Georgina is a wonderful trumpet player. I love the presentation. I like both trumpets for very different recordings ... both are world class trumpets...
I've always liked Bach trumpets and cornets. A year ago, I bought a Bach LR180S37, and its sound is the best I've ever got from a trumpet. I also have a CONN 52BSP and it's a terrific trumpet in its own right. I've been playing since 1953 and and I consider myself an OK player, not super talented, but I still love practicing every day.
She sounds great. I have a big sound, and found that the 43 has that extra sizzle that she describes. I felt like the 37 was a little constraining of my sound.
That 43 sound 😍😍 sounded darker and richer. Good for mariachi. I have to listen to a 73 now. When I was in band my band director told me I had a dark round sound. If only I knew about this info and had a 43 to sound even better. I won two jazz awards with a bach 37 stradivarius that my teacher would let me borrow
I owned a silver plated Bach Strad 37* in high school, then sold it a couple years after graduation because I needed to pay rent. I didn't play a note on a trumpet for over 30 years. Recently I bought a used silver plated Bach Strad 43 to play around on. I probably wasn't a good enough player back in high school to tell the difference between a 37 and a 43, and certainly now I wouldn't be able to. I wish I had my original trumpet from HS (serial number 81239... please sell it to me if you have it!), but I'm glad to be playing again (albeit very poorly!)
i love my 43. remember going in high school to our local dealer and trying out many trumpets. loved the sound from the 43 over the others they had in stock. recently looked at how much the cost has changed and more than doubled new from 19 years ago!
I play a lot of standard stuff at church or in an orchestra as well as much big band lead on a basic 37 - 25 Bach. I have 2 - my main horn from the late 90s and another one with a little more hard slot from about 1971. I keep essentially the same horn and just switch mouthpieces. 1 1/2C. 3C. And Reeves 42S or M. I have used a 72 lightweight bell in the past but never found a 43 bell to be as useful for what I do. She should try the 72 and see the difference between the three. Nice comparison. 👍
The 43 sounds for me more open, warmer and the 37 sounds a bit constricted in comparison. However the 37 might cut through better in certain conditions. I never played a Bach but sitting next to one, I always thought it had more core and projected better and this was frustrating since I felt overpowered. I played a Yamaha with a Bach 1.5C mpc. I am curious which harmonics/frequencies are most responsible for carrying power.
Yeah, I have Manchester Brass RL-GB with a big 72-ish bell. What a sound. But I find that it needs a mouthpiece with a tighter-than-average backbore, to add some resistance.
I generally play a Bach 72 lightweight, with a 43 lead pipe for chamber music or orchestral gigs. However, I play a 72 lightweight large bore, with heavy valve caps for my rock needs. That beast can really sing! That's just what fits for me.
Out of interest we did a separate video about the reversed lead pipe vs standard models here: ruclips.net/video/lqluoGKeLfc/видео.html Thanks for checking out our channel.
Weird. I use a 37, have since 1998. Tried a 72 last month for the first time, found the sound bigger, darker. Less sizzle, more smooth core in the sound. Felt like I could make the same tone at pp as ff. Liked it on my bach 2 and 1x mouthpieces.
I have a LR180S 37 bell. I can get a variety of very bright sounds depending on the mouthpiece I use. You can either play softly in a brass choir or peel the paint off the walls in a jazz setting. I prefer he Bach Mega tone 1D mouthpiece.
I got a used 43 that has been in the family for years for free. Best thing ever
Free is always great!
My parents bought me a 37 back in 1980 for $463.50 ( I still have the receipt ). Amazing trumpet that I still play.
funknfritter I got mine for 534$
Damn, me thinking I got a steal for $1,250 back in 02.🙄
@@ephraimpinckney8209 $375 in 1985 is around $950 today, due to inflation. You're purchase price wasn't far off.
When I returned to trumpet playing in 1980 I purchased a model 37 and although I now own 6 b flat horns I still favour the Bach horn over others
My father got me my new 43 Strad in 1972 for about $350.

I have a huge sound as well but I sounded more rich and thick on a 37 than a 43
If you want a bolder sound, you go for the 43, if you want a more lighter sound, you for the 37
I had a 37 and it was a bit stuffy I now own the 43 it plays and sounds wonderful especially in the higher register.
The 37 sounds better in the midrange, but the 43 sounds better, and plays easier, above the staff. The 43 bell has a larger throat.

I play a 37G London, love the reversed lead pipe and 37 bell, it's a great horn and works well for all sorts of different types of music

Such a helpful vid. I’ll be shopping for a 43!
Both sound gorgeous but I'd go for the 43
Georgina is a brilliant trumpet player, great singer, and a very good looking lady-the whole package!
I definitely prefer the 43. It’s just a more appealing tone to my ear.
I had 37 most of my life i now have a 72 but i must try a 43 it sounds so lively.
Both are great pro horns, period!

Nice comparison. 👍
ML bell 37 silver Has a very very nice good big fat tone.

Got myself a 37 in my last year at High school. Was fine.
Then one day I tried an old 72. Oh My God. What a sound.

I think the best piston is Bach Stradivarius model 72L. I have this horn and is just wow...

The reversed leadpipe model (not shown here) opens up the 37 a bit and makes it even more versatile.

Top line F on my 43 feels like it blows back a bit, even thins out somewhat. (Mthpc Bach 3)
The 37 has more core, the 43 ... more sizzle. The 43 tends to be a bit more open (less stuffy).
Yeah, the 43 definitely sounds crispier and brighter than the 37 from what I'm hearing
Hi, what kind of clip mic did you use in the video?
I played the 72 for 20 years, then I got the 37 and feels easier and brighter sound, I don’t know may be each mouth is different

Love your tone and energy. May I ask what mouthpiece you were using. Your sound has a nice sparkle and is similar to the sound I strive for. Thanks
Hi Robert - We're not sure which mouthpiece Georgie was using but will try and find out for you...
@@dawkesmusic looks like a marcinkiewicz proline blank
Hi! Sorry just seen this....I’m using a Marcinkiewicz concert series equivalent to a Bobby shew 1.25. I think they are still making them!
@@misssnowstorm Very cool. I play a Marcinkiewicz Shew 1.5. Love it.
Damn shes good
43 has more clear& open sound, 37 feels thighten and stuffy

190 43, review pls…
I have a 43 in mint condition looking to sell. What is a realistic price to ask??
It does depend a lot on condition but somewhere between £1,500-£,2000 is about the private market value.
Thanks, wish I sounded that good.
What type of mouth piece are you using?
They both sound good. They both have a G that is just a bit too high. Expected.
43 ALL DAY
37 👍✨🎺
The 37 sounds clearer and brighter. But both are nice.
I agree. More consistency in sound throughout range. Seems to sound more precise and manageable.
I have a 37. I’d rather have a light 43. My 19037 is too stuffy!
37 sounds richer.
43 definetly
The best 37 ......
37 04:11 43 03:51 BBC
I have 43 good trumpet 🎺💵
37 sounded better playing over the rainbow
Bach 43 richer!
