  • While at the Florida RV SuperShow, we were able to tour a lot of RVs and we wanted to share two of those with you! One of them was a top contender when we were searching for our RV. The other is brand new category of toy hauler for Grand Design. Both were in the Lazydays / Grand Design area of the show. If you want so see these or any other RVs, be sure to visit our friends at Lazydays in one of their many locations across the U.S.!
    changinglanesr...
    Momentum 376TH: www.granddesig...
    First up is the 376TH model from the Momentum line. We really struggled over not choosing this rig as our home (read on to see why we chose the 397TH)! This is the only toy hauler floorplan with a GIANT front living room! Huge TV, huge fireplace, recliner love seat, plus two sofa sleepers! It's amazing! The huge living room is raised and looks over the kitchen and dinette, which is pretty cool.
    The kitchen is very well equipped with pretty much everything ours has, including a good sized oven, convection microwave, and 18 cubic foot refrigerator. It also has the same dinette with four chairs, and a TWO huge pantries. One of those pantries is plumbed for a stackable RV washer and dryer.
    To the rear of the RV is the bathroom and bedroom. Both of those are fairly standard. The bathroom and shower are both a good size with plenty of storage. The shower does have a nice step in, deep enough to act as a shallow bath for a child or small dog, as well as a sliding glass door (which we love in ours). The bedroom has a queen bed with king option and a huge in-slide wardrobe!
    What about the garage?, you might ask…. Well, that's the beauty of this floorplan! The garage (just big enough for one large toy - trike, full dresser, etc), is UNDER the bed! An automatic lift raises the bed up to allow ingress and egress of the “toy” without hitting your head!
    If you don't need a full size garage and like a super-sized living area, this is the Toy Hauler for you!
    Momentum 350G: www.granddesig...
    Next up, we wanted to take a look at one of the new G-Class fifth wheel toy haulers by Grand Design. The G-Class are a series of lighter toy haulers “built without surrendering any of the legendary quality, innovation, and functionality” found in all Grand Design RVs.
    The layout of the 350G is fairly standard with the bedroom in the front and garage in the back, with living and dining in the middle. With a GVWR of 16995 lbs, it's still a fairly hefty rig requiring a 1 ton truck, but you might not need a dually for this. Disclaimer: Do your own homework on weights and towing. See our towing video for more information ( • Towing a Large 5th Whe... ).
    The bedroom is your standard queen with kind size option bed, and the bed runs north/south which is usually a little better for climate control (not having your head in a slide-out). It also has a full size wardrobe in a slide and very nice night stands on both sides of the bed.
    The bathroom is a decent size, with a slightly smaller counter but plenty of storage space. The shower is still a full sized shower, opting for a shower curtain versus doors to save weight.
    The Living / Kitchen area is a very nice layout with a wrap-around kitchen counter and 3 seat sofa facing a nice big TV. The RV refrigerator is slightly smaller than in the TH models at 12 cu. ft., but its double door design makes for plenty of cold storage.
    The garage in the unit we toured is huge at 14′ 6″! Plenty of room for toys! The same floorplan with an 11′ garage is also an option in the Momentum 320G. Both models have a half bath, which is great for guests! Both also have the HappiJack bunk system and 3 season garage doors as options.
    Overall, it's a lot of toy hauler in a lighter package and is pretty awesome!
    Lazydays: changinglanesr...
    We hope that you enjoyed the tours. If you'd like to see either of them in person, be sure to visit our friends at Lazdays. And, just so you know, we don't get paid by Lazydays nor Grand Design to recommend them. We've had great personal experiences with both, and are happy to recommend them!

    So I see that grand design corrected the major design flaw in 2020 with the ths by placing the entry door on the other side of the kitchen slide and moved the fridge so you can now access bathroom, fridge and bedroom when traveling. Thanks for the tour, this is a sweet model with the bedroom on opposite end from gen. Keep the videos coming!!

    Never realized you guys reviewed our favorite TH a year ago....absolutely love the 376TH. They now have the 376TH-R for 2021. We can hardly wait to get our home, Airstream, F250 sold so we can buy the 376TH and upgrade to a "dually" to go full-time. Thanks guys for pushing us in the direction we want to be and thanks for the great review........albeit a year ago.....LOL!

    I'm a crafter/sewist/knitter and so the toy hauler appeals to me in that I could make it a craft "studio"!! I just don't know if a grandma can handle a rig like that on her own.

      I was thinking the same thing utilizing the garage as a work space for said activities, having the laundry there. Would like to know where you think he laundry is better in the bedroom, garage or kitchen area? Thank you for sharing your experiences and doing these tours and giving your thoughts. I’m looking to find one that would be my full time mainly stationary home😃👍🏼

I hope you had a good time there also. I was surprised by the number of friends I ran into while I was looking around the show. That was amazing. Thanks again for showing us/me around.

    I have been looking for the 376-floor plan for the last few years and it is not very easy to find, and I have been focusing only on the Montana. I didn't really know other manufacturers made the same design so was so happy to see other options and will definitely be looking at this model. Need to do research to see why the Grand Design Momentum is more expensive than the Montana. Thank you so much for the information.

    Thank you two,
    for showing these two grand design RVs. I have seen a few of grand design reviews /showing. It looks like grand design builts good quality RVs but for my taste all the wood work is much too dark. On their webside I didn´t see any option for a much lighter wood.
    Keep on going to do such good job on youtube.

    Regarding your comment about the ice maker in the fridge - yes, it's nice, but it's also a HUGE space taker. I've got one in my RV, and if it was up to me, I'd rather have a counter top ice maker and have the space back in my freezer!

  • @johnbiasi7337
    @johnbiasi7337 5 лет назад

    Great informative walk thru. I have a 2019 376TH. There is one error in your information. The comment that you can't get to the bathroom without opening both opposing slides is incorrect. There are two valves located on the door side above the propane tank. They allow you to isolate the two slides and only open one or the other. So you can pull off the road and open the dinette slide if space permits and get access to bathroom and bedroom without opening the kitchen slide.

    • @ChangingLanes
      @ChangingLanes  5 лет назад

      True.. not *both* slides... but the main point was that you do have to put out a slide out to get to it, which is not possible / advisable in a typical rest area or walmart parking lot situation. Not a huge deal.. but something to consider. Thanks for watching, John! Hope you check out the rest of our channel! 😊

    I love the build quality, design and fit and finish of Grand Design units - and I would love to one day see myself in one. I will also go out on a limb and say my next 5er will be a front Living room - but i need a 1 ton dually first! the ol 2500 SRW isn't going to cut it! Im usually a big fan of brand loyalty, but i can honestly say we've made concessions in our last 3 trailers(all 3 different manufacturers) to remain loyal to a dealership my family has used for over 40 years. i would love a grand design, but unless our current dealer closes, it will be something they can get us despite our love of a Grand Design! there is something said for great service and a place where everyone knows my name - no its not Norm! :)

    We bought a used 2018 Imagine 2670 MK in January and can't wait to go camping. I still love watching videos of other models though (maybe future upgrade). With Grand Design's emphasis on quality (big reason we bought ours), I wish they would move to the whisper quiet A/Cs. That so far is my only real complaint about our unit, not that we've needed it yet here in Colorado. During our PDI, turned on the bedroom unit and it is pretty loud especially when trying to watch tv.

    Hey guys, always watch your videos. We have been wanting to get a Solitude 374TH for awhile, just need a rich relative. The 374TH is Solitude's sister to the 376TH. The Solitude can be optioned with a residential fridge, the 374TH-R.
    Of all the like models out there from other manufactures (with the same floorplan as the 374TH), only the Solitude/Momentum have the necessary clearance to hold our 1500 Goldwing with the bedroom in the down position. I like that we can use the rig fully, and keep the bike out of the elements and sticky fingers at the same time.
    Hopefully someday...

    Great video, as always (dig your white board talks in other vid's)! We've looked at 376 TH as well as the Solitude version (I race karts). The drawback (unique to GD) is there's just a flimsy skirt between the garage and the bedroom particularly with the bed up; fumes and cold air migration from the garage! Probably why so many newer used ones are for sale. Hope we run into you on the road!

    Good tour and I love the 376TH! The only problem with the floorplan and having the bedroom and bathroom at the back of the rig, with that many slides, is that you can't just make a pit stop at a truck stop and use your bathroom without taking the dining slide out. The same with the bedroom. Okay, the entire rig is unusable unless you're at a caravan (RV) park with room to level, stabilized and take your slides out. I guess not a huge problem if you're willing to pre-pack your lunch, bringing it into the ute (pickup truck) with you and use public restrooms, but why do that if you've got your own?

    • @ChangingLanes
      @ChangingLanes  5 лет назад +2

      Well... GDRV is prototyping a 376THS! It has the entry door behind the slide and they also moved the fridge to the rear of the kitchen slide. This gives access to the bedroom, bathroom, and fridge with all the slides in! However, in the prototype, the slide pantry was deleted in lieu of more counter space. This leaves one pantry, which is also where the washer and dryer would go if you need that. Again.. just a prototype, but they are listening to their customers! 😊

    Chad, I think you may be mistaken, about the residential refrigerator, or maybe I am. According to the GD factory rep I talked with at the RV show here in Denver, it is an option, unless I misunderstood him. I'm more interested in efficiency than the propane option. Learned that in our travel trailer...no propane refer for me. Also, I have been torn between the Solitude 375RES-r vs. the Momentum 376TH....since you mentioned there is now a King Bed option, I feel you have just made up my mind....now if we could only convince GD to make the shore-power cable on a reel system an option, that would seal the deal for me. While age is only a state of mind, my back tells me otherwise. Thanks for this great review Shipmate. FW&FS.

    • @ChangingLanes
      @ChangingLanes  5 лет назад

      I'll have to check on that... I know residential fridge is an option in most of the Solitudes and the Solitude 374TH is identical to the 376TH in layout.

    376th is great. Not being able to get to the bedroom/bathroom is a big problem. But you can open the dining room slide without opening the kitchen slide.

    • @ChangingLanes
      @ChangingLanes  5 лет назад +1

      True on the one slide.. but even that can be an issue in just about any rest area or truck stop. Unless it's sparsely populated we would't want to block a lane. Maybe the slide could go out just a foot, then run it out and back in before leaving... Overall, it's an issue. We love using our own bathroom when we travel.

    • @ericbenjamin6504

      Changing Lanes yea. I’ve gotta get to at least part of the fridge a bathroom and a bed while traveling. However I would love the smaller garage for the safety and weather protection of five pedal bikes. Buying a house is less complicated. Enjoyed the video as usual. 👍🏾👍🏾

    Love the 376, by Ultra classic would love that garage space and I would definitely take a couch out for my desk. You'd have to put a rug over the lip because the schwinntek slide wires are under the couch.
    I really wish GD would offer Samsung or LG TVs instead.

    • @ChangingLanes
      @ChangingLanes  5 лет назад

      Yea.. I've wondered how that lip might affect a desk / chair there. LED TVs are pretty cheap these days and all have the same VESA mounts, so they should be pretty easy to swap out. The 4 TCL TV's in our rig have held up great though. Thanks for watching! 😊

    I wonder if he's toy haulers, with the washer and dryer in the garage, if they would be able to support a normal residential washer and dryer?

    • @BillKicklighter
      @BillKicklighter 5 лет назад

      Technically it can be done, but there are challenges to overcome. First is weight. Residential W/D units are normally much heavier. Second is voltage. Residential electric dryers are usually 220V (240) and your RV is 110V (120). You could convert a natural gas dryer to propane to avoid the voltage issue, but would need to run the propane line to the dryer. Then of course you have the size/space difference. I'm sure there are more, but those are the immediate challenges that come to mind.

    Hey Chad (or anyone else with hands on experience), hope you have time to answer a total noob question. My wife and I are still researching what we think will or won't work for us as far as becoming full timers. One of our biggest debates is over trailer length and balancing comfortable living space vs. trailer park length restrictions. It looks like the majority of our national parks won't accommodate anything close to the size of trailer you pull, so my question is this: In your experience, is it usually relatively easy to find a private park just outside the national park that CAN accommodate a monster trailer like yours or not?

    • @ChangingLanes
      @ChangingLanes  5 лет назад +1

      Hey, Ron. Yes.... We are too big for most national parks. However, we were in over 45 locations last year all over the East coast of the U.S. We've never had an issue finding a site, and we've stayed in Campgrounds, RV Parks, State Parks, COE (Army Core Of Engineers) Sites, etc. We just plan ahead and make sure to call each site and confirm they are big rig friendly. We also use rvtripwizard.com, which has a lot of great tools to find locations. National Parks are a lot more size restricted, but there are always great campgrounds and RV parks outside the national parks. I think most national parks are 30' and under that that just wasn't an option for us.. 😊
      Hope that helps!

    • @ronlawrence5021
      @ronlawrence5021 5 лет назад +1

      @@ChangingLanes
      It does, thanks very much. Nothing like getting the info direct from people who have actually done it. There's so much back-and-forth in the fulltiming community regarding large vs. smaller rigs that it's hard to decide. I guess it's up to the individual, and how much "personal space" each person thinks they need. It probably would be really foolish to buy a rig small enough to fit in all the parks - only to find out you're miserable living in a shoebox. Thanks for the help, Buddy - hope to see you on the road someday.

    Thanks for the tour! I've been looking at all of the Grand Design toy haulers but haven't seen the 350G yet. Do you know if it is classified as 4 season? • @ChangingLanes

      At 16:59 it looks like the same weather-tek sticker... and looking at the R values on the GDRV web site, they are all the same except the main floor. So, my guess is the models with the drop frame have a higher R value for that reason.
