
The Marshall sounded shite but tone has a lot to do with your speakers and guitar pick ups -

The Orange doesn't sound as professional.
