Getzen builds the best quality horn for the money.

Interesting to hear this. I have personally had marginal results with Getzen. Maybe varies from player to player?

Always thought myself silver plate gave a slightly brighter sound!

Silver plating does indeed warm up the tone. Raw yellow brass will be quite bright and sizzling.

Thats a subjective topic but generally silver plated instruments tends to lead to a slightly brighther tone because you are covering a metal with another metal, raw brass tends to be in the middle and lacquer instruments tend to be the darker ones, but all of that is kind of subjective

The Getzen definitely sounded like an orchestral horn. I play a Yamaha myself (different model) so I was a little disappointed by its fourth place finish here! At least I thought it wasn’t as appealing as the others…

It's all quite personal and a subjective choice, Yamaha do make a great range of Trumpets at various price points and they are always a solid choice.
